My playspace keeps moving to a different position. My Rift sensors appear correct relative to reality, while the Vive Base Stations appear correct relative to the virtual playspace. Since the playspace keeps moving, I can't set the alignment correctly on the trackers (which I'm struggling with as it is)

When I turn the tracker on, the position it moves me to is consistent. I don't know why it moves again later. I've tried reinstalling SteamVR and running the Room Setup, but nothing changes anything. Currently reinstalling Oculus software.

That's how I've always run - when I got the Vive and Trackers, I created an alt account and ran through the setup there. I've since uninstalled and reinstalled both SteamVR and Oculus but same issue still, even with no setup on Oculus (it seems to work off the bat, I guess - Oculus Home and Steam VR were both correct in terms of playspace positioning).

I tried launching SteamVR with one tracker turned on and my playspace all fucked - I'm kinda stuck on the floor. I tried fixing the floor with Advanced Settings but I get 'Right Controller tracking problems' when I hit Fix Floor'.

I'm pretty much out of ideas. How the fuck do I fix this.

I can't do the offset because of this room moving shit. I tried going in-game and I was stuck on the floor, which isn't surprising considering I'm on the floor in SteamVR.

My working hypothesis is that the room setup I did with the Vive on my alt Windows account is interfering with the imported Oculus room (if you have a Rift, you don't run Room Setup in Steam - it pulls that shit through from Oculus magically). Artsy says he uses the Oculus setup and has SteamVR set to Standing playspace. I'm trying to DELETE the SteamVR room setup I did, but removing the user account wasn't enough, nor was uninstalling/ reinstalling SteamVR (I switched to my Vive and the boundaries are still there).

I'm kind of in the same boat. I fell for the DK2 meme in 2014, did some neat demos with the leap motion, then sort of drifted out of the space until this year. Currently I'm looking into some of the available IMU breakouts to see if I can /diy/ my way into full body tracking without shelling out for vivepucks or a kinect. The BNO080 looks pretty promising so far. It'll take some hacking with VRInputEmulator work with vrchat, but it should at least be feasible.

But basically, I did a few contract jobs with it, and enjoyed my time working with the JS api stuff. I was also a poor student back then, so my VR development so far has been limited to javascript/webgl (LOL) on a mobile device (DOUBLE LOL)

So basically, from my recent crypto-gains + top-tier tech internship, I'm comfortable to start investing in VR development and doing it the way I usually learn things (Lurk/participate in both communities). In about a week I'll be set up in Seattle with a solo apartment and a top tier rig, I just wanna go full cocoon mode and see what I can do.

What gets me excited about Oculus Go is that its the start of signalling mass adoption for VR devices. I know right now its pretty limited, but I have faith in the smart lads over at google/oculus to improve on it.

Well depending on exactly what kind of VR development you want to get into, you'll probably want to step outside webvr and into the "real" game development world i.e. unity or unreal. That's where most of the development happens AFAICT, even some of the non-game art-related VR stuff. /agdg/ on this board is a decent community. /3/ is also comfy, as is /diy/ if you want to get into VR hardware side. Occasionally a relevant thread will pop on /g/, but it's mostly consumer bullshit.

Once you get your rig set up, you should join the meetups in vrchat. Then we can discuss VRdev, but as cute anime grills.

I think I've FINALLY got it working.

The two bits that were going wrong, besides potential Driver4VR fuckery, were:
>the SteamVR playspace I set up on my alt Windows account
>the fact that the SteamVR playspace MUST be standing only

Deleting the config files removed my roomscale playspace. Then, before adding the standing playspace, turning on the tracker would set the origin point of the playspace to one of my Base Stations (because Room Setup needs to run first - Steam's Playspace takes over when Vive hardware is connected). Setting it to Standing seems to remove any fuckery that occurs between the Oculus roomscale and the SteamVR playspace.

I've asked Artsy to add this to his guide so that others don't fall to the same traps I did. Thanks for your support, I needed to get this sorted tonight. Now to calibrate the offsets for the trackers.

Audio Source range - How the fuck does it work?

The trick to calibration is getting the tracker to move up/down/left/right correctly before anything else with the yaw. The USB port on mine lines up correctly, but someone else's didn't. Once it moves the right way along the axes, you just move it into XYZ position which is simple. Took me a few minutes to get it perfect. Make sure you save the preset.

I got it all lined up, then picked it up and moved around a bit with it, and I noticed that the more I turn to one direction (180 degrees from the original spot), the greater the offset from real life the tracker becomes. Anon, select the collar with "L" and hit Alt-H.

Once the collar is hidden, select everything with "A" and select the vertex group that the collar is assigned to in edit mode and click on remove.

This should remove every stray vertex that shouldn't be attached to the collar. This is my quick method of straight assigning and removing weight to a large group of points.

I don't think there's an explicit limit, but as usual with unofficial APIs, pls no bully or they'll shut it down. Some other dorks made this documentation that's helpful https://vrchatapi.github.io/ The API also gives you profile images and instance images, so you could make a web interface mirroring the in game UI pretty easily. I checked and there are no wildcard CORS headers on the api itself though, so you'll have to proxy your calls through a backend.

what controls being able to add chairs? is it something I can edit?

Full body tracking is fun, but it seems kinda extra janky with Rift and I'm not entirely sure why. Might be a USB bandwidth issue.

It seems that if I wanted to use it, I'd need to go into the OpenVR settings and apply the offset to each tracker each time i wanted to use it. One of the trackers had the wrong offset for a little bit before it decided to be like the other trackers. I also had issues when taking the headset off and putting it back on (SteamVR playspace would sometimes break, requiring a restart of SteamVR - I didn't take the headset off while playing VRChat, but it's pretty safe to assume that this would require restart here too).

I don't like having my viewport messing up constantly, I don't like seeing my neck stump when I sit down sometimes. I use a lot of avatars and FBT doesn't work well on all of them. Eyes stop tracking, which we all know about.

I think the bottom line is that if you have a Vive, it's probably worth a buy, but if you have a RIft, the buy-in is so high and the extra couple steps required just make it not worth it. Unless I somehow change my mind, I'll miss legs, but being able to just stick the headset on and play along with the regular VR issues and be able to switch avatars without worrying about calibration... it's not a huge loss. £900 IS a huge loss though, so I would like to get my money back... I could buy an GTX1170 later in the year and more for that money...

It can't tell, as long as you're lewding in a private world. The API (thankfully) only tells you as much as you'd get in the actual game. I just added a call to get the room population if it's public or friends+.
