Don't forget sprint. Everyone forgets sprint. It's incredibly fast and controllable and can be comboed with pillar (because the end position of pillar is the same) so you can spam pillar and sprint at the same time. But yes with those moves you can still do crazy shit. Like disc+straight under a grounded structure to blast yourself backwards.

Assuming you have a good PC, HL:Alyx is a good way to start to get your VR legs and you won't want to go back to it once you've gotten them because it'll annoy you with how many concessions were made to try and keep people from feeling sick. VTOLVR is a GOAT flight-sim that doesn't need a HOTAS. Walkabout Minigolf is my most played game by a mile, and another for starting to get used to VR while also being a blast, and you can play online with a pirated copy from either standalone or PCVR. Batman is the one standalone game that I'd strongly recommend if you enjoyed the Arkham games before it.

i've mentioned it many times before but the way i did it, without getting sick even ONCE, is i would take off my headset for a couple seconds every 2/3/4/5 minutes of movement. i avoided vertical movement at first too, only horizontal.
everytime i felt woozy i'd take off the headset. because im scared of vomiting my guts out and generally hate being sick, i would avoid this at all costs, and my method worked.
now i have full vr legs. dont be afraid of taking off the headset for a bit even several times a minute. dont force yourself. give yourself breaks.

If Valve use LCD for Deckard they need to implement some form of content-adaptive brightness control. It noticably improves the blacks in darker scenes on Quest 3. Still not true blacks nor does the color contrast hold a candle to OLEDs though.

It's very very cool, but don't get your hopes up for some serious larps unless you'll end up finding the right people to do that. Most of the time, it's random spontaneous outbursts of silly little larps between two-three anons when they have the same idea, or similarly themed avatar. One time I saw people playing D&D, they were using matching avatars and doing wacky stuff, that was cool as hell.

"don't get your hopes up" is hands down the best approach you can have for this game. If you come without expectations, it's absolutely lovely, if you expect other people to do stuff you want, but you're not capable of convincing them, you end up sad and angry. So, no high hopes.

Is it possible for a mod to read which map is being played? Gas grenades are aids on Vertigo, they're damaging people through the floor and it doesn't even feel like you're in the gas cloud because it's hitting the top of the player collider or something.
The T side attack and rotation routes run right under the upper chokepoints you'd expect to get gassed so if you move anywhere on the T side of the map you're dodging ceiling clouds. It's hardly an edge case too, I counted 7 gas grenades in one round today, some thrown from teammates making it worse for us.
I am biased because I don't like gas much to begin with but if it can be disabled for this map it probably should be or it's going to turn more people against it.

i love the gas, real cs has an area denial grenade as well. got so many funny kills with it so far, one which was a tactical outplay by all accounts, i shot someone a couple times, i knew they were low and holding an angle, so i threw the gas nade around a corner and got the kill. it felt great.

Sounds like that would have worked with a frag grenade though? As a tool for flushing people out it's quite poor if they have more HP because it requires you to watch them or they'll escape, happened to someone today in a position where a frag would have been perfect. That it also obscures vision makes catching them escaping harder too. It's better suited to wide area denial, covering the bomb sites or approaches with like an upgraded smoke grenade.
The problem with gas for that purpose is the size, it's too large and that it lasts for too long which makes it very effective even in large bomb sites like the ones in Studio. In flat CS you can also counter molotovs but there's no counter here. We'd need a gas mask item but I don't think preventing gas damage is something a mod can do without somehow remaking gas grenades entirely.

There is a mod for molotovs in Pavlov but it's part of a niggerfaggot server modpack that spawns items for people and all sorts of other garbage.

Do a gesture to empower your hand with firebolt or whatever. Your hand is now a gun with 10 shots. Repeat gesture to "reload". Hold attack button to charge it into a grenade, flamethrower, or some other secondary attack depending on the spell.
Various different types of attack spells for different situations.
Conjure a shield which is basically your healthbar. Repeat it to heal between engagements.

Knuckles and their extra input are mostly useless. The only good gimmick I remember was squeezing the controller very hard, and then alien blobs were kinda puffing out, that was cool. My cope is that the deckard has a 2.8" screen as rumored but the LCD is just a stand-in for prototypes and dev kits, and the finished product will be some high res OLED that at least approaches 3000px. Micro oled is expensive and probably cost inefficient compared to larger displays.It has insane PPI, so its the perfect future display, but right now they are 1" so max fov is gimped. You can only get the lenses so close to the eyes. Valve really gives a shit about FOV. That's why the index had an eye relief adjustment which I wish the quest had. FOV is expensive in VR so any you can get for free, you take.

I'm a simfag so I might be ignoring many good things, but IMO the only VR racing sim that plays properly on a controller is Dirt Rally/WRC. Every track racing game sucks because you really need wheel precision at high speeds, but DR just kinda smoothens out your input, you don't go too fast in general, and game is all about sudden movements anyway, so it's very much doable. Even did one online event around here on a controller when my wheel broke down. If you enjoy the idea of rally and simcade is good for you, DR/WRC is definitely worth a shot. Unfortunately, it's not exactly GT/FH kind of game.

Assetto Evo seems to be trying to steal license system from GT, but again, that's not exactly a controller game.
