Any good Poker worlds in VRC worth checking out?
I would like to host a poker evening or at the very least card game evening
>Can now immersively play instruments in Skyrim VR
I will now yet again play Todd's game and hope that other VR RPGs start existing at some point
>>518464404 (OP)
well, vros?
its even better now
>>518465452
I'm so glad I hodled my Index and can just get a better Beyond now. I wish that it was 144hz but at least the FOV is decent on it. Now I just need to ebay a Vive Facial Tracker so I can get the full face tracking package.
>>518465452
The hmd upgrades are great. Why do they still sell it with the default strap tho?
>>518465648
>I wish that it was 144hz
90hz mode is on par with 144hz index
75hz is a bit behind but not that far behind
>>518465769
they sell it with 3 strap options because its compatible with all of those
>>518465937
I'm not too worried as it's not like I can run most things, let alone VRC, at 144fps. But 144hz is kind of nice for rhythm games like Beatsaber where the latency can really matter. I use an OLED monitor for flat games and I love how responsive it is compared to the IPS I now keep in my closet.
>>518465452
That'll be $899
>Plus $200 for eyetracking
>Plus $120 for 3D printed face gasket
>Plus $180 for the universal face gasket after you realize the 3D printed one sucks
>Plus $129 for the audio strap
>Plus $89 for prescription lens inserts
>Plus $79 for a backup cable for when the original one goes
>Plus 3D Printer/Filament to inevitably print out mods to try and make the headset better
>Plus shipping
>Plus tax
>Plus tip
Any questions?
>>518466074
>But 144hz is kind of nice for rhythm games like Beatsaber where the latency can really matter.
thankfully 90hz on uOLED will get you that experience
>>518465937
>90hz mode is on par with 144hz index
bigscreen cult shitting out straight lies yet again
>>518466275
yeah sign me up chief I already ordered the bsb2e upgrade kit
>>518466360
see >>518466354
can't fight hard measured evidence, anon :^)
>>518466275
>he didn't get the bsb1 for the -$150 deal.
>>518466543
all that's showing is latency
>>518466603
>all that's showing is latency
yes, you are correct and that is exactly what we are talking about
>got zucked in december
i should've just waited a couple 2 more weeks
>>518466275
I like that there are accessories at launch this time. Having to wait months for the official headstrap and do some very hacky DIY process for sort of eyetracking was lame. Eyetracking at launch is great. I hope that it can do pupil dilation so I can look like pic related (Literally me btw).
>>518466902
>I enjoy having to spend hundreds of dollars more in accessories for shit that should have just came with the headset
>>518467012
Like the Quest 3 not having a good headstrap included and not having eye tracking at all? I'm going to have a lot of fun making funny faces in VR.
>>518467012
i just use the soft strap and some ksc75s with a splitter for face tracking options
>>518466702
>latency=frame rate
retard moment
>>518467295
bro did you even read our chain
that anon wants low latency for rhythm games
>>518467181
You can buy an aftermarket Quest 3 strap for $25
Even the top of the line expensive ones with built in batteries and fans are like $110 max.
If you wanted the audio strap + the halo strap for Beyond you'd have to spend another $180 + $130 = a whopping $310
>>518467470
bigscreen cult shitting out straight lies yet again
>>518466275
Forgot about
>Plus $250 for Index Controllers
>Plus $450 for Base Stations
>Plus however much your audio device is gonna cost since you'll need one if you don't get the audio strap
>>518467808
bro im sorry you can't read but that's a (you) problem
Is this the final form of eyetracking fags? They aren't even pretending to want to use it for better framerates anymore as games don't support it. They are just AGP VRC trannies who want it for gay sex.
>>518467941
why are you like this
>>518467295
bro.... latency IS framerate you absolute cretin.
Frametimes (latency) are seconds per fps. Frame rate is frames per second.
Go back to highschool math you fucking retard. to say that latency and framerate arent twosides of the same coin is a self report for dogshit education.
>>518468028
>running on GPU
won't that result in less performance for games
Can we actually discuss the headset instead of shitting up the thread with more greendayle latency bullshit no one cares about?
>>518468218
using AI shid it shouldn't really but I imagine its not that heavy of a model
tradeoff would be foveated rendering in supported games in theory but that requires game devs to actually implement it unless steamvr natively starts doing it on its own
>>518467941
>They aren't even pretending to want to use it for better framerates anymore as games don't support it
if you'd spend less time on crying about muh trannies and more time on listening to the reveal video, you'd notice they're clearly implying they intend to work on making eye tracking useful for vidya and popularizing eyetrack-related optimizations in games
So about that 116 degree FoV...
>>518468525
They clearly said diagonal, so you know the horizontal was not going to be that great. With that said, that amount is not really terrible. It's just ok.
>>518468525
Sucks to be born with 55ipd
>>518468085
>braindead redditspacer doesn't understand the difference between latency and throughput
NTA, but heh. Very ironic post.
>>518468296
I like how OpenXR Toolkit handles its own foveated rendering on most games. A tool that's easier to use would be nice. Some older VR games/mods that will never get updated could really go for that kind of performance boost in VR.
Deemo Reborn tanks when running it at all res on my regular Beyond for no apparent reason.
>>518468236
I kept dying to a quest 3 faggot in pavlov so I'll shitpost this compression shit until the day I die
>>518468908
>q3
>compression
but we're talking about the new good headset anon, why bring up that shit lmao?
>>518468525
Did he say if the FOV is actually bigger than the Quest 3 as claimed? I like the Quest 3's FOV, but something higher would be nice.
>>518468985
fuck you bitch I'll knife you
>>518468525

bsb2e but wireless (wigig, not wifislop)
>>518469319
I guess I'll buy and cancel my PO when the Deckard gets announced in a fortnite. I hope that I can 3D print an adapter to use my Quest headstrap with it. Gotta visit the Apple store for that scan soon.

