Magnets are not a problem, Fluxpose is looking for 20kHz oscilating magnetic signal, not electrostatics. The problem is when ferromagnetics distort the emitted field, it usually means you need to have some ferromagnetics between emitter and receiver. Receiver anchors itself by measuring 20kHz field intensity and direction.
Steel stripper poles might be actually problematic, and strippers most likely won't be able to use fluxpose.

I have a biggest issue with 20kHz emitter, I wonder if any radioelectonic governing bodies would certify such emitter. Most likely they will, because to create a long distance 20kHz emissions you need kilometer long antenas, so the fluxpose field will definitely be very short range. Still, it's a very unusual device and might be a source of interference to audio/video equipment.

It seems very promising, but delays will be inevitable. Releasing hardware is hard.

Afterwards, something COMPLETELY different. SPEED RACER practice. Speed Racer cars from the Speed Racer movie have been implemented "realistically" in Assetto Corsa. Cars have 4WD, 4 wheel steering, "fly by wire" system, which calculates optimal angle of "drift", insane power and downforce. And additionally, one more trick - clutch pedal operates a fucking JET ENGINE AFTERBURNER which gives you MORE speed and, if carefully controlled, INSANE cornering ability. It's a crazy thing to drive, it's a death race, it's insane, it's FUN. You WILL need CSP 0.2.9.

I run my PC off Wifi (the Metric 35 connection aka the X.X.69.X network), and use Windows ISC to connect my 2.5Gb ethernet port on my PC to my dedicated QuestPro 6e router (metric 25, the X.X.0.X network), running it in AP mode
I keep getting weird disconnection errors and troubleshooting all levels of DNS have resulted in no change
I suspect this now to be the culprit, that i have 2 last resorts out, one of them pointing to my quest wifi router since its a hardline connection
I tried making a persistent route with a lower metric pointing to my actual gateway out on the 69.1 address, but i dont think it actually worked so i removed it
is there something im missing here in terms of syntax to tell it to stop prioritizing traffic to my Quest AP router?

Well i found the gui on changing preference in the network panel at least now and its changes are reflected in route print. im still dropping a few packets to ping 1s and 8s but we'll see
The bridge connection feature never really worked for me though for some reason, so i prefer to keep the isc shit working as is since it also somehow acts as a de-facto firewall preventing my quest from touching the internet and only my PC which is fine by me.

I would have no doubts were it not for the Frame allowing for parallel connections, the dongle is meant to be used in conjunction with your existing WiFi so they can dedicate the 6GHz connection to just video streaming while the less intensive shit gets passed over the conventional network. One guy has a full OSC individual jointed finger setup with the quest finger tracking and it's pretty good. But most people use index style tracking and it gets most signs across just fine. People with general vr hand tracking, just the 8 handshapes have a few more limitations, but it's such a long history of sign language in vrchat that the adaptations are highly regularized and recognizable and easy to do, so people still have full conversations regardless.

The starter assault rifle is like the best all around gun, good TTK, fast firerate, easy reload, can outsnipe snipers. MP5 yeah kind of sucks but atleast on medic you get to throw it away pretty quick.

The bolt action sniper is the worst gun in the game so don't even bother. When you unlock the SVD you can actually shoot people at range so you'll have to use your pistol to reach level 3 for SVD and 4 for the deagle.

Surprisingly not a bad experience. Default sticks lasted about a year and a bit of non-heavy usage before issues started setting in so we'll see how long the aliexpress replacements last.

here's my dogshit take:
i have a q3. its a huge upgrade from the index on almost every level.
the only case in which i would want a frame is if i wanted to have what i have now but wireless (i play wired, for no perceivable latency and almost no compression). the standalone performance of the frame is gonna be like 25% better than q3 (not enough to run stuff like alyx)
so really, why would i spend probably around 700/800 bucks on this device when i already have 90% of the experience.

also helps that i am the kind of person that is happy with the "good enough" and dont need "the best".
i think this headset is going to be great for those still stuck on vives and indexes. but for me? nah.

