I don't know if I fully understand the situation but I think you should have it so when the button is pressed you cannot interact with it at all for another few seconds. This would prevent people from spamming the button and building up a queue of identical things that need to happen, causing lag.

I expected speaking to unlock the next layer of relationship with those I knew, but it actually caused distance because we were now interacting on unfamiliar terms and my social skills aren't great enough to carry it. For some reason my avatars aren't importing. I uninstalled and reinstalled Unity completed, still same error. When I click "build & publish" it hangs for a while, then nothing happens. Started on manua atlasing yesterday by following Tupper's video guide on it, and it's a lot easier than it sounds when you actually get around to it. I have a problem however.

When using the CATS plugin auto-atlasing tool, I end up with the top looking okay-ish compared to the original texture. But when I bake the texture using the manual atlasing method, I end up with these weird lines going across the top (and other pieces of clothing not shown). All the pieces of clothing are in various shades of black.

What is the CATS plugin doing that is different to not end up like what's happening when I manual atlas?

I baked it in Texture mode, but I have tried re-baking it with all the different bake modes. In the bake modes where texture colours show up (Full Render and Displacement from what I can see), the same thing shows up.

This is using the full list of materials as well - when it came out like that the first time, I thought I combined some materials that looked really similar but had different settings enough to be different, so I manual atlas'd it with all materials seperate (48 materials worth). The pic I posted is the result - the same result as my first manual atlas texture bake.

After frustrating me to no end yesterday, I finally found the solution to the issue. One of the earlier posts about texture files made me think of looking at each material's texture files - especially since my model is a MMD model, so they tend to have multiple textures attached to a single material.

And so, I disabled the extra textures and re-baked them. Lo and behold, it comes out properly because it only needs to reference a single texture, instead of doing what I assume is combining all the textures associated with that material into one and applying it somehow.

While Tuppers' video tutorial is easy to follow and very useful, because he used a very simple avatar, he missed this particular step for those converting models (MMD ones in particular).

To the anon with the pantsu problem, maybe this is your solution as well, if your model comes with materials that has multiple textures attached to each of them.

"do work" can be as little as 5 minutes running a mostly-automated script in blender and adding the basic avatar controller in unity. Or months of modeling and rigging the perfect avatar from scratch. It's up to you.

Anyway you can grab an avatar from someone's world in game and it will remember it when you're offline, so you can wear that one almost indefinitely, at least until the original uploader removes it. For characters, a bit too much effort for me because they come in a million pieces and materials and i'm too lazy to deal with that.

Eidolons come in a bunch of pieces too, but you can just select by same material to merge them. Of course they don't come with armatures too, so gotta rig them yourself.

I ripped Ayako using ninja ripper, which meant searching through a few thousand meshes because i could only find a person with ayako in the main town and ninja ripper rips everything.

Theres also an aura kingdom ripper, cant remember the name but its easy enough to google for. Couldnt get it to work with the newer eidolons for some reason, and all the old ones you can find on deviant art anyway. I tried it on the private server files so maybe the official server files would work better.

Most mods work fine. Generally speaking anything that doesn't change combat, lighting, or act as a total overhaul, works out of the box. Many companion mods, fauna mods, and retextures are working.

They've turned off a lot of the physics, so in vanilla your hits and so on would actually move objects, whereas now they don't. To complete the quest where you have to move a corpse you have to force shout it.

The other big issue is that the game isn't roomscale. Although you can move about in the space it just moves the camera, and your body stays stationary - you can just walk behind yourself like this, see your floating sword etc.

The whole game is jank, and whilst it runs better than FO4 VR, it is ostensibly a poorer VR game. I don't even know why you design a character given you can never see it. Before lewd will work we need to have visible PCs.