Shilltuber says the lenses on Beyond 2 are even better than the Quest 3
Won't believe it until I see it personally.
>>518469975
He's gonna go back to the crystal anyway. All he cares about is high resolution and framerate.
>>518469557
>>518469752
If no increase in lens or graphics quality compared to MetaQuest 3 lenses and graphics then do you believe MQ4 is what you mentioned?
I ask in different words. If Meta keeps the lenses and graphics from MQ3 then do you believe an affordable 500$ MQ4 price or less includes your mentioned hardware and software?
>bshit2 is out, so now the shill are finally honest and admit that bshit1 actually had terrible lenses
Guys.
Just saying but.
Wait for summer. Don't buy anything yet, unless you want something really light and that's your main focus. Then you can buy a Beyond 2. But otherwise, wait. Trust me. It came to me in a dream. It's going to be worth the wait.
>>518470884
shillseekers bsb1 video talks about how you just kinda cope with the lenses.
>>518471037
just two more years with my index
Back or over. Call it.
>>518471037
I don't expect much from deckard. A $1200 headset that's PCVR-only, lighthouse device is obviously able to put more money into what matters compared to a $1200 standalone x86_64 deckard, that requires them to develop a decent portable computer, a good chunk of software for that, and then also a headset on top of all of that.
then again, maybe it's worth waiting those two weeks for the official reveal
mq4 predictions
>eye
baseline
they have to ape the vision pro
>face
unlikely
maybe in the 4+, don't see it in base 4
>controllers
maybe adaptive triggers, or voicecoils in the triggers
possibly unchanged too
>better lenses
given
>display
uOLED unlikely
Remember that all of the shilltubers sang the fucking praises out of bigscreen 1 while mostly ignoring it's glaring lens issues (no pun intended).
They all pretty much lied about its problems.
Keep this in mind before getting hyped about the potential bullshit they're spewing with Bigscreen 2.
>>518470559
Implied question? Are MQ3's lenses and graphics already good enough to just be MQ4's lenses and graphics?
what do you mean by graphics?
the display is tolerable, the chips inside are weak as fuck still (gtx 1060 level)
>>518471396
if you've been wearing glasses for life you wont notice the glare outside of the most extreme edge cases (white on black)
>>518471621
who are you talking to
OH BROTHER
>>518471621
I agree about the lenses for sure. Pixel quantity and quality behind pancake lenses are at least tolerable.
About graphics...maybe weak...but are the graphics good enough for immersive, general, and diverse interactions?
>>518471995
Man they're really treating their existing customers like shit for this.
>>518470559
MQ4 should stop trying to increase res and focus on making wifislop better
ie focus on the arm chip, the decoding, etc. to lower latency as far as possible
and a stronger chip on same optics stack can mean higher fidelity games
>buy a headset
>2 years company releases a new one
>HOW COULD THEY FUCK OVER THEIR OLD CUSTOMERS LIKE THIS
nigger it's a new headset fuck off
>>518472032
>but are the graphics good enough
depends
compared to 4090-based pcvr, standalone is dogshit
>>518471621
>1060 level
more like 780
>>518470884
mine work well for me and i apparently have a better experience than other users
looking forward to the improvements nonetheless
>>518472114
Current chip is like what, 2.5TFLOPS?
Games like Pavlov shack look fucking amazing because it's all old-tech powering up the engine.
With eye tracking foveated rendering, keeping the total render res to 4K and getting a new chip that's at least 4TFLOPS (not sure what qualcomm is cooking on the new XR ones but it might be gud) then we'd have a massive amount of overhead for quest sloppa graphics to be developped on.
>>518472147
It hasn't even been out for 2 years yet, and they had so many shipping delay issues that most people only got their Bigscreen Beyond 1 headsets in the last like 8 months.
I would be pretty pissed off if the $1,000 headset (that you can not resell) I got 8 months ago was completely made obsolete by a sequel in less than a year.
Anyone up for some mini golfing in 30 minutes?
Small company with tight budgets. Please understand.
>>518472480
I think the total lack of resell value is what hurts the most here for me. If I could hock my BSB for ~700 I'd be fine with it but there is ZERO used market
>>518472615
I'll join!
>>518472615
of course
>>518472480
Boo hoo new headsets come out all the time. Let's see what they did to fuck over their customers
*checks notes*
Ahem:
ONLY offering an upgrade package for a limited time
ONLY withholding orders in the last 12 (?) weeks for the old one so those guys don't get the old revision
>>518472640
That's true, but that was a problem with the original headset new or no. Same problem if the deckard came out.
>>518472640
It is absolutely the total lack of resale value that Bigscreen has self-inflicted that hurts the most.
The fact that it's literally just a brick that no one will ever want to buy because it's been made completely obsolete.
>>518471995
It's not even a $200 discount. You just have the privilege to not be forced into the cushion, linkbox, and cable bundle which are no longer complenetary. The cushion adds $120 to the listed price at checkout.
You only get a $50 discount with the bundle but shanks is a dipshit.
whats the go to headset if i wanna dip my toes in vr? Like watching a show/movie in vr and maybe mess with vrchat?
>>518473074
BigScreen Beyond 2
>whats the go to headset
the cheapest one
vr has very low retention rate
>>518473203
If you're here you're not the average VG customer that's buying a Quest 3 for their kid at christmas
>>518473203
GearVR it is!
>>518473074
Quest 2 is the absolute cheapest but I would HEAVILY recommend getting a quest 3.
>>518473074
quest 3s
>>518473074
Index
>>518473074
Quest, I guess. There are many viable headsets on the market, but Quest is probably the easiest, cheapest, and most popular one. You can even cheap out and get an used 2 instead of 3, then shit's gonna cost you no more than five pizza takeouts.
>>518473459
>>518472912
There was a risk when buying the headset that it would be made obsolete by other headsets. There's a risk that the deckard comes out, that htc rolls a natural 20 on their retarded manager check and accidentally makes a good headset, Meta could throw out the quest 4 with eyetracking and low weight for $800, whenever you buy any headset there's a risk that something will be announced that screws you over.
