So I have this model I'm trying to decimate because it's way over the limit. The thing is, it has a feature I'd like to preserve, and that's the ability to press the buttons on his outfit. The keyframes are mapped all over the body, though, so I'm not sure what to do. I've used the sliders on the other body parts, and they don't affect the buttons except for the keyframes on the buttons themselves, so I'm a little confused.

Can't say I've had any issues getting various models to work for me. That said I'm slim and of average height so it might be different for other people but at most I've had to adjust the hip root a tiny bit to fix it from spazzing out, which is an easy drag and drop in the right place. I've been able to fix some of the DA kit bash monsters using waist cancel bones. Basically you extrude a small bone pointing up from the upper legs and reparent the upper legs to it. It fixes quite a few issues surprisingly.

It's the only consistently positive "trick" I've learned. Another is that sometimes flipping the hips on top of adding waist cancels helps.

(Think adding a logo to models t shirt) I see that unwrapping the mesh and using the uv editor works for things like a cube, but it gets so much more complicated when I unwrap something on an mmd. (Somebody mentioned modifying my materials but I don't know what they meant by this) This seems like it should be a simple process. Also how does one leave one part of the mesh separate without leaving everything uncombined? I want to apply a shader to my hair in unity (I've seen people with a starry night in their hair, something like this) I'm starting to hate blender

Being able to mix expressions is a decidedly good thing, provided you create them with that in mind.
Example, my fingergun is set to blush and lower my eyes slightly, lower lip corners and part then slightly. I also move my tongue to the very edge of visibility, doesn't affect the blush animation on its own but combined with any other animation with tongue also set to the edge of visibility, I'm now extending my tongue lewdly. By holding this gesture to my side or behind my back I can now add a blush to any other animation. My kiss animation is a cute, smiling pecking kiss, but combined with the eye change and mouth changes of blush, it becomes a lewd open-mouthed French kiss.
Experiment and come up with your own unique combinations, it's really rewarding as I've been told by tons of people that my character feels very realistic and dynamic.

Here's my first test of the Shiki avatar in VRChat. There's a few more steps you should go through after Mixamo and before starting Tupper's tutorial. Basically, just bring the model into Blender and run CATS' "Fix Model" on it. Then export as .fbx again and you're good.
Of course, Mixamo isn't perfect, judging from my arms. I need to go back in and edit the bones so that they actually match up better. However, for now, it's a better result than I thought I'd get!

It doesn't adjust the mesh when you drag the bones. You have to do it in Blender. Make sure you have the Armature selected (it should turn orange), and then go into Edit Mode. It'll turn black. Then Shift+Right Click on the joint between bones you want to move, and use the three arrows with Left Click to move them to where they ought to be.