Quest 3 has better screens, but it's an overall downgrade in every other area and hybrid tracking sucks ass.
Index was and is amazing, but now it's outdated. I will buy a frame to replace my quest and pray someone makes it a LH headset somehow.
Until then, the Vive Pro 2 I bought on sale yesterday can hopefully replace my Index and Quest.

I am in the same boat. If the frame is not too expensive, I might simply have both... it's hard to say. Screen door is a bit shit, half hand tracking is not as nice as full hand tracking, monochromatic pass-through sucks, but almost everything else about the frame sounds like a definite upgrade, and SteamOS is bound to be much better than facebook's dogshit android fork that doesn't even have a proper file manager.

At the same time, it'd be less insane to upgrade my horrible laptop instead to something with a functioning battery and more than 128 GB of storage, and continue using my quest until either a slightly better headset comes along than the frame, or there are enough 3rd party upgrades for the frame to add most of the things that are missing, than to try to use a VR headset as both a laptop and a VRC device. I think it comes down to price. For ~600 maybe I can justify it to myself, but 1000+ it's not enough of an upgrade. I use my quest ONLY for VR, but if the flat gaming experience and linux laptop experience on the frame is good enough, then that's a value add to the system that the quest has no answer for.

It works almost without issue and you can tweak the settings a bit to make the compression less aggressive if you have a minion router. As long as your headset and PC are on the same network it can connect. Quest finger tracking passes through it just fine, and while it could have more features, it gets the job done. the app has almost all the settings needed except for bitrate, but you can go to the directory of the app and change the bitrate in a separate executable with all the fine controls and settings.

personally i like it over VD because i can push the bitrate super high and also it has less latency. and im going wired. you need a good usb 3.0 cable for that though, i recommend getting a power injection cable so you can charge while playing. i think my cable is made by ugreen or some shit like that.

Regular weekly events, just lurk the threads for a while. If you like dancing there is a dancing instance most weekdays in about 6 hours. Mahjong groups are almost every day. Drinking groups too if you are an alcoholic. EU plays games on the weekends but NA doesn't believe in gaming. Sometimes there are less frequent big events but less this year than last year and they aren't aimed at new people so much.

Most of the 4chan adjacent VRC community is in private discords and barely look at /vrg/ so you'll have to go to weekly instances to meet people first. Think of it as a way to screen people who either won't fit with the community or will cause problems later. Make sure you are in a booth avatar because if you have a particularly tasteless TDA or any kind of furry, you'll get kicked and blacklisted immediately. Alright, so here's my experience after a weekend wearing the Galaxy XR.

It's an uncomfortable piece of shit that I have no idea how escaped the design labs of Samsung, but that's not news and by the end of the weekend, I was either growing used to the pain and not noticing or subconsciously finding a way to wear it that was only mildly annoying instead of blinding pain distraction like it was at the start of the weekend after more then 30 minutes. I have no idea why the fuck they didn't even pad the backstrap better, the "padding" is like an eight of an inch think or some shit so it's barely a step above strapping bare plastic to yourself.

The panels are really fucking nice, 4k OLED is really pretty if you can drive it at an acceptable resolution even if it's sub-native. Knowing the blacks were deeper, I was able to see it, but I've grown up staring at screens enough that my brain translates LCD black to be black so I will say that if you're a long time gamer, it's probably not as important. FOV was about the same as a Q3, roughly 105 horizontal and 85ish vertical when I was wearing it, probably a little higher if you really shove your face into the lenses. The lenses on the one I was using were markedly inferior to the Quest 3's. The sweetspot is not tiny but not nearly as generous as the Q3's, there was significant darkening if I looked into the upper 1/4 of my FOV, and most annoyingly, there was a slight fisheye effect or something that was causing things to distort ever so slightly when I tilted my head up and down. I wouldn't say any of these are deal breakers, but Samsung getting their premium headset mogged by a 500 dollar Q3 is pretty embarrassing. The mic is also appreciably worse than the Q3's, but not unusable like some of the early HMDs which is also insane to me that they cheaped out on it at this price point. The speakers are Q3 tier in quality, imo, but with better spacilization that does remind me of the Index but I’m not an audiophile.

