I usually select the entire head, assign it to vertex group named same as the bone in head, that mostly works.

Trying to make a material that's shadeless but still darkens according to light levels. This setup seems to do the trick in Unity but just shows up black ingame.

I'm guessing the 'light color' node (or the coding behind it) needs some setup so vrchat knows what to do with it? Or is there a better method for getting light information?

That said we're still CPU bottle necked before this will be an issue (unless everyone uses retardedly large materials) We can handle approximately 200 materials being pulled, so if we had 20 people with 10 2k materials each, we'd hit the GPU memory bandwidth bottle neck. It's realistically achievable in this game.

To do some math if you had around 13 people with 8k textures on your screen (1 material) you'd start reaching the memory bandwidth limit of even 1080's, as their bandwidth is 320GB per second and VR is supposed to be 90 fps
(put it o 26 people for 45fps)

That's further divided by 90 as that's 90 frames
You could have 80 GB of vram with 320GB per second it doesn't matter when you have over the limit of memory bandwidth, so if people are unironically en masse using 8k and 16k textures, we're getting fucked.

320/90 is about 3.5 so 3.5GB/frame is allowed on screen to be swapped from memory
This means we can handle around 200 2k, as they take up about 16 MB each. textures being swapped from the VRAM to being rendered, and stuff on screen like avatars is always rendering like this so you gotta remember, going form 2k to 4k is a 4x increase not 2. So that means we can only handle 50 4k textures being hotswapped or 12.5 8k textures. about 3 16k textures.
So yes textures DO matter but pretty much only past 2k, 2k and below and we're pretty safe from being bottle necked in vrchat due to memory bandwidth issues.
