Nothing, that's the problem.
Didn't launch with enough content or variety to keep it interesting for much more than a single run through, and updates didn't really add anything significantor fix a lot of the bugs as of last time I'd tried it.
I'd still recommend it when it's cheap to anyone that has people to play it with, but it's not something that'll really last you a long time and it's been four years since release.

It'll be easiest to refresh it if there are anons who are willing to help out with the map making. I've developed the systems to be as transplantable prefabs as possible onto any new map makeup.
As you may know some of our biggest secret santa map maker canadian D and american G has made a lot of great visuals for map over the years and both are possibly quite out of juice. They've made super great maps but one can only stay in the college phase of creation and they may have wanted to move on to other things in life or had their fill of making secret santa map visuals.
If you know any anon who'd wish to helpout in creating new christmas visuals do tell and we'll rope him in the creation process. But until then I think there is value in a traditional and homely snowy christmas town we can build upon and improve year by year and fill it with anon's cards, presents and various doodads made for the event.
Instead of recreating the wheel each time. Let's move on to building the other parts of the car so to speak.

My Quest Pro battery degraded to the point of only lasting an Hour, dropping from 30-ish to 0 in a minute.
I opened the back compartment to get the Battery partID and im legimately surprised how simple that was, merely unscrewing few screws and undoing few clips (there is one taped screw though so your warranty is gone if you still got one)
The problem is finding a replacement - Cameron Sino apparently has some replacement for it (345-00677-B). However for some reason all those have 14 pin battery connector whereas the original has 16. Any idea why is that?

People around here have a couple thousand hours in SteamVR on average, go figure. I have 2k hours in non-VRC vidya and I'm not even trying to check everything out, and then VRC is another 2k on top of that. As for whether it'll keep *you* busy, no idea, you have to have a certain fondness for jank and forgive those games a lot, but then you're rewarded with feeling of presence and gameplay freedom like never before.
Quest 3 is cheaper than average decent PC display, you may as well take the risk and see for yourself if you're interested.

Need more vram or hide avatars. In populated instances even 5090 with 9800x3d cant give you good frames. Even if 5090 GPU somewhat manages, the game is too CPU heavy.
But stutters are most likely VRAM starving issue. Gabe cube aint gonna cut it with its 8 gigs of vram. At least 12 bare minimum, 16 recommended minimum, 24 to be safeish.

I think it's pretty healthy to take a few days off. If I have a really good time in VRC I really don't want to try to chase that high a second day in a row and prefer to decompress and reflect in solitude the next day or just get work done. Reduce difficulty and go again, you're almost there. Try to stick to using ARs for now and keep a m9 or glock as your reserve pistol. Try to take out guys at range and aim for the head. Keep some flares on hand or just stick to playing during the day so the niggers can't sneak up on you. Enemies will also be spawned in based on what missions you select so only select one or two for the area at a time to not get overwhelmed. Silencers help too.

You need appropriate loadouts. You use the cheaper stuff on lower tier areas/money runs to build up the money for the higher areas. Basically you should see any store-mission area as entirely unprofitable and you take the best to get the job done.
High-caliber rifle ammo, as piercing as you can afford. Take areas slowly, pick away at the edges and reduce the resistance as best you can from better cover before getting close. When moving in, try and get a sense of how much there is, and clear the place fully before touching anything. Once a place is clear it'll stay clear until the next reset.
Higher level areas in general are unprofitable. Profit runs are basically: Take cheap gear and run through the low resistance anomaly fields. My run was: village (Second area can't remember the name) fields (ignore the multi story building), run from there up to the greenhouse map but take a sharp left and grab the lootbox at the substation then just run out. Then go to factory and clear the quarry (but not the factory itself). This nets like 10k-20k each set and that's enough to build up whatever you want.

I see. I have the footage, i only selected 1 "eliminate monsters in area" mission, 1 recover blackbox mission and 1 find artifact mission. Went in right after a blowout but that should be no reason to spawn such an overwhelming number of enemies.

They open source it and the protocols and the high level description is it uses cryptography to not reveal what site you're verifying at to the ID supplier. I honestly don't understand the magic but the takeway is that: You basically assert a property about your identity (name, age, as much or as little as you want), and then this is turned into a signed token. The service (say VRC) takes this token, and then hands it off to the third party (google or whatever) and verifies that the signature is correct, without knowing the contents of the token and the actual contents of the ID. Google doesn't know the contents of the token either, only that it is valid. So vrc doesn't know anything mroe than what you assert (eg your age) and google doesn't know WHO actually wanted their token verified, s they don't have a record of who is verifying where and with what info. It's smart and if the world is just should become the new standard.

I think lots of people saw the diminishing returns pretty quick. It's fine to fall for the 'potential' when they're running an LLM on a computer that fits inside a single server rack and it can read and parse natural language and answer basic questions and do quite a lot that's previously thought of as hard problems to solve, but when it's scaled up to one million server racks and it's only 4% better, and the cost is only ending everything you cared about and swamping the world in generated garbage, people understandably sour. Gamers especially since the compute requirements overlap. We can't even do cloud gaming because the datacentres would rather be running AI models than AAA slop. VR needs low latency so cloudslop isn't even viable, plus the high resolution and high framerate requirements mean we have the cutting edge of requirements.

I had a similar thought; one of the risk factors with AI was traditionally one taking over and 'turning everything into paperclips' - IE it takes the instructions it was given and min-maxes them to a super-human degree. It's asked to make 100 paperclips, but it calculates that there's always a margin of error when it counted how many it made, so it never stops making them since the margin of error is never zero.
But it's actually humans, chasing the dream of AI, converting their entire planet into computers, chasing the dream of AGI before it's even possible. They convert all of earth's resources into data centres... and it's still just not quite enough...