Eye and face tracking work really nicely. It was able to do tongue, eyebrows, and all the various normal stuff, with my only real complaint was that when I had a neutral face, I saw some mild twitching but that could easily be on the public avatar I was using to test facetracking having very exaggerated expressions since I didn’t see it when I was using another, less memey avatar then the Meta-man. Eyetracking is accurate enough that I was quickly using the gaze and pinch based interaction with the OS instead of pure hand tracking like the Q3. However, the OS is complete garbage, being rife with quirks and bugs that impact you even if you’re only planning to use it for PCVR, and the surrounding software isn’t much better. It’s clearly not ready for showtime, and I have no idea why Google hasn’t rolled out a patch since they finalized the current OS version in June. Thankfully, AndroidXR is open enough that the community can mess with things and there’s already some quick fixes for some simple problems. The biggest problem is that right now it’s throttling itself even just streaming PCVR, especially if you try to push the framerate above 72, but the VD devs claim Samsung is aware and we’re just waiting for them to push a fix, but I personally was having issues and framerate drops even trying to just maintain 72 with the same encoding settings I was able to use without issues on the Q3, despite the Q3’s cooling fan being much quieter then the XR’s.

I will say that it’s nice that Samsung is a real company, since because I’m getting issues above and beyond even the reported problems the XR has from scouring the VD desktop Discord, I’m exchanging it under warranty with zero complaints from them, and I’ll post a follow up if the second one is better. For all my seething, I do really like a lot of aspects of this thing, and I see a lot of potential in it if they fix the software since comfort is ultimately something I can solve myself. It also helps a lot that I got it substantially below the advertised price, around where a BSB2E would come in, which makes it a lot more palatable to have some compromises and problems. I wouldn’t recommend this thing to anyone atm, but I would say that there’s probably no reason to even consider the QPro anymore since that’s an even worse piece of shit, especially once the big issues with the XR get worked out.

tl;dr Samsung should be ashamed of themselves, but it's got some promise

It was weird. Looking at the top of the screen made the scene significantly darker but not just at the edge but screen as if I dropped the brightness on the panels, looking at the bottom made things brighter. I'm hoping that I just got a lemon since the distortion artifacts I noticed should have been readily apparent to anyone who looked through the lenses for more then 30 seconds and no one talked about it in any of the reviews or consumer comments I read prior to purchasing. I also realize I failed to mention that there is also a very strong glare when you're in a dark scene with a bright source of light, for example when loading into the VRC Pool Parlor how you're in the black void with the bright logo for a second upon entering.

I'd get iron rebellion if it went on more of a sale and had a singleplayer mode. I dont want lobbies with 3 players, 2 of which are 1000h experts.

Finally finished it. The final sword is also a staff and seems to hold its magic for infinite uses. Pretty over powered but I guess that's better than being under powered for the final reward of the game. That said the best dungeon run I had was using only an oar I found when I entered and no magic. Basically zero damage or stagger per swing so I had to keep up with parries and take whatever opportunities I had to get leg sweeps and bonks on downed enemies in. Little bit longer until I've maxed out every skill as well.

Exfil Zone, Pavlov Shack and VAIL are probably most popular. Forefront doesn't really do realistic reloads, the manual action is there but it's heavily assisted by some snap-in hitboxes. VAIL also doesn't do real ammo belt, you have infinite mag pouch. Note that Pavlov Shack is mostly modded servers which might fuck with weapons and Exfulzone is late into wipe now so you'll be running into juiced terminators.

Exfil has decent numbers, Tabor is more popular but you will find raid in minute or two most of the day in either. Both are late into wipe now so player numbers will be down. Either is soloable but on some maps soloing will be painful experience. In exfil you have scav runs at least for free solo runs.

playing alone isn't impossible. It's shit for the tasks where you have to kill a boss and stuff, and obviously lots of people are roaming around in squads of 2-3 but you can usually just hide from them.