Say thank you to people who bought beyonds 13 weeks ago for giving us a new headset that might be good
My biggest counter to all of this is; if you think the beyond wasn't worth the money; why the fuck did you buy it?
Just saw a video about Bigscreen 2 pop up and decided to come back to this general to see what people think.
I definitively want one since I never got the first version.
Maybe someone in VRC would buy me one if I pretended to be a girl for like a week.
>>518473798
There are a decent amount of shills/cultists in this thread right now so it's hard to get an idea.
>>518473798
Overall consensus is looks promising but we remember what happened with the 1. A few people have bought already so I'm gonna see what they think.
>>518473798
Supply for that is way bigger than demand. You'd have to offer the full girlfriend package.
>>518473798
nigga everyone pretends to be a girl in VRC
>>518473798
>Maybe someone in VRC would buy me one if I pretended to be a girl for like a week.
you're trying compete on the single most oversaturated market in existence, give up
>>518473673
It's not just made obsolete by other headsets, it is made obsolete by the same headset manufacturer in such a short amount of time for an item that didn't have much resale value before and sure as hell has none now.
>>518474062
if you think the beyond wasn't worth the money; why the fuck did you buy it?
>>518474157
Should have waited two more years
>>518473798
Probably the best option, especially if you want full body tracking and face tracking. Get a Vive Facial Tracker second hand so you can give the VR succ properly.
>>518474157
Because you can't try a VR headset before buying it? Because shilltubers lied about all the problems it had months before anyone could get their hands on it?
How was I supposed to know the lenses would be so dogshit that they'd need to re-release the headset a year later with better optics?
>>518473798
too bad everyone here is gay
>>518474287
Then why did you buy it?
For REAL if you trust shilltubers you deserve it
>>518474262
I do have full body, but no eye tracking so that would have to be considered for an extra 180 bucks...
I got a Vive 2 pro but I kinda don't like to use it.
Hoping that the small size and weight + pancake lenses would satisfy.
>>518474425
Ah.. Well that makes it easier because I'm gay too!
>>518474425
speak for yourself, gay retard
Pimax literally gives you something like half off the price of a new headset just for trusting them.
Varjo also came with discounts for being a repeat customer.
Bigmeme gives you a $50 discount disguised as a $200 discount because you have the limited time privilege to not be forced to pay for the cushion, the cable, and the new linkbox that has better power delivery and RF support for controllers, did you know that the headset is too small for the controller radios so its in the link box. Oh btw it's only been a year and half since we originally started shipping.
T-Thanks bigmeme very cool.
>>518474287
better optics and IPD adjustment which is what destroys the resale value of the BSB1. Why the fuck would anyone buy it over the BSB2 even IF you're perfect match.
Their argument before was that they couldn't fit it in because of the weight when in reality its they couldn't fit it in but had to release something.
>>518474512
Motherfucker are you even listening?
>>518474652
>better optics and IPD adjustment which is what destroys the resale value of the BSB1
This was still the case before the BSB2
This is why HTC just releases garbage over and over and the deckard never comes out, everyone would just be mad that a better headset came out
>>518474652
oh and the upgrade kit doesnt come with the items listed that are the "discount".
>peemax
>varjo with half of the features behing botnet subscription gate
>better than bigshit
lmao
>>518474652
Rare Pimax W on this one desu
I was expecting Bigscreen to do something similar but the $50 discount just looks insulting.
>>518474713
I'll tell you a story:
I saw the fixed IPD, 3d scanned gasket and small sweetspot and stayed away because I'm not a fucking retard
>>518474652
not sure if others had this experience, but i got link box and cable for free when i asked their support for one. I was having poping issues with audio.
>>518474962
nta, but sounds a lot like pajeet cope you could read in vr threads on /v/
>>518472640
The resale market isn't actually zero fwiw.
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=bigscreen+beyond&_sacat=0&_from=R40&rt=nc&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1
The price will certainly go down with supply but it seems better than I personally expected.
>>518475079
Maybe, but this is like complaining that your gpu is obsoleted by a new gen and that nvidia don't give you a discount
>>518473021
>You only get a $50 discount with the bundle but shanks is a dipshit.
lil bro can't even do math and compare checkout pages
>>518474962
>small sweetspot
People didn't know that until they got the headset on their face. It's easy to sell the pill of "oh just scan your face and we'll get your IPD perfectly for your and a perfect face gasket for you as well" and get swooned when you run 5 years of a fucking index.
>>518475153
This. Your 'discount' is selling the old one for 400-500 bux.
>>518472615
>>518472675
>>518472720
Lobby is up: VRG
>>518475153
thats just the same listing being sold 3 times somehow tho?
>>518474785
First units started shipping out in October 2023 anon. The majority of BSB users are still in their warranty periods. I know someone who is getting their BSB1 TODAY who got it during the BF sale and is pissed at the announcement.
The normal turnaround cycle for headsets is 2.5-3 years. If they had this in the pipeline to release this shortly after then the argument should be made that they should have waited to launch the BSB1.
>>518475048
Sure but describing it as a discount because they arent offering and not charging you for the new and improved linkbox, cable, and cushion that you already paid for is disingenuous its not the $200 discount that shanks is claiming here. >>518471995
>>518475178
retard. its not a discount if they are not including it. You just get the privilege of not being forced to buy it. The discount is unironically just $50 off the base price.

