Do this after you have most of the weight paints deleted.
Also a good thing to note is that the bones don't actually contain the weight paints but the VERTEX GROUPS does.
You'll have to select the group vertex rather than bones. (Try it out while in weight painting mode; notice how when you select different parts of chest, shoulder, spine will show you which part has which)

You need 2 hats, one on head and one in hand.
By default the hat in hand is hidden.
When you toggle animation you hide the hat on your head and you should the hat on your hand.

Make the hat a separate mesh in blender. In Unity, import the hat again, so now you should have your model with the hat on (but on a separate mesh), as well as another model of your hat. Put the other model of your hat in one of your hands and hide it. Now in an animation override, hide the hat on your head and unhide the hat in your hand. Voila.

did you check the arm for any weight paints?
also if there's doubles or vertices in the inside of the harness it might be difficult to see in weight paint mode. what i'd do so go to edit mode on the mesh, then select the respective shoulder vertex group, click the button to select all vertices that are in that group, then hit ctrl+i to invert your selection, then H to hide everything. what you have left should be the vertices that are weighted in that group. from there you can check to see if anything that shouldnt be weighted is there, and remove them from the vertice group by selecting them and hitting the remove button in the vertice group tab, and then hide them to make it easier to work with the remaining vertices. this is more or less my workflow for rigging stuff, may or may not work for you but i find it easier to work this way.

This is a singular extra draw call though so shapekeys are more optimised but are also a total bitch to position, make and look like trash compared to the instant swap of game object disabling.

There is a third, ascended method that doesn't require any extra draw calls and is instant:
Add both of the hats to your model, one in the hand and one on the head. Make sure they're in separate spots on the texture atlas, then make two versions of the atlas, one where the hand-hat is erased, and one where the head-hat is erased. For the gesture override, swap the material out with the second atlas.

Alright this'll probably be a bit of a long post but I need some help. I tried making my own visemes in blender for the first time, and I guess I screwed something up but I don't know what. Looks fine in Blender and when I pose all the visemes each one looks right. In Unity when I set them to 100 under Blend Shapes under the Body mesh, they all look right. I also made a grin viseme, when I set it 100 just to test it looks perfectly fine too (bottom right picture). However, when I go to put it on an animation override something gets screwed up. All I did was add the blend shape override for the grin, set it to 100 in the animator, and for some reason I get the result on the bottom left.

Thought maybe it was just some weird thing with the animator so I uploaded it in game. Without even doing the grin override or talking at all, my mouth still hangs open (top left picture). I don't have eye tracking or blinking, so pretty sure it's not a shapekey issue with that. Where did it all go wrong?

If you want a solid FPS, play Pavlov. Some people complain it's too bullet spongy.

Early on in VR, Arizona Sunshine was one of first "banner" games for VR. Good graphics, good sound. But it is an early VR game, so at first it was teleport only until they added smooth locomotion.

It's reloading and gun system is okay, but you can tell it was one of the first serious VR games. You drop your mag, then move it to your belt to reload.

Not exactly H3VR, but I do have to give it credit for keeping the difficulty up by balancing varying zombie speeds, damage, and limited ammo. You'll be scrambling around during your first playthrough desperate for an extra mag or shotgun shell with the volume of zombies you're faced against.

Haven't tired the new DLC yet.

The Forest in VR mode is free and in alpha. Good FPS despite the base game being notorious for shtity performance throughout it's development. Some things are missing still. Hacking down trees is ezpz, along with hacking down indigenous peoples. haven't played enough to say anything else, it's basicaly the Forest. In VR.

I have never tried GTA VR. What I can tell you is that there are 2 versions, and from the last time I checked last year, neither do true 3D. There's one that isn't being updated but doesn't require VorpX which is limited in what you can do (You can basically teleport and fire weapons one handed. That's it). The other requires VorpX yet doesn't do true 3D. You can steer, walk, shoot guns one-handed. Whether or not the 3D thing was fixed, I don't know. Personally I'd kill to pop niggas on the street in VR. God knows you'll need a beefy rig for it.

Let's start off with what changes in the VR version make it so good. You can choose different options on how you want your experience to be.

-Height and world scale
-Whether you want pickups to automatically go into your inventory, or if you need to physically pick them up
-How realistic you want your reloads: Do you want to take the magazines out and slam your own in, do you want to load up your own shotgun shells, do you want to pump the shotgun each time you fire automatically or do you want to do it yourself, do you want to be a casual and just reload it automatically?
-Wide variety of weapons
-Multiple difficulty levels, 2 part story, and other side missions with their own difficulty levels
-MULTIPLAYER
-Melee weapons have collision, physics, and the enemies react accordingly based on your force and direction of your blow. You can even rifle butt if you don't have time to grab your knife, axe, sword, machete, chainsaw, or cybersickle.
-Where you move your body in VR actually affects your hitbox. This wasn't a lazy port like Skyrim, where even if you move back in roomscale, your hitbox'd body is still standing in place. Taking cover, especially from opponents that can fire back from a distance, actually helps!
-Randomized loot, weapon upgrades, armor augmentations and psychic skills progression system, although I played through the whole game without using psychic abilities cuz i ain't a mary sue

Don't use cats decimation
in cats separate by materials and go to each chunk of the model that is eating up all the tris, if that model has shape keys you need to remove them (highly suggest you don't do this on the face) then just click chunks of the hair, skirts etc go to modifiers and add a decimation modifier. Collapse and planar work slightly different but I personally start with planar. once you get it to a good setting hit apply at the bottom to make it permanent. once this is done you can continue on normal and even add shape keys to the part after that.

My understandning is that the controllers are always tracked relative to the HMD.

That means relative to the viewpoint/pingpong ball that you set up in unity.

Many avatars have longer than real human necks as well as larger head which puts the view point higher up if you go the suggested way of putting it between the eyes, or longer than human arms.

You can check if this is your problem by standing in t-pose irl, the arms on the avatar will then go upwards a bit instead of reflecting the t-pose you are actually in irl.

If the avatar arms are still bent when you stretch out in irl t-pose then they are too long for your irl body.

The only way ive found to make this better this has been to make the avatars proportions closer to real human and/or to put the view point lower.
