I was a proud wigig user right up until my neck gaveout for how much I was using it. Now I can't put more than a bigmeme on my head or i get neck pains. There were other subtle issues with wigig. Even with the massive bandwidth, during high freq scenes, the compression was still very visable. It was still some form of video compression, which hurt its black level performance a little. (RIP amoled advantage). During fast movements/rotation it would actually dip the bitrate(i think) so during redirects on redirected walking the compression artifacts would increase despite the scene not changing. It would often take 1 or 2 restarts of my system to connect, the 12 inche wireless cable was actually fragile asf so I had to replace it every 12 months. Constant disconnects otherwise. Had to hard reset if a disconnect happened especially for vrchat. Oh and did i mention the weight? currently wait fagging for the meme frame so i can be wireless once again(cable cucking has made me lazy). As good as wigig was for me, its really out of date now.

Steam/Meta Link don't have this problem so I agree, he must have done something wrong. However, VD has got the lowest latency as far as I can tell (when it works). I measure it with rapid flicks of my wheel: when on VD (eth. adapter) the virtual wheel follows the real one closely than wired (eth adapter) Steam/Link. So I'd like it to work.

the beta for VD has a "fix" but it doesn't seem great.
the default "fix" is to change codecs, or long-press your left menu button/double tap to "alt-tab" once every time it happens.
swapping between desktop and VR will fix the issue most of the time.

PICO 4 PRO/ENTERPRISE BABBYYYYYY. They even rooted it and unblocked bootloader. There is an addon which gives direct access to tracking cameras, if the Chinese facetracking model doesn't work on your face and you want to use babalonia or train your own.

Also PSVR2 was jailbreaked too and access to internals, better stramvr (even on linux) drivers exist, with access to haptic motors, eyetracking and raw eyetracking camera feeds. The only downside is the non replaceable cable.

basically every wireless PCVR streaming client already bakes in static foveation to some degree because its essentially free
the frame is still underpowered, but at least its still the same low res LCD people are used to for ~6 years now
XR2 Gen 2 is surprisingly not that bad at decoding most of the view for a 2k per eye HMD with static foveation
fast eyetracking wasn't enough to make the weaker Pico 4 Pro's chip have magically low latency with aggressive foveation since the bottleneck of the decoding remained the main wall there
Quest Pro's eyetracking is too slow to use aggressive foveation without it being noticeable
I've tested this to exhaustion with hardware that exceeds the Frame's so I find it hilarious to expect some magical fix that only it somehow has
foveation is nothing new; sure you can crank it up to 80% or whatever with nice fast eyetracking but that's moreso a useful thing to have when you're also doubling the total panel resolution per eye

Nobody is ever gonna buy Frame. Frame SUCKS. Its outdated, its got low resolution, shit LCD screens, bad controller tracking. The addon port is not gonna be utilized, just like Index Snickers bar holding space/usb. Furries will make "Frame face tracking" but its gonna suck so much ass nobody is gonna use it. The eyetracking cameras will be locked behind some sorts of hardware lock qualcomm forced Valve to do, so only gaze information reached linux. The steamVR OS is gonna be perpetually broken and under baked, its gonna be unque snowflake os nobody supports and no game will just work properly. Streaming will be bug ridden. The double per ear audio is gonna vibrate your cheeks and will sound like ass. Microphone might sound ok, but will be ruined by some pulseaudio issue.

It is actively, agressively, anti hotas. VR controllers are mapped to plane controlls extremely well, and you need to interact with cockpit buttons and knobs a lot, so using hotas would be QUITE annoying

Also allmost all planes have 2 joystick modes, one which reacts to grabbed controller position, and one which reacts to tilt (sidestick). The sidestick is imho superior and lets you to rest the controller on your lap. Its all accessible in in game vehicle mfds, and you can adjust stick/throttle/seat positions, which might be needed.