Latency was absolutely murdering me when I tried a rally game in one of those cloud streaming vidya services years ago. Couldn't even drive the car straight, every minor correction was going in the wrong direction. Of course this is not comparable to a minor latency in VR headset, but still, I'd say that between high FPS and low latency, I'd most likely prioritize the latter for racing.

If you have a 3d printer or are willing to use one at a library, you can probably make something as good for cheap. you can also print adapters for cheap quest 3 halo straps or the vive deluxe strap too if you have those. If you're lazy and rich though, the audio strap is acceptable. Like, it's not as good as the index speakers but prefer it over the tiresome exercise of untangling the earbuds and sticking them in.

Quest 3, the pancake lenses make a massive difference in visual clarity.
Quest 2 or 3s will have you wearing the headset at an uncomfortable angle to avoid clarity issues.
Beyondfags, is low weight really of that much benefit to you? Did you put it on and had a "hell yeah, this is so much better" moment? I had a bunch of headsets of different weight, and weight kinda never bothered me (balance did), I'm curious if a lightweight headset is really all that valuable. Is it nicer when you rotate head around? Can it be worn without tightening it too hard? If another headset would drop and it would have everything you want, but it'd be index-tier heavy, would you go for it?
>>518499058
>but I also just don't like the isolation of earbuds vs off-ear
yeah thats why ive swapped from quest 1 earbuds to ksc75s
unironically perfect combo
anyone know why even when setting the QPro to not go to sleep when put down/off the head, about 50% of the time when putting it back on the space callibrator desyncs from the quest space?
im using a 4th tracker 99% of the time and it still does this
even when turning off/on the continuous calibration it will think its correct despite being meters off
even when closing the program entirely, or switching to a manual calibration it doesn't fix it
the only way ive found out how to solve it is by exiting steamVR entirely and starting it/VRChat again
Using VD btw
>>518497462
what would you recommend then for audio?
>>518499314
which version of space calibrator are you using? there a few different forks on github, and the one on steam
>>518499512
wireless buds
>>518499163
short answer yes. Balance can remove the torque on your neck but it can't eliminate the moment of inertia when you turn/move your head around. It's very physically comfy. I would tradeoff some weight for certain features though (wireless, higher refresh rate, maybe passthrough cameras), but I wouldn't go back to another index brick.
That being said, it's still not light enough to be like putting on glasses. I still feel like I'm strapping into VR. So if weight never bothered you, you'll have to consider if the other tradeoffs with the bigmeme are worth it over, say, falling for the pimax meme or faceberg or waiting 2 weeks for deckard or whatever.

I went from wireless vive pro to beyond mostly because of the weight. I had a counter weight on my wireless vivepro so the thing was nearly 3 lbs on my head(plus the huge 20000mah battery i wore on my back). Although it was balanced, it was still a lot of weight to lug around on my neck. I was getting sick of it and was developing neck pains. So I saved some money and got the bigmeme. The weight really is great. I didn't like the custom face cushion, but its makes it feel rock solid on the face. I ended up using a 3d printed face plate that accepts a vive cushion so its a little less stable and slightly heavier. I sometimes go back to the vive pro to use its wireless and I can really feel the weight. looking around feels lumbered and slow. I can see and feel the headset shifting on my face. Looking down for more than a few minutes would guarantee neck pains. Using the heavy vive pro becomes uncomfortable after a few hours now, which is unfortunate because theres a lot of games where wireless really helps and now im leash cucked. at least bigmeme makes deving slightly easier
>Can it be worn without tightening it too hard?
i really tighten my bsb1 on me to get the best clarity. but it feels solid at moderate tightness.

Yeah. I used to use a Vive pro and that thing was heavy and creaky as fuck. I need a lighter headset when I'm doing maps in Pistol Whip that require you to swing your head left and right, or even relaxed shit like watching movies with friends in VRC. The Index is even heavier than that so it'd be a hard pass if the Deckard came out and it was that bad due to it having an entire Linux PC built in.

VPE2 was an index sidegrade that came with eyetracking but worse mics.
BSB1 is a weird spot where its an upgrade resolution and size wise but no eyetracking and has a lot of caveats.
BSB2 gets the BSB1 with eyetracking with all issues of the BSB1 resolved.

Equal amounts of yearly/biyearly upgrades and we've trended on a path that doesn't obsolete your GPU in the presence of the new one. Its also not hard to get 60-80% of the price of a GPU back by reselling it. Good luck doing it with the Beyond with this announcement.
>>518515119
what the other anon said. there are literal glaring problems with the BSB1 that were known to them prelaunch and decided to ship anyway. BSB2 fixes all of them allegedly which is why people are pissed.

Negative, BSB2 is tailor made for wired PC VR while Deckard will be a standalone and portable device. Really, for /vrg/, the BSB2 is the better choice.

I hold a similar opinion, but I'm kinda scared to buy BSB2 because I feel like valve could introduce some insane gimmick that would take over the world. No idea what it could be, no idea how could they introduce anything of value while also delivering a computing device bundled with a decent headset in the same price BSB2 sells its base unit for, but I'm still kinda scared regardless. Guess you just never know until its out.
>>518520701
the gimmick would literally be steamdeck but in a headset. They don't need to do anything else and it will sell amazingly because you get both a VR device and steamdeck.

mostly VRC, plus also vain hope it'll be implemented in other vidya at some point. Eyetracking does a great job at increasing your general expression in VRC, even though it's a somewhat subtle thing.

>>518522497
because it nice to have tracked eyes in vrchat. And multiple variations of foveated rendering AND foveated encoding exists and are usefull.
In near future headsets with 4k x 4k screens foveated rendering is mandatory, because no GPU will be able to drive them in raw full res.
Eyetracking needs to be a thing NOW, so more games adopt quad views foveated rendering NOW, so when finally retina resolution displays come out, games are already ready for foveated rendering.
>>518522497
any headset trying to drive 4k per eye or higher needs eyetracking for foveated rendering even for a 5090 to run them well, let alone GPUs that consumers actually have and get their hands on these days

>Choose your base model

>deselect the halo strap
>add to cart
You dodge the $120 cushion fee if your cushion is works fine while also getting the upgraded linkbox with better power delivery and controller radios and a new cable. Should also make reselling the beyond easier since you can just tell the person to buy the universal cushion on their own.

