I’ve seen videos of VRChat and while it looks entertaining it doesn’t seem like the kind of thing I’d bother with. Robo Recall looks kinda cool and it’s a free download for me so I’ll definitely give that a try. Onward looks really cool but I’m always iffy about early access, is it really worth getting at this point? I Expect You To Die looks like a lot of fun and it’s on sale right now so I can probably justify getting that even if it’s short. Is Sprint Vector multiplayer only? I’m probably going to focus more on solo experiences for now but I’ll keep it in mind if I’m gonna branch out into multiplayer.

What should I do? Make a permanently floating particle emitter on the lens itself that just holds a single particle with duration 1s/emit 1 every second in the distance at low opacity to allow vision, or edit something with the shader itself?

More and more I'm starting to agree with that twitter image that woops made about trying to explain VRchat to people. I tried to convince a buddy of mine that I play games with to try it out and quickly realized that I sounded like a babbling crazy person. If you leave out all the things that actually makes VRchat compelling it sounds bland and just a novelty. If you really try to explain all the social shit and crazy experiences and immersion you end up sounding like a second life lunatic.

As much as I wish I could quickly grow vrchat by bringing people in it seems almost imposssible for someone to really understand the kind of fun that can be had with it without that element of self discovery and experiencing things blind.

Some observations:
This general has grown quite a bit in the past month. Meetup turn out has nearly doubled and new people are showing up every day.
This means more friends are being made and more headpats are being dished out, which is great.
This also means more frames are lost however and large meetups are becoming harder and harder to stay in for the average person. As we saw earlier this weekend, multiple concurrent groups at peak hours is inevitable. A large group initially forms but eventually and naturally individuals with fps issues end up splintering off into smaller groups, or in the worst case they just end up leaving altogether.
The goal is to have fun and make friends so how can we handle these situations better? I saw a few anons constantly hopping between worlds trying to find one that was actually habitable.
