I honestly got a little emotional when everyone gathered around her. Like watching a butterfly emerge from a cocoon. don't laugh

Had a strange dream that gave me a strange VR idea.
I dreamt I was playing some shooting game, with lasers and the players were CDs. It was much more fast-paced than other VR shooters I've seen, with a lot of going around really fast and trying to get in front of someone because you could only damage their front side.
ANYWAY, when I woke up I started to think of Tribes Ascend because the game kinda felt like that. The biggest downfall of Tribes in my view is that the gunplay was ass and didn't feel good enough used along with the ski mechanic. It seems like it could be done much better in VR, with freedom to shoot at any forward angle while keeping your the direction of your ski routes smooth. There's also the immersion aspect of the high-speed in VR which is a nice potential perk, obvious downside being motion sickness which could turn off a lot of players.
What do you guys think? Could Tribes Ascend do well in a universe where it came out for VR? Would it be fun?

Because it's trying to simulate all the actions a person could take, roughly. It's actually a lot fucking easier to do in VR than outside of it which I find kind of ironic in a way. The game is simpler to make when using more 'complex' playing methods of VR instead of mouse and keyboard

Ended up buying Onward on the Oculus store for the $10 sale cause it's $25 on steam. Have a Vive, and running it through Revive Dashboard and it works for the most part. Running sometimes may bring up the exit lobby button.

I'd put money on at least a handful of people in the meetups, anon or not, are running completely untouched materials and/or multiple meshes. Alot of randoms have no idea about atlasing or shit like that.

And what's more is we can look at the worlds. I run alot better in blood gulch, madotsuki's room, cupboard, and moon base than a packed out gaia night or void club.

You're never going to fit 30 people in a single map and expect it not to run like shit. Optimize them all to the T and maybe you can squeeze a few extra before it goes to shit. Oh and poly limit doesn't matter below 1 mesh, at all.

Pretty much necessary for the larger area. It will still track in the white area but it won't be so good. Even in the small area, 3 sensors will be notably better.

Some of my gripes with Onward so far is some of the guns like the M14 and I think AUG or scar are a bit of a pain to reload on Touch because whenever I tried to take the magazine out it'd put my left hand on the grip instead. Earlier when I had the M14 I was spending like a solid 30 seconds just trying to frantically reload and I couldn't do it so I had to yolo it with a pistol. I hate how low quality some of the gun's iron sights so and the screen door effect certainly doesn't help much either. I'll probably get used to these things considering I barely played for a hour or two though.

You're doing it wrong. When you load a position you always start approximately inside the head. It should only need minor adjustments. If you move after loading a scene, you put yourself back to the default PoV by resetting the view in the steam/oculus overlay.

Any idea what's causing these cubes to render weirdly? They're a Mesh particle using the standard Cube mesh, shader is Mobile/Particles/Alpha Blended (for some reason Standard Fade/Transparent shaders won't fade out properly). When the Alpha goes lower than around 200 they render just fine (top left), but anything above that and the front faces seem to just turn invisible (top center, top right).

For those of you that have mastered blender-fu how much time am I looking at if I want to add a made from scratch jacket, model it, texture it, etc... add it to a pre-rigged and ready to go MMD model, and get it into VRChat? I don't think you'd have two different versions of the gun, at least the way I think about it. The ammo should be a separate mesh within the gun that gets hidden upon the other override's activation.

Yeah, so they if they were different meshes, you could activate the game object as a whole, then deactivate the ammo separately, while activating another ammo in your other hand.
That way there aren't conflicting values between the overrides.

I have a problem with Blender, i weight painted a cape, added cloth physics to it but the cape looks like wings and refuses to be effected by gravity, the cape is on its own group in armatures separate from the main body (for now ill join my meshes i know), how do i make the cape droop like it's supposed to?

Is the ammo box technically a magazine? I'm not sure.
Anyway the AKM is fiddly in general. I think it's easier to hold the mag release and grab one side of the ammo box to pull it out.
It doesn't help that you can never be sure that your Vive touchpad isn't just being unresponsive.