What ever person took the picture you posted is a sick fuck, and deserves a brutal death.
Ignoring how fucked up that sense of "humor" is, it isn't safe to assume absolutely no liquid gorilla glue could leak out of that bottle.
Especially if that kitten was trying to suck on the cap, and possible bite through with their teeth.
Even if it doesn't happen then, establishing the presence of a bottle which the kitten may think looks like their cat milk bottle may result in them trying to get into it again in the future, possibly when the person isn't around, or when the cap is off.
The potential dangers being poisoning, tearing of skin, eyelids, eyes, throat, lungs, intestines, ect, and becoming unable to breath, open their mouth, open their eyes, vomit properly should a gag reflex be triggered, meow for help, see, ect.
The same with whoever took that photo of the kitten in the toilet bowl, with the text saying "flush?" that one of you retards posts sometimes.
They willfully and intentionally either placed a kitten in a toilet bowl, or took the time to take their phone out and take a photo while the kitten was stuck in the toilet bowl meowing for help.
Ignoring that's it's causing stress to a kitten at a very young age, there's a potential risk for infection presented by leaving the kitten in a toilet bowl for an extended period of time, and poses a risk of the toilet flushing even without the lever being pulled.
(Worst case scenario see pic related, but with more shit, and piss)
In essence, what ever subhumans made those photos were being highly negligent and endangering kitten just for a sick "joke".

TOTAL TRASHNIGGER DEATH
I made a greentext list of reasons why you shouldn't trust Bigscreen, basically listing out all the misleading, shady, and greedy things they've done for the original Beyond and now the new one.
I wrote so much that it would take around 4 posts to get through it all
Would people mind a few big wall-of-text posts in a row or am I better off just putting it in a pastebin?
>>518571012
post da walls
>>518571012
go for it
Reasons not to trust Bigscreen:
Beyond 1:
>Shills with YouTube channels were given headsets far earlier than anyone else and became the main source of impressions for pre-orders. These shills either completely ignored the issues with the lenses or barely mentioned it at all in their reviews
>Bigscreen CEO lied multiple times about the nature of the 75hz/90hz modes and how upscaling is done on the 90hz mode
>Audio strap was announced at the same time as the headset and had a planned release date of Q4 2023, didn't actually start shipping until around Q4 2024. Initially sold at $99 when pre-orders first opened, then quietly got raised at some point to $129. Misleading advertising about how the audio strap can be worn "off-ear" like the Index speakers if desired. Misleading advertising about comparing the sound quality to the Index despite actually being worse than cheap $29 Koss headphones. Strap is also made of extremely flimsy plastic, dirt cheap foam, and catches on your ears every time you attempt to take it on or off.
>Constant shipping delays and broken promises about when headsets and audio straps would ship. Most people who didn't immediately pre-order back in February of 2023 when it was announced had to wait until mid-2024 to receive their headsets.
>Promises of a "Version 2" face cushion revision from the CEO that never came, after people started receiving their headsets and complained that the custom scanned 3D face cushion was uncomfortable and putting pressure on the wrong areas, mainly around the upper nose/temple area. Something called the "bite mod" became popular where people were literally biting into their face cushions and tearing pieces off with their teeth to try and fix the poor pressure distribution
>Linkbox was an issue for some users where it couldn't provide enough power to the headset (Bigscreen 2 comes with a new linkbox, which we'll talk about later)
>Soft strap cable clip clamps and digs in to the cable. Bigscreen insists the damage this causes is just cosmetic. To me it just sounds like a way to make people's cables deterioriate faster intentionally so they can sell more cables in the future.
>Many people had issues where they would need IPD adjustments. The only way to get an IPD adjustment was if you had less than 50 hours in the headset and had to send it back to Bigscreen for them to swap the IPD plates. If you had over 50 hours, they wanted to charge an exorbirant $300 fee just to swap the IPD plates. CEO also lied about the amount of people needing IPD adjustments and would fight with people on twitter about how it wasn't a widespread issue (it was, and obviously was such a big issue that they had to announce a new headset around a year and a half later with an IPD adjustment feature)
>Warranty for dead pixels only covers the center 40% of the display (probably because even back then they already knew that was the only amount you could actually see that wasn't horribly blurry because of the lenses). If you had a dead pixel on a brand new device that wasn't in the center of the display, you were just told you're shit out of luck
>Replacement cushions were initially said to be sold at $49, which creeped up to $59, then $69, and is now an insane $120 after the release of the Beyond 2, despite there being no actual change to the product
>Multiple 3D printed mods had to be made by the community to attempt to fix the shortcomings of the $1000 headset they paid for, including mods for different straps, face cushions, and audio solutions. Some people would even begin to say when recommending the headset to others that if you don't have a 3D printer, don't bother
>$200 restocking fee if you didn't like the headset and wanted to return it (some people will argue this is because of the custom nature of the device, despite the only customized part being the face cushion, which was initially going to be sold at $49)
Beyond 2:
>Same device as the Beyond 1, same displays, same 75hz/90hz with upscaling, same shell, same dimensions, same everything except new lenses (causing very slight weight reduction) and optional eyetracking feature that is only available on Beyond 2E
>They said it was impossible for Beyond 1 to have an IPD adjustment feature in the headset without adding weight and going against their design philosophy. So I guess that was a lie.
>Bragged about how much the edge to edge clarity has improved in their announcement video, yet conveniently left out any mention of glare which was one of the other huge things people complained about with the lenses.
>Intentionally deceitful pricing on the announcement that does not include the price of the face cushion you now have to purchase separately
>Since the device is basically just a Beyond 1S, it has made it next to impossible for existing customers to resell their headsets on the market since the Beyond 2 has completely invalidated the Beyond 1's existence by just being 90% the exact same thing, but with one (or two if you're intersted in eyetracking) huge major better feature. Not to mention the hard-to-sell nature of the device to begin with because of the locked IPD and custom face cushion.
>So if there's no resale value, will Bigscreen offer a trade-in program? No. But they will offer an "upgrade kit" that is actually just a straight up scam making it even MORE impossible to resell your Beyond 1. The upgrade kit does not include a new cushion, cable, straps, or linkbox (despite them admitting to making a new linkbox that fixes issues of the old one). The value of these items individually adds up to $317. The "upgrade" discount that Beyond is offering is $50 (plus $120 for the cushion which they are now charging every customer, whereas they came free with Beyond 1). So that's a $170 discount despite $317 of value missing from this kit. As I said this also makes it even more impossible to sell your Beyond 1 since you would have to sell it without any cables, linkbox, straps, or cushion. Who the fuck is going to buy just a used headset with a fixed IPD with nothing included?
>The upgrade kit is apparently only for a limited-time too, according to a Bigscreen employee we're talking an amount of "weeks" for the honor of being scammed out of products you should be receiving at a terrible discount.
>Accessory pricing that makes even Meta blush. Already talked about how the cushion has gone from $49 to $120 despite being the same product. If you don't want to do the custom fitted face cushion meme for $120 then you get the universal face gasket with the halo mount for $180. $180 for a fucking mount and a universal gasket. I don't think you even get another soft strap with it, pretty sure they just expect you to use the one that came with the headset. That doesn't come with audio either, you'll need to spend another $129 on the audio strap for a whopping $309 combined total. Speaking of the soft strap they're now selling that at $49 which is simply wild.
>>518570701
only the headset? Because I wanna bring in some more stuff, laptop and such.
>Prescription lens inserts from Beyond 1 will NOT work with Beyond 2E (Eyetracking version) UNLESS they were shipped in 2025. You'll have to spend $89 on ANOTHER pair of lens inserts from Bigscreen to work with your Beyond 2E.
>Same shilltuber/influencer marketing where a bunch of people get the device FAR earlier than anyone else, potentially for free even, and all release videos at the same time calling it the best headset ever made while not bringing up ANY faults it has and declaring that Bigscreen has "won VR", whatever that means.
Sorry it was 5 posts.

