in case it wasn't obvious by the replies, quest OS software is getting so buggy and laggy that it's becoming a hassle even just to start up your headset and get virtual desktop up and running without having lagging menus, or layered OS menus on top of other layered OS menus that get bugged and won't close. or constantly having the low hum melody that plays when you start up an app never go away and continue to play even after you're in to virtual desktop.

im also personally getting an issue where I have to start up virtual desktop twice now after I start my headset because the first time it will always tell me my quest credentials are invalid. then it closes itself, i relaunch it, and no issues.

so yeah i used to agree with you that who cares if the OS software is bad if you just only use virtual desktop, but it's becoming so unbelievably bad to the point it's affecting reliably getting into virtual desktop without issues.

Dream Air SE is the only one I'm half tempted by, but I'm not sure.

I think it depends what kind of socially retarded you are. If you learned to adapt to social situations by observing subtle cues it can be difficult in VR because many of those aren't tracked. Even eye/face tracking doesn't have the level of detail to convey common non or semi-verbal responses you'd see IRL. The less of those you need to cope the easier it can be to get used to VRChat.

It's like that autism test where they ask you to label exaggerated facial expressions. For low functioning 'tists that can be a difficult task while others seemingly higher functioning may immediately recognize what the images are supposed to convey only to overthink the answers and struggle because they autistically expect a realistic level of nuance to be present.

SteamLink on Frame will be absolutely great with automatic settings. You only need like 300-400 pixel wide sharp region at 10 degrees visual size to have everything absolutely sharp, Rest can be blurry 1000x1000 region and you won't even notice, because:
- fovea region of your eye is absolutely small, less than 10 degrees
- people are almost completely blind outside of fovea
- saccadic blindness last around 150 ms, you are LITTERALLY BLIND when you move your eyes, your brain suppresses processing of blury input
- Valve absolutely tuned the eyetracking and rendering pipeline so you will get a fresh sharp region frame in the saccadic blindness time

As soon as you have stopped moving your eyes, and your brain starts processing new image, the Frame will present you a new view, which will be absolutely sharp in your fovea, predistorted for optics on the PC, and at that small resolution even 100 megabits will be absolutely artefact free.

Frame will be the perfect headset for those who are not blind, who can see and values comfort. It will be an amazing headset. But because on paper it's just an expensive Quest 3, it will not easily gain mass adoption.

honestly with my case my mental health was so wrecked from bad genes and anxiety that without medication i would not function. like i mentioned before in my case anti psychotics help a LOT, it even allowed me to travel abroad again.

so on SMGs: They are okay, definitely a step down from the assault rifles as an automatic weapon. they will work in a pinch if you must play a class that has it
however as a medic you already have access to the assault rifle, so really it's meant to be an option for engineers. however the shotgun's massive damage at close range and usability at mid range is more versatile and impactful than the SMG.

I can see the reasoning behind triangle factory's decision. if the SMGs were buffed in any way, you give the one class suited for the anti-vehicle role a tool that lets them take up the role of the assault class.

- buff the damage, you rip anything up close apart which the devs (and clanfags) deem as a no-no, and taking a niche away from the shotguns
- buff the accuracy, you can reach out and touch the assault classes which is also a no-no

however perhaps a buff that occurs -when- using the SMG is better

- When using an SMG, you can move and shoot with a lessened movement penalty as if you had the assault perk

Most games have the SMG's DPS higher than the assault rifles' but with a lot harder to control recoil and all their DPS coming from the fire rate rather than the damage. Assault rifles are the other way around. Better damage per shot, easier to control, but slower rate of fire makes them lose out to SMGs where every round actually hits. Shotguns and SMGs fill the same niche being close quarters weapons but shotguns have a lot lower rate of fire making each missed shot a much bigger problem. If medic is going to have access to assault rifles then the LMGs (that only assault can get) should be buffed to make them worth taking over an assault rifle. The basic guide to weapon balance is this:

LMG = assault rifle but with way more ammo, worse recoil control, and longer reload times so it can't really be used offensively. Ability to mount on cover for really good recoil control at the cost of mobility.
>long range
Sniper rifle = bolt action only so not only is fire rate slow but a manual action messes up your aim a little bit between shots making each shot worth taking the time for. Pours everything into its high damage, access to scopes, stability etc at the cost of everything else.
DMR = semi auto, small mags, high damage, bullets travel fast and straight. Sacrifices damage for fire rate but only a little bit making it easier to hit followup shots. Small mags and high recoil make it hard to use effectively at mid ranges where assault rifles excel.

The main problem with these broad categories is that you have to build that amorphous "effective range" around the typical engagement ranges in the maps. Can't really do that without thousands of games playing out and watching where the fighting happens and getting heat maps of kills/deaths. Once you start adding in variations within those categories of weapons you also start getting ones that are just minmaxed for their niche or some overlap into other categories or risk every weapon (within the category) being the same.

Even then your beginner assault can get enough good attachments on the M4 to get the laser pointer for tunnels as well. There's a couple of nip worlds with prefabs for TTRPGs, mostly DnD, fairly certain. I've seen them advertised at Vket, though you'd have to go searching for them to see if they work well and what they actually do.

Online games are much more easily played using foundry or roll20 (yuck) and it's kinda hard to play properly using vrchat. Someone clever could probably find a way to use vrc and foundry in tandem.

It'd have to be read-only or have a user put in stuff outside of VRC.

Essentially there's two things
1) Decorating a room
2) Shilling during the event (optional)
You can decorate as little or as much as you like. And I have a bunch of unity ready and vrc upload ready templates ready to go for easy modification
