Some categories should be weight in more than others. Being 100 faces over the upper limit is not as bad as having several 4k textures for a hair pin.
Thrys avatar evaluator does a pretty good job of calculating what your avatar will "use" in terms of VRAM. But for some rreason vrc will not use a case by case calculation system (during upload) instead of the (to me) bad approach they are doing now.

Been trying to be more social without drinking and failing miserably. Was too quiet at some matches and probably came off as uninterested, then overcompensated at others by oversharing and asking dumb pointless questions just to fill the space. So far I managed to move everything I did in blender (deleting faces, bones, mergin armatures, combining materials) to unity.
The only thing I haven't figured out yet, but I still think it prolly exists, is unwrapping UVs to get everything down to maybe 1 material.
But seeing that my problem is never materials or textures and always polycount, I don't feel the need to do this.
So pointless, nah. I just really dislike a destructive workflow because it means I need to constantly go back to a certain point in time, should I discover a mistake or bug, and then repeat all the steps until I get the final output, only too see another bug and repeat the process.
With a non-destructive workflow, I can fix stuff anywhere in the chain and don't need to worry about repeating unnecessary steps again and agian.
