We're running R4 cars in Portugal. Shorter stages, more repair zones - enjoy a somewhat easier event, as long as you keep your pace in check. It's a set of pretty stages, too, always nice to drive through some villages and enjoy some sights every time you have a millisecond to spare to look around you.

Iam looking at it this way. Imagine three scenarios.
1. A person stands in front of an apple on a table. They reach out and grab it.
2. A person in full dive VR stands in front of an apple on a table. The apple is being real time 3D scanned and tracked. A robot in the room with the apple will move it according to the person. They grab the apple. The table and apple are miles from the person.
3. Scenario 2 but the apple and table ect are fully simulated.

To the person, all scenarios feel exactly the same. The first one really grabbed the apple. The third did not. But what of the second? is it real by proxy? Does it change if the person is in a room with a headset instead of full dive? Phantom sense is just the mushy software filling in the gaps until it receives the proper stimulus. Just like how a fictional software would probably predict the motion of the apple to get a better sense of touch or framerate for the person. It isn't lying until it is. The process of light gathering and computing is partly done, in scenario 2, by a computer. This is to process it into something that can be interpreted the same way as if it where the eyes of the person. Just a long way of saying its basically the same as standing in the room. The same could be said for touch. Lets say thats real by proxy. Now lets imagine a person in today's VR equipment grabbing the apple. This person is so immersed that it feels like the scenarios above. They grab the apple and the fictional robot move it according again. The persons phantom sense is working over drive and it just so happens to lead to a real output. But there is no touch feedback. Therefore they didn't touch the apple. The difference is immersion.

I recommend first specifying what you want out of VR. Do you want to play VRChat? Or is it VR games you're primarily focused on playing? Or both? (A VRC loadout will usually be great for VR games too but it's a balancing act depending on what you want to play)

Main difference for a VRC focused setup is lighthouse tracking and trackers, while for VR games you don't need that stuff. The tld;r with lighthouse trackers is you can use them with any headset but it requires some setup for most.
The two main category of headsets nowadays are wired ones (such as the index and the beyond) and wireless ones (such as the quest 3 and pico 4).

Anyway see above there's lots to consider but the tl;dr for 80% of people is get a quest 3. For VRC + trackers, get a quest 3, two 2.0 lighthouses, and 3-4 HTC trackers. You can consider tundras but they've historically had issues.

The index is a good headset but it is outdated, and you will get people screaming at you that it's outdated. That's mostly due to it being wired, missing face/eye tracking, having a screen that's not as high resolution as newer ones, and using fresnel lenses.
It's comfy, just works, has audio that still is best in slot, and comes with lighthouses. It's still a very solid pic although you'll probably be wanting to upgrade in a couple years.

It doesn't really buff or nerf anything technically; it brings the non-one hit kill weapons up to spec. Personally balance aside I think it it's dumb to have it so if you're on 4 health and someone hits you in the head with an M4, your helmet pops and lives. That's not really a 'buffing better players' thing. It just makes all non-AK/deagle/one shot headshot guns work better. In some situations.

By default, headshots (that aren't one shot kill headshot) weapons do a % damage on the target. So if you're full health and take a M4 headshot, it does 70 damage or whatever; but if you're 30 health, it'll do 20 damage. (Not exact numbers). It gets the most rediculous when someone is at 2 health with a helmet and gets shot in the head and lives.
Changing this to flat damage on headshot will generally buff instances where the bodyshot is the first shot, followed by headshot. It creates consistency between target order.

I've also played pcvr using tethered mobile internet when the power went out once and the latency difference was noticeable but small. All you need is to have a good wired connection between your pc and router and make sure you connect your headset to the router via 5GHz. The actual Internet traffic itself is rather light in comparison.

Sure, wired pcvr brings latency down even lower than wireless, but my wireless latency is literally ~16ms, multiplied by two since it's back and forth. It's not unusable, and some pc monitors have a refresh latency of 10ms. 20ms hasn't ever stopped anyone from gaming. The mobility is worthwhile too.

Roblox is a lot more approachable for a lot of reasons, it's been around for much longer, it's available on nearly every platforms and isn't rated +13 like VRChat.
Also making games/worlds in Roblox is a LOT easier than learning Unity.

Also not everyone knows that VRChat can played without VR.

VRC is ultimately just chatroom with some game functionality glued on while Roblox is game with some chatroom functionality glued on. If you want something closer to that experience RecRoom is probably your best bet.
