Well that depends on the context of your relationship with them. It's not something that you can easily plan for. You should discuss your relationship up to that point, tell them how you feel, maybe ask them how long they've had feelings. If you're already comfortable with the person then all this will be natural. If you're not very well acquainted then make sure it is properly communicated that this is how you see the relationship. I'm about to give up on my new generation headpat development but I want to pass on my research and findings before I do.

First off let me explain the VR headpat theory. VR is an effect caused by the combination of visuals and sound while blocking off external sensors. So the current generation VR headpat that everyone experience is all through visuals. Person A brain perceives and experience headpats through the visuals provided from the VR headset, this is through only 1 of a human's five senses. The headpat theory I came up with is that if I were to put sounds on my headpats then the brain would perceive information from 2 (TWO) of a human's five senses. That is TWICE the amount of headpat information the brain will receive.

In theory I believed it to be a good idea but I have ran into multiple struggles trying to implement this idea.
Problem 1. People have sound effects off or low. I test all my headpats on a 50% scale which I imagine would be the statistical "average."
Problem 2. I think unity ignores binaural sounds and calculates all sound effects on a 3D setting. Basically if I have a binaural sound effect that affects the right ear only, unity would ignore that and would still play it on the left ear if the left ear is within the max distance of the sound effect. Could probably be fixed by tinkering with the unity sound settings.
Problem 3. Can't find a single good headpat sound effect that people can perceive as a headpat. I'm already using mp3 rips from youtube ASMR videos and people are unable to perceive those sounds as headpat sounds. Also ASMR videos have VERY low volume sounds so it makes Problem 1 a lot more difficult.

Final solution or maybe a path divergence is probably just put musical melodies so whenever I give someone a headpat I also give them some chill music. Basically give people some music they associate my headpats to.

I always thought that my tracking was shitty because of the 2 sensor set up, but now I'm beginning to question if they're just straight up broken. I assume in the SteamVR white playspace you should be in the very center where the gray box is right? I am never in that box, I am always way off to the side. Sometimes shit will just start spazzing out and I'll teleport all over the white playspace. The sensors are 7 feet apart and diagonal from each other, they're above my head and angled downwards pointing at my playspace. Are my sensors just fucking trash or am I doing something wrong? I'm getting really tired of all the teleporting around or the worst bullshit is when it tells me my controllers are actually like 10 feet away from me even though I'm holding them in my damn hands.

It doesn't. I'm assuming you have a rift. Have you tried different usb ports for the sensors? Check the oculus launcher to see if any of the sensors are reporting bad tracking performance.

Sometimes the sensors will report poor tracking performance, but not all the time. Right now they aren't, and before I made that post it was fucking up really bad, so I don't know. This is what my set-up looks like. For all intensive purposes my tracking should be excellent, but god it fucks up so much.
I might try different USB ports but I'm kinda doubtful as to whether it'll help.

I had to try different ports. Any other port configuration for me straight up doesn't work. Also unplug any usb devices you aren't using. I only have my mouse, keyboard, and rift +sensors plugged in.

What's the best way to find out what lens distance you should set? I heard Vive comes with a little ruler that helps you figure it out, but Rift obviously didn't come with jack shit.

So I've plugged in some custom animations I made in blender into the avatar controller, but it ends up just not doing anything for roughly a minute.

Gesture overrides (Facial expression tied to the VR controllers and/or F1-F8) need to be set for 1 second or 0:01 in the Unity animation window. Making them longer can give that slow transition effect where it takes a minute or so to go from one to the other.

How important are toes and ankles?
My current avatar is a robot, so I gave them running prosthetics - end result is that while there are still foot bones for tracking, there's no visible deformation below the knee. Will this cause problems?

At most I can see different angles of leg causing your character to either clip into the floor, or float above it if the IK placing the foot bone down might not land the model properly.

Aight update for the weekend.
It was almost impossible just trying to find the chest, body, hands and legs part in the game folders. Tired but worth it.
The head/face part for cm3d is still escaping my search range. So I used anohter face model that kinda fits.

Might just go ahead and use this face model if by next week I am unable to find the cm3d face model.

Major problem with this body model too is that the morphs for the arms, legs and butt escapes me on how to do. Might have to do them manually in blender to give varying body sizes and shapes for the brigade members.
