seems like it would be premature to playtest the deckard with VR influencers if it wasn't at least at EV1, which I think brad confirmed that a while back. That means they've made something they would like to release so long as no ways to improve it are found. Also the whole lens stack and hmd form are designed around the displays and what size they are, how power efficient they are, how bright they are. I just don't see any way it could be like "just imagine this but with a better display" and you would get any useful feedback or generate hype.

I think it's technically possible, but you'll probably be pretty constrained. I don't know if you can run the full linux steamvr driver on arm, which you'll need to read the basic screen distortion mesh (even if you don't do any sort of actual 6dof tracking with lighthouses). You could do the distortion yourself of course, but it'd be a lot of work. Combined with reading a face-mounted camera and compositing your tui, that seems pretty ambitious on a raspi. I don't know how much power the BSB uses, but it is powered by a separate power-only usb-a port that goes into the linkbox, so you could just plug that into a separate power bank.

If you're hacking together some sort of augmented reality view with a flat screen, you're probably better off trying one of the chink "display glasses". They appear as regular monitors and do the basic distortion and projection of the virtual monitor themselves without any extra software.

Hmm, if you don't need optical passthrough, a cheap used phone and literal google cardboard for the lenses might work well; then power is a non-issue. For the display glasses, xreal is the main brand I'm aware of. The older ones with smaller slightly smaller FOV are pretty cheap on ebay. You might like Sprint Vector, an early armswinging racing game. MP is broken/dead but you can still race against bots and the environment art style is pretty neat. I also liked Until You Fall, which can get pretty sweaty at the later levels. There's also all the old climbing games and some of the newer gorilla-tag ish platformers: Climbey, To the Top, Stilt, etc. If you're not burned out on minecraft, vivecraft has the climbing and manual tool swinging too, if you want to actually punch some trees for fitness.

On around this day last year, I bought a quest 3 and started exploring VR.

I have to admit it opened my eyes to the future where we might just see hardware screens become obsolete.

I use my quest 3 daily to watch movies in bigscreen, to jerk off to porn, I play some fun games like walkabout minigolf, modded Skyrim VR with Mad God Overhaul where you can grope and fuck every village lady that looks like a big titty anime girl now or go dungeon crawling and shoot spells in 2 directions at once aiming with your hands.

The games are not as fun as I expected because they're so fucking intense, but they are more fun than I thought they would be, like the batman game is fun to fight in, golf games and archery games and shit like that are really fun and feel great thanks to haptics.

The porn is so good I am considering a life-time membership to SLR or some other VR pornsite, I am addicted to this I must admit.

Hell I even had some cool conversations and fun hangouts with people watching sports or talking about random shit.

Overall, I just want to appreciate and say I am hopeful for the future since this shit and this is the only thing that makes me feel remotely as a kid in the 90s where technology kept moving forward instead of bogging down like the past 10 years.

I hope it will get better in the next few years that when I travel in my car or something I always pack a VR thing with me for multimedia and fun entertainment.

While watching guntoob, I came across the single point sling push method for low recoil sub machine guns. I wanted to know if that would work better than a VR stock. I've tried a VR stock in the past, back when I had an Rift. It was DIY but I didn't like having to worry about it. And it didn't really help that much. That was several years ago. So I bought a cheap magpull sling to try it. I attached it to the front controller with some paracord in 3 points. If its just one point or 2, when I push that hand out, it torques it to the side which is not that comfortable. 3 points make it rigid. Although, some of the cord goes over the grip which is annoying. I think I'll try attaching it to a glove with a magnetic quick disconnect. So the controller isn't annoying attached to the sling. Here's my thoughts. Its better than no sling for long med-long range shooting. It feels stable and repeatable. But thats only if you are standing or crouching. It does nothing or slightly worse when prone. (iirc a VR stock would be very good prone). Its also dependent on how good your tracking is. I think some of that paracord covers the tracking points. Its less in the way than a stock but little more annoying to use. The tightening strap is pretty easy to find but the sling likes to slip a bit on my body so sometimes its not in the right place. I'll think about how to improve it.

Another anon mentioned that I could use some kind of constraint to avoid clipping, and at least, for one moment, I thought I managed to properly implement it using rotation constraints (Skirt_0_N, having as source for the constraint the transform of Skirt_0_N-1), however, after trying to move the leg so it collided with any bone, except the "root", it simply ignored the collision.