Why are you seething so much instead of doing your thing?
>>518571575
I'm just gonna chime in here and play devils kike-vocate on the whole pricing situation.
Bigscreen are not Meta. They do not have the financial capital or alternative revenue streams that allow them to price stuff attractively in a "loss-leader" fashion.
They're making money pretty much solely at the initial point of sale for every headset. So there is a need to gouge as much from the consumer at that point so they can maintain profit/stability since it's not like the average customer is gonna come back yearly to buy a new HMD or anything.
This is kinda a bullet you'll have to cope&seethe about with any kind of high-end niche goods. Unless you'd rather they sell everything at half the price then rape elsewhere with some ridiculous subscription/walled garden bullshit of some kind.
>>518574262
But I have to pay money for a product! That's... bad!
Isn't all this talk about who to kick out similar to all the furry stuff, or even individuals of an unsatisfactory nature such as A, C and IH?
>>518574334
More dishonest arguments from Bigscreen cultists
>>518574334
>145% price increase on a product is actually... le good!
>>518574354
It all boils down to "You have to stop liking the things I hate"
>>518574570
Then don't buy it, not my fault you don't wanna spend money on a niche tech product. Go buy the better cheaper headsets.
>>518574570
You are free to buy a different product.
>>518574717
>>518574768
I'm just pointing out how greedy a 145% price increase on a product is. Why do you feel the need to defend a 145% price increase from a company as if it's a personal slight to you?
>>518574882
Is beyond even a multimillion company?
Why do you feel the need to attack a 145% price increase from a company as if it's a personal slight to you?
I don't like how all the BSB marketing shots are conveniently hiding the cables on the other side. Normie friend of mine came up to me all excited like "WOAH DUDE THEY FINALLY MADE VR THE SIZE OF GOGGLES" and I had to explain to him that it's still all a niche and you're still stuck to your PC.
>>518574882
I don't care about Beyound as soon as I realized they are cucking 90 Hz mode out of the full resolution, it a trash product. Who cares what price it has.
>>518574951

>make better product

NOOO STOP BEING GREEDY
>>518575328
It is the same product. We are talking about the face cushion. Nothing has changed with it but it has increased in price by 145%.
I hope they open sauce this eye tracking thing. Having only one tiny camera that does a good enough job would be a game changer for third party addons.
>>518574882
>make better product
>charge more for it
yeah i've never seen a company ever dfo this before!
>>518575406
The face cushion that lost them a fuck ton of money because it relied on 3d scans that they had to remake over and over?
Yep, sounds like greed to charge more for that loss-leader.
>>518575328
>>518575475
It is the same product retards, they did not make a better product. It is the same product that had a price increase.
>>518575548

>>518574427

>>518575660
>Conveniently ignoring that you now have to pay $120 or $180 for a cushion in addition to the price of the base hmd which makes it the same price or more as Beyond 1 anyway
I'm done talking with you fanboys, it's very tiresome when you're all just as dishonest as the company you simp for.

