Tried out Wingsuit: Romsdalen
A fun wingsuit sim/arcade using motion controls. Perfect sort of gimmicky game you'd expect to see when the quest first launched.The execution is tight with controls feeling comfortable and natural, with tutorials for basic flying and performing tricks (still trying to improve on the later). The visuals are pretty simple "realistic" as you'd expect from other sims though the audio is quite good, you can hear the sound of the wind rushing past and change as you fly near objects and the ground. The feedback in the controllers are subtle (on the quest) to help get a sense of how much wind is catching on each side of your suit. The main appeal of the game is the score attack with optional courses to follow and more structured "missions" such as the tutorial or maintain a flying formation with NPCs. It was fun for a short half hour session and seems to be perfect for short bursts every now and then to change up what you're playing (similar to bashing out a bit of Wii Sports). There's multiplayer as well that I haven't tested so if people are up for playing a bit on a quiet evening that'd be grand.

Controls are simple, and it makes use of some vr gimmicks like not pressing too hard on the tofu or you'll split it and trying to dodge attacks from your cousin when he steals food. Most simple VR game experiences like fishing should just be integrated into VRC anyway. Easier to host, can be your own custom avatar, and the creator doesn't need to worry about server costs.
It's only if your game is too complex to run well in VRC that it should be standalone, especially these days with VRC propping up the entire PCVR hardware market on its back.

I find the deagle underwhelming in pistol rounds where every headshot is a kill. The high capacity pistols with low recoil that can spam at the head tend to do better, since even if you hit chest the increased fire rate keeps DPS high

It's easy to get past so long as you take breaks and come back later. I remember my first VR experience, I got sick as a dog in like 3 minutes and was like oh fuck did I waste my money. I've got a strategy to get more people involved into Mahjong:

Same rules as normal Japanese riichi.
Uma/oka are applied at the end of the match. The resulting point bonuses and penalties are treated exactly like regular points for size changes.

Size conversion rule:
Every 1,000 points gained = grow 1 cm.

+30/+10/-10/-30 uma, each point translating to 1cm.

A 200kb image is less of a troublesome thing to figure out than a complex 100mb+ structure. This means that if out of the box the headset is not comfortable for your head, then you are out of luck, you can't easily wash it; battery requires you to daisy chain it with another external one which is pain for long sessions.

Besides that, hardware looks fantastic for screen, controllers, and it has steam link + vd with foveated encoding. Software actually looks pretty cool from what I've been seeing, although too focused on media consumption.

Just tried the Alliance Tales: Battle for the Frontier Demo.

VERY decent space dogfighting game. Similar mechanics as in Star Wars Squadrons, but with some original donut steel glorp characters.
It has physical hotas controlls AND very well implemented, almost on VTOL VR level VR controlls.

It's got classic throttle and stick movement + right thumbstick is your strafing, got drifting mode, energy management (engine, guns, shields directions) - have knobs you physically need to drag on the cockpit to adjust power.

Demo ship has laser/missile and missile countermeasures. Runs great, sounds great, plays quite fun and has some basic "peacekeeping glorps fighting pirates and some cosmic horrors" story. Enjoyable.

AAAAND, I just realized it's their second game. There is Alliance Peacefighter released in 2025 which looks very similar. Well, another game for the backlog.

Played a little of the Isle of Food demo.
No overarching story/missions yet but the core gameplay elements are in, mainly the kitchen side and the island exploration/gathering side. There's no fail state yet and you're given a lot of money to start to get tools and seeds and the like. Orders are pretty simple if you've played something like Kitchen Simulator in so far as the recipe book will tell you exactly what to do, but it's not a sim so the chopping and cooking doesn't have to be too precise. Not everything is implemented yet so there's only an oven and grill to use but more is on the way. There's a degree of restaurant customisation too like paintwork, decorations and furniture which can have effects to attract different types of customers. The farming and gathering system is pretty generous with plenty of spawns on the map and quick re-growth time for your veggies. Overall the aesthetic is simplistic and it's a very relaxing island vibe. Will be interesting to see what else is added.

Yes, that's what gesture toggle does, at least on Index controllers. You won't do any gesture-activated face expressions anymore, but still be able to move your fingers and stuff.

Idk if it's the same on other controllers, in which case you may need something built in to each avatar specifically in unity for turning on/off facial gestures while allowing your hands to still do gestures.

Played the physics puzzle game Enigmo.
Mainly manipulating lasers, water droplets and plasma balls in 3D space using a variety of bounce pads, reflectors and gravity spheres. Big selling point is resizing and moving the puzzle around your space, with pass through for quest versions not seen on Steam. Hopefully pass through becomes more easily accessible through SteamVR when the frame releases however the game booted through OpenXR/VDXR and didn't have pass through. The puzzling was fun and relaxing, reminds me of the flash game Electric Box where you had to string together different components to complete a circuit. The demo is a little broken in so far as it's advertised as only letting you play 15 puzzle but you can complete a puzzle, click next puzzle, and continue playing. Will buy on release if it's under £10. Don't want to show off too much in the video as it is a puzzle game. As a bonus, using the menu button toggles between two different visuals for the puzzle components, a more minimalist bold colour approach and a metal/steampunky kinda look.

Wouldn't someone with VRCX be able to collect this data without me having the tool myself? There's not really anything I can do to mitigate what other's will do if they're so intent on hurting me besides attempting to distance myself from them. Hello, today at 19:00CET (1h30 from now) I will host a "YosaVR" dancing session.

"YosaVR" is the combination of "Yosakoi" and VR. Yosakoi is a (modern) japanese folk dance style, which often relies on using accessories.
With "YosaVR", we aim to actively learn dance routines; first we'll learn some actual yosakoi routines, but I'm planning to eventually mix it with other types of dances/songs later on.

Even if some infos might be outdated now, if you are interested in the project I recommend you to read it still.
This time I'll try to also host it regularly on Thursdays while keeping the "dojo format". In my opinion it is much harder than both PyPy or ParaPara, so if you want to become good at it, you will most likely need to train outside of the regular Thursday instances.

First we will do 2-3 runs of "Power" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tpwyBEhPeE); then the main objective of the session will be to learn the moves of "Ai Nippon" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y95r44bQTeM), which is a bit more beginner friendly in my opinion. I might do training on Yamato Damashi after the session.
Please note that dancing is an intense physical activity, so there will be a bit of warmup/stretching before we start, if you join late I strongly advise you take a few minutes warming up before starting to dance.