A bit unsure what you are doing, but in order for got physbones and constraints to affect the same bone, you need to enable "Is Animated" at the bottom of the physbone component. Without colliders, I imagine you'd want to have a very low rotation limit on the first bone, an also a rotation constraint it to the thigh ( relevant side and a mix of both for the center). The weight should be relatively low, but enough for the skirt to move with your thighs that they don't intersect ( as much ). You don't necessarily want this setup for all the skirt bones; only where needed.
The problem with physbones is that they will prefer to slide around colliders rather than being pushed by them. Using rotation limits to prevent them from doing so is a common approach, but means you don't get much side-to-side swaying.
Using a rotation/parent constraint for the first/main part of the shirt, and only relying on actual physbones for the lower half is another.
Colliders in an X shape between the hip of one side the knee of another to prevent physbones from slipping through the crack in the middle.
There's also the terrible option of using inside colliders, which is my personal poison of choice.

you can do an X or you can just make them a horizontal line between the legs
x sometimes doesn't work if you have a very flowy dress that has smaller bones because they'll find the gaps in the X and freak out or get stuck

There is a specific script execution order which IIRC is Animators -> Physbones -> Constraints. This behaves differently in game versus in unity so do not assume a combination of physbones and constraints will work in VRChat unless you have tested in game.

As far as I can tell IsAnimated does not do anything for physbones and constraints since the constraints are executed after the physbone updates its rest pose. You might assume that without an animator the constrained transforms would persist to the next frame and become the new rest pose (works in unity) but that does not seem to be the case in game.

You cannot put a constraint as a child of a physbone in the heirarchy if the physbone uses colliders. It will work in unity but behave very weirdly in game, the physbone solves collisions from its rest state and then the constraints get applied to the solved physbone.

In my experience if you want a no-clip skirt your best option is to constrain the top row of transforms to either the left/right upper leg transforms (in some ratio based on how close the transform is to the left/right) or constrain it to 4 transforms (upper legs + diagonal down bones) and then put your physbone components on the second row of transforms.

Its not as hard to set up as it sounds but it uses a lot of physbone components.

Yeah, Alpha is a 4th color channel of sorts (alongside red, green and blue) that's often used for transparency.

Spinball is awesome, it's in MR so you can see your room, it creates a 2x2m court where you have a net in the center on the floor and walls you can bounch a ball off of, it's very fucking intense as you're constantly turning your body and doing quick sprints to reposition yourself.

For my fat ass I wish it was like 4x4 but I dont think the hardware has the capacity for that big a field yet. Very fun haptics when you whack the ball with your tennis thing.

By far the most physically demanding VR thing I have ever tried.

You can play aagainst increasingly fucking OP AIs or there's a (buggy) matchmaking feature, or you'll need to ask people on the spinball discord if they're on and up for a match as there's not more than a handful of players. I think it's cute you can chat with them while playing.

you could make a low poly mesh (same skinrenderer) that's roughly the same shape as the pink part of the skirt and weighted the same and use a really simple stencil setup on a unloaded material (so like an opaque shader with no textures or features enabled that let's you do stencil ops) so when it's on it prevents your clipping legs from being seen from any angle where the legs are clipping through the pink part of the dress
for cultural reasons people are deathly afraid of adding more materials because they've been told
more materials = bad
but that statement always had the assumption that those materials are fully loaded with textures and features
more complex materials = bad
more simple materials = good
if you can split big complex materials with large textures into simpler materials with simpler features and smaller/less textures on the same mesh/skin renderer it's usually better as long as splitting it up doesn't result in lots of overdraw

for PC vrchat most shader features that claim to be some kind of optimising feature that just stacks yet another feature onto a material already full of features is performance live action roleplay because you can almost guarantee when someone uses that feature they're using it on an avatar or a shader setup with features that entirely erase any "performance" gain that feature is said to provide or simply make it worse

so yea don't be afraid to look into a simple low poly cone with simple stencil material and stencil your legs out from clipping through the dress

substance painter to generate and handpaint masks, guides and "Draft" versions of what you want to put down and then save it as a .psd
then use those layers/guides to then hand paint in high quality the actual textures

you would use stuff like AO maps and light generators to simplify figuring out where to put your high, mid and low tones
and just paint simple details using substance painters dogshit terrible paintbrush engine
then go over it all with the high quality brushes and tools in clipstudio
