I'm quickly finding the combat quite tedious, the weapons are like floaty bubble wands and the blocking works worse than wii swordfighting. The combos anything besides a goblin throw at you in quick succession have a minimal chance of blocking them and it's quite quick to have your health taken down a few pegs, starting on only a few. Along with the non-operational multiplayer this game is a drag and DoA. Questslop with a PCVR port and interesting volumetric shadows I guess.

I went and pushed all the way to second boss. The roguelite is definitely wild pendulum, on first run I was stuck with shit weapons, basic arrows and singular potion because nothing good spawned in the map. Second run I had several enemy camps with good treasure that got me explosive mace and then later electric sword plus explosive arrows and more potions than I could ever need. So first run was me just tediously baiting enemy attacks and running around while on second I just marched straight to the boss with virtually no challenge.

The old Teamspeak, and the more popular Ventrilo as well, had a really strange business model, where end users didn't pay directly. I think the spiral map was fine. Kept people together and was easy to navigate. The whole "But I had to keep asking people what month they were on" could have been fixed by one floating textbox above people's heads saying what year they were on

I think endless spiral (along with the parkour system) + friend TP is the way to go. The stuff's already been built so it should just be a matter of smashing them all together.

This way for subsequent years, only the images would have to get swapped out vs building an entirely new map.

where you have a main hub, and a teleport to start. january is its own section of the map. at the end, theres a teleport to feb, etc etc. you can still keep the spiral if you like.

here's a visualization of the idea.
just keep it simple. instancing sucks. just make each month it's own self contained area, which teleport leads to the next month in the chain.

repeating the same gallery for each isnt an issue, the idea of color coding them isnt bad desu. (though maybe less eye raping color)

Hellsweeper is awesome. All the weapons have unique mechanics to them and there's a ton of synergies with them to do whatever wacky woohoo pizza man shit you want. I almost spend more time in the lobby experimenting with whatever weird loadouts I can come up with than I do actually playing the game.

With bullet time I could chain multiple teleports together easily