>>518575960
your point is that that's what the price of the cushion always costs and now they're just showing it by reducing the headset price, but this is demonstratable not true since it was sold for $49 for replacements
>you can't criticize bigscreen because... you just can't! okay?
>>518576436
Feel free to criticize them by saying their new headset is way more expensive than a similar headset

>>518576651
Yeah the argument is they are charging more for their faceplate for a new headset than a replacement one. This is explained by new headsets more likely to need adjustments and a re-make from a 3d scan that didn't work well. So not only is there a valid reason, the very idea of accusing a company of greed is retarded. Yes retard they're selling product for money.
LEAVE THE MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR COMPANY ALONE NOOOOOOOOOW
>>518575548
Well in that case, clever guys like you can just buy a used bigscreen 1 at a sharp discount and get the same product for cheap!
>>518577285
I don't know how I can make it any clearer to you braindead fucking troglodytes. I have said over and over I am referring to the face cushion, not the entire headset.
>>518577382

They will DEFINITELY answer "Because we are greedy."
>>518512738

>Hi, I'm the guy who found this information and passed it to Brad. This display model was last mentioned in the Linux Kernel Mailing List last month (versus 6 months ago when it was committed for PoC-F), so I'm of the belief that it will likely ship with final because Deckard is in EV2 now, which for Valve is one step away from mass production. If not the same display, it will be a similar one at the very least.
>Sorry folks, OLED isn't happening. Don't get your hopes up for them to change it.

>>518585806
two more weeks for the biggest disappointment in VR hardware history!
Lets be real, it doesn't matter what specs Deckard will have most people are going to be disappointed because it will never match up to the hype
This is why they never made a Half Life 3.

>snapdragon instead of some form of AMD APU so we get at-least rtx 2070 performance
wow its dead jim
how are they even planning for it to run steam deck games if it wont run 75% of the library
>>518586021
2.1k is still an upgrade over index.. and that's the copium now. It really should have at least matched the quest 3, since the quest 4 is gonna come out with like 2.5k screens and eye tracking.
Well maybe, knowing meta they will just refuse to put eye tracking in because it doesn't line up with their stupid corporate vision
>>518586021
For me personally I don't care either way. I just want new games. I couldn't care less about hardware. What use is new hardware when we're playing the same 3 games?
>>518586237
Maybe the Deckard will have some way to make every flat game somehow VR compatible.
Guys calm down. Nothing's confirmed yet. Even if these specs are real, we could be getting other stuff that make it worth it, like really really good lenses.

Unpopular opinion: Q3 displays and lenses are good enough. I'd rather have top notch streaming and the option to plug in a cable without some forced encoding garbage and no forced zuck-account. Is this too much to ask for?
>>518586905
Isn't that because the pico 4 pro doesn't work with steamlink
maybe if it did then it'd matter
Wireless + foveated encoding is THE standard for headsets.

Just please don't get fucking addicted. Alcohol is a perfectly alright way to have fun, but it feels to me like late joiner would definitely be in a risk group. Genuine alcohol addiction is the most revolting thing there is, and if I'd have a potential to have this problem, I'd enjoy sitting on my ass in an instance and feel like it's kinda stiff and boring rather than keep drinking and end up like some people I saw going down through my life.
if you have any reason to not drink, do not drink. if you don't have a specific reason, be very careful. The moment you feel like "that was a tough day, i *need* a drink", you're at the last red flag before the downfall.if you're confident it's all good, grab some good generic beer for starters. beers can be very offensive flavor-wise, don't buy fancy ones without knowing what are you doing. drinks are the miracle of the universe as long as you're not mixing vodka with cola, all of the famous recipes are famous for a good reason and will pretty much never go wrong. Martini, Bloody Mary, Irish Coffee, Margaritas, even if you won't end up liking it, you definitely won't regret trying it out

It's all social retards that require imbibing a bottle of pic related or two before they can even put on the goggles or they are 'too shy' to talk. At least the ones here pretend not to be coomers (even they are all behind closed doors and most are crossboard posters anyway)
>>518622849
Is liking vr games and not erp posting really such an unpopular opinion around here? It sounds more like a cope to me
>>518623507
If you saw how fast the other thread moved than this one these days, you'd understand. It's not that it's 'unpopular', it's just that the vast majority either also coom and erp, or don't mind if others do enough that they post in /trash/ anyway.
And then it's a self-accumulating cycle where people see which is faster and has more 'engagement' and post in that thread almost exclusively, leaving only a handful of crossposters and a smaller handful of "never coomers" that are the only ones who post here in the slower thread.
Before I get accused of being a coomer or a tranny, i'm not endorsing this as a positive state of affairs, i'm just being honest with things instead of covering my eyes and pretending it's not happening.
So, once me, a spoon-fed Festival Plaza trannie, starts playing this game with vrg people. Am I supposed to leave all my past friends and dive deep into this culture? Everyone of my friends who joins of me gets immediately kicked from the instance, is this some weird fucking cult?

I thought being "4chan" was more in line with not having a thin skin over shitposts
>>518625130
>anon shits himself for two dozen posts and derails the thread with his temper tantrum
>"you should have a thicker skin"
doesn't really matter in this context though, i'm just pointing out why the other thread is faster than this one
it's an objective fact that this thread has very very high standards on what an "acceptable post" is, especially considering that 95% of /vg/ is people posting softcore gacha porn

yes, unironically. Someone else's temper tantrum isn't your problem. Just report the post and don't let them have their way by actually leaving

