Tried out the Birdseed VR demo.
Comfy cartoonish look where you take 12 photos a day of various birds. Aesthetics are pleasing and sound design is good. Playing with an open window mixed the in game sounds of the birds, waterfall and nature with the outside noises of the birds, wind and nature (especially with the lovely cooing of wood pigeons). A very simple game and one that wants you to come back to it daily, with limited pictures so it doesn't overstay it's welcome. Upgrade kit and equipment through completing in game daily challenges for currency to use in the in game store. Whatever 10-20 minutes you spend with the game is very relaxing and fun, something I'm looking forward to add to my daily repertoire when it releases. Waiting to see how long it'll take for someone to port it to a VRChat map. They plan to add more features like multiplayer in the future so may become another comfortable sitting about game like with RealVRFishing.

If you use shadows make sure your face has flattened normals. Most modern booths do this already. It is better to have light reactivity than just having a flat shaded, min-brightness, non-reactive shader. World creators do suck ass at doing lighting (especially the japs) but if you don't allow your materials to react to the world lighting you just look like you have been photoshopped in.

Best balance most of the time is subtle blurred shadows, not hard shadows but also not fully 3d looking, don't make them very dark and make them skin-toned, or tinted whatever the general color is of the mesh they are on. Working on my improved Quakespasm VR fork. I fixed some of the issues that stopped multiplayer from working properly with VR clients. Also I added a weapon wheel so dealing with 8+ different weapons will hopefully be less painful.

Gonna admit I don't like Contractors. Everything is such low quality and the gameplay of almost all mods is just a random loop of dying instantly from all directions.

You can almost always infer where the enemies are and where they will spawn next, especially in something like Domination. You shouldn't be dying instantly from all directions unless you're purposefully walking into death.

Quality-wise, the base game guns and the MW2 mods are very well put together, and being able to use maps from virtually every FPS means the average quality is quite high. Sure, the Star Wars and Warhammer mods are pretty iffy but we never play those anymore, and the freedom to mix it up to that degree is more than worth it in my opinion. Compare this to Pavlov where we've played nearly 400 consecutive rounds of default SND on CSGO maps since the last TDM, FFA or TTT. Even if our highly curated list of Pavlov mods have a marginally higher quality than Contractors mods, the baseline quality we get in Contractors is leagues better than the other VR FPS I've tried.

The part that bothers me about contractors is the chest rig and colliders. It spawns in the wrong way until you stick move a bit, and even then it's really easy to grab the wrong thing. That plus the awkward IK poses for everything makes it feel way more jank than pavlov.

Weirdly I actually don't mind the exfil zone rig by the same devs. It's probably a combination of exfil zone being much slower, and them not backporting any improvements to regular contractors.

I don't think it can be objectively translated into VR in a way anyone will agree on. How do you balance the AWP? It kills in a single hit in CS, but that's offset by the delay in using the scope and the 0% accuracy if you hipfire or move. On the flip side you have VR limitation like aiming through a 20 degree magnified render of the scene being inherently more difficult than using a mouse and a perfect "scope" overlay on the screen so even if you port the flat game mechanics exactly, you end up with a weapon that doesn't have the same strengths and weaknesses. Counter Strike is probably one of the hardest games to faithfully port to VR because it so heavily designed around the original hardware. I don't think anyone could ever agree on how any of it should work.

Oh yeah, pulling pins and grenade throwing acceleration is also awful. Though I know some of that is just a bunch of muscle memory for pavlov's throwing, honed over the years. I love grenades though so it's disappointing. The fact the flashbang also blinds the respawn menu is funny though.

Just played the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles VR game demo. It's pretty neat. Pretty well made beatemup with good movement mechanics, climbing, parrying blicking and good old wacking of the footninjas. The only gripe I have is that for some reason I could see the face mask/bandana.

Also KICK button, is as good as dukes mighty foot.
