They are not perfect, like Vive trackers, or hopefully Fluxpose will be, but it's like 90% there. Most poses, interactions, even weird ones work. 2 trackers are a bit meh, adding hip is very good, and 5 (adding knees) is extremely good.

The biggest advantage over all other IMU tracking systems is the IR leds on the trackers allow it to be 6DoF tracked when it's in the view of the headset tracking cameras. So they automatically correct any drift when you even just glance down.

But be warned, in the end it's not truelly 6DoF tracked system like Vive or Fluxpose, it has some prediction leeway and small inacuracies.

And a warning for foorfags, no, you cannot have articulated feet, the trackers goes on the ankles, the system only works with it on the ankles.

It's not completely remote surgery. The console the surgeon sits on is connected via CAT6 ethernet cable to robotic console (middle robot device) and the vision tower (right most device). I feel like anyone passing on the frame because of price/value has an unspoken assumption that prices are going to return to normal, the quest 4 is going to happen, meta will retain the subsidization model, and quest 4 will be a generational leap over the frame even though no one can point to any display stack tech that's in a similar price category or even just above it. On stage Zuck said they aren't doing new quest headsets unless there is technological advancement, do not be surprised that he was telling the truth 1-2 years from now.

Envisioning an actual improvement that you could rightfully call a quest 4 right now would be to take the meta VR glasses, switch to goggles and use bigger lenses to get BSB fov in exchange for lower PPD, then add controllers. The napkin math is at least $1500 even after all the AI data harvesting. Reminder this is barely a resolution bump over the quest 3 and the price has basically tripled for oled blacks, eye tracking, modern SOC and good ergonomics. Are people squawking at $1100 for the frame suddenly going to buy that?

Meta is also known for no premium audio options. Maybe you can get good black levels but will you have sound stage and bass? The real competition to this hypothetical headset is frame + boulder headstrap with its index speakers.

It's not just the cost and value question, you also to have wait for 2028 most likely. I've also learned waitfags get shot and pushed in a mass grave these days, consumer electronics prices may be even worse or some new crisis could emerge.

The reward for being wrong is being stuck with a heavy quest 3 with no eyetracking that can't use foveated rendering, you lack buttons to make VR mods enjoyable and hassle free, then your stick drifts. Tech review bros are just completely oblivious to the impending circumstances for VR gaming and realistic engineering.

Sure, but part of the reason that was a meme was because it sat right next to the cheaper 360 and the way cheaper Wii while largely being used to play multiplats that didn't look substantially different then the 360 version. There is no real competition for Meta to make themselves look overpriced against, as well demonstrated by the shitshow that was the Frame.

I also think the PSVR2 was just a failed product on the basis that it's an uncomfortable middleground between a standalone headset and PCVR, needing an expensive piece of hardware in the PS5 but not having the ability to buy, play, and run whatever you want like a PC enables. Sony didn't throw enough money at making exclusives, so there's only like one or two worthwhile games on it that aren't already accessible to someone on a standalone Quest, and it also can't run the killer app of VR in VRChat, whether you like it or not. Beyond /vrg/ instances I rarely get on, there hasn't been anything "notable" really since Alyx and that was 6 years ago now. Lot of studios have more incentive to just develop for flat gaming only since VR isn't as profitable due to a smaller pool of potential customers, hopefully we least get more passion VR mod projects for various games I might least try the Halo one.