I was blind, but now through the wise words spelled in your post I was able to see the truth within. You're absolutely correct about the current state of /vrlg/ which is a far deviation of what 4chan was originally ment to be, thus making this the proper heir to my attention. Thank you anon for your regards, I'll keep them close to my heart and will do the best to spread your gospel amid the uneducated trash plebs.
>>518625668
Some people like a thread where they can relax.
Why are you arguing with me, though? Do you want vrchat posting to come back here or something?
>>518585720
It makes no sense to ship this
It would literally be a quest 3 with good audio and eye tracking, and no AR features like time of flight, all for a whopping $1200. The biggest selling point of eye tracking is foveated rendering /encoding that enables high resolution displays, and it makes it better for general computing and desktop use, and that also requires high resolution displays. The next biggest selling point is weak stand alone hardware can run games better and zuck should've done it, ok. Doesn't come close to making it worth $1200. Then zuck releases the quest 4 and you wasted your time. Then zuck releases the 4S and brushes his butthole with valve's toothbrush. Deckard ahs to hit some middle market where people want a high end headset but they don't want overpriced apple shit. Deckard doesn't even always have to be competitive, as that's not the plan anyway. Valve will partner with other headset makers who want to use steam OS.
>>518626054
"Lookin' good" posting really buckbroke him, huh.
>>518626202
>PoC stands for Proof of Concept. And were different variations of the Deckard project worked on internally at Valve
>>518626109
>Some people like a thread where they can relax.
fair enough, but it's not "more 4chan"
I brought it up because it would suck if this thread died in favor of the trash thread. Sure, a good amount of anons from here could tolerate it to move there but I couldn't stand to post among the trash shit, and I know a decent amount of other anons who wouldn't either.
>>518626265
that's AI if you couldn't tell
>>518626109
>Some people like a thread where they can relax.
i believe our definitions of the word "relax" differ by a slight amount based on the context of this response
>>518626279
Is this a larp or not?
>Hi, I'm the guy who found this information and passed it to Brad. This display model was last mentioned in the Linux Kernel Mailing List last month (versus 6 months ago when it was committed for PoC-F), so I'm of the belief that it will likely ship with final because Deckard is in EV2 now, which for Valve is one step away from mass production. If not the same display, it will be a similar one at the very least.
If that is only a month old and they are still considering it that looks bad. What does the concept proove? That you shouldn't manufacture this?
>>518626054
How does someone fall off like this after 7 years?
>>518626513
Fuck, I couldn't tell at all. It even has the usual eye tracking glitch an 0:01.

>>518626581
anon... this proof of concept is several years old and was when valve was tinkering around with different ideas and still figuring out what they even wanted to do
it is not related to the current EV2 model

For reference, that's the LKML comment that I had to dig around for.
Whether that's something they're referencing since they knew the information was already out there or it's the final one is kinda up in the air until they either announce the headset or someone leaks EV2 details.
Doesn't look great, but I don't really see the point in freaking out over speculation when no one even knows anything about the EV versions.
I can stomach no face, but no uOLED would be so bad.
Looked at steam charts for VR games just now and my mind boggled. Vampire: The Masquerade - Justice peaked at 43 players and it was one of the biggest PCVR releases last year. CROSSFIRE: SIERRA SQUAD peaked at 69 and that was one of the biggest PCVR games in 2023. What the fuck
>>518628163
>this proof of concept is several years old
Do we know that for sure? The PoC only being 6 months old doesn't really make sense either, but there's no other date I see tied to anything there.
any anons use vr to play flatscreen games? i'm considering buying a vr but only if it can replace my monitor, at least for gaming, for all video games.
i've heard various applications like vorpx and virtual desktop can just put the screen in your face, but then would you still get eye tracking? could you turn it off? how much would it lower fps if i just connected it to my pc? help me out here.
>>518628442
vampire is niche, same as crossfire
into the radius 2 had almost 2k concurrent and they made $3mil+ just on pcvr
>>518628163
So are you saying the quote is fake? It says POC-F was committed 6 months ago. You can't just argue with a contradiction, which random internet use am I supposed to believe?
>>518628720
>>518628798
going from PoC -> EV2 in 6 months is quite literally impossible
>>518628442
>it was one of the biggest PCVR releases last year
Metro Awakening peaked at 627 and ItR 2 peaked at 507
>>518628726
vision pro is the only headset in the monitor replacement territory (barely)
>>518628270
>>518628374
who made the LKML comments, valve?
>>518628442
Sierra Squad's release was very fucking rough and them having an early access period beforehand so people knew about the problems via word of mouth killed any chance of a big release peak. They largely went back and patched the issues, but no one cared because even at it's core, it wasn't a single player CoD like people were hoping but instead an arcade lightgun game.
>>518628921
>ItR 2 peaked at 507
>>518628726
The resolution isn't good enough for all flat games (especially ones with a lot of text) but it is good enough for like console games, especially when you can get comfy and have giant screen floating above you. Also good for retro games in emuVR or similar.
>>518628875
I probably should've been clear that I understand that it's not 6 months old, but several years old for the last version before EV1 doesn't really sound right either.
>>518629045

i don't mean magically putting a monitor infront of me using ar. but rather putting the image super close to my face without anything in the background like using a monitor in real life.
>>518629150
Is that game even any good or is it one of those fun with friends games? Looks rough, never tried either one
>>518628923
This also concerns me, even ignoring desktop use a 2160p LCD wouldn't be competitive with a normal display for games despite being 3D. $1200 deckard or $1200 HDR display or just run steam VR on a quest 3 for $500
>>518629150
No idea why steamcharts didn't show it correctly, but according to that site Metro hit 1023 too, so that's nice to see.
>>518629608
I think if you're consuming 1080p content then even the Q3 panels are competitive. Pop a big screen a few virtual meter in front of you and play your vidya like that.
I played that new zelda game like this for a few weeks in my bed like that.
>>518629568
The same hording-instinct-inducing chores simulator.
The gameplay is retardedly simple, mostly about inventory management.
Also very buggy.
Play the first game instead if you hadn't, it's a more complete experience.

a 2160p LCD puts it on par with the reverb G2, which was releasedover 4 years ago
>>518629045
>>518629440
Actually missed it, it's the same guy that pushed at least one of the commits in the post from >>518585720 and it's co-developed by a guy that's pushed some valve licensed stuff before.
From a quick search, didn't seem like either one worked directly at Valve though.
2160^2 LCD screens for deckard are not happening.
You have to be literally retarded to believe it.
Valve pushed for high FOV with index, most likely will be the same with deckard.
2k with high fov is just going to look like ass.
>>518630694
2160x2160 also somehow would still put it above what the Beyond 2 gets as input in 90Hz mode.
If they had actually fixed that, it'd be way more tempting right now.
