There are things you don't see. Yuru uses a voice changer. FCE used to be fully mute. Cat gets quiet if there isn't anyone he knows well in the room. It takes time to figure the group out and find a way to interact that you're comfortable with.

Maybe the version I played was shit or something but I hated it. Everything about it was good until I actually got into a dungeon. I like the hub area and all the preparation stuff. The actual gameplay is just nearly pitch black walking forward, enemies are killed with one or two swings which means you just flail wildly and are immortal, all ranged weapons are useless because of the fucked up aiming, and it's the only game to ever make me feel a tinge of VR sickness.

Been really getting into GORN since VRChat has refused to log in for some reason the last few days, and while I really miss head patting with giant armored hands, none of my friends get on my more anyways, and meetups are lag-fests after 5+ people, I forgot how fun actual games can be in VR. Swatting aside a giant shield with a mace in my left hand, then stabbing a guy in the eye with a rapier and pulling off his head to throw at and stun his friend who just saw it all happen is 10x better than standing around talking and showing off my latest lewds and meme avatars I cooked up in unity.

Anyone love the echo combat beta? There were some glitches like the payload moving without us touching it but holy shit the arena was really well designed and fun. I really hope they ad more weapons though, since there's no reason to use the shotgun (damage falls off to the point of basically nothing beyond like, 7 feet away from you) and the sniper (overheats too much and damage doesn't justify charging it up for just one shot)

Maybe a burst fire inaccurate smg and more than short range shotgun

I think the novelty of VRChat wears off sooner or later for everyone, it's just a matter of when. It's still a lot of fun to come to the meetups every now and then but there's other fun games to spend your time with too, such as Beat Saber. There's been a push for it lately and for good reasons, it's fun, simple, enjoyable and very easy to get lost in for hours until your entire body is sore!

Alternatively there's also BeatSaberTweaks which is a more complete mod and lets you change the volume when the notes are hit. I believe you can use both of these together to both change the sound as well as lower it but I'm not entirely sure as I've never tried them out. I am very very bad when out of my comfort zone. I was very quiet when I started meetups to the point where most thought I was mute. I also have some other issues regarding personal space and being awkward when people are being too affectionate. Oh and stuttering and misspeaking, I am terrible at talking correctly particularly when I'm tired.
I have some social skills because my job requires it so I probably am a little normie, but the only reason I can be outgoing at meetups is because I've been at them long enough to be comfortable. There were a few times early on I almost ghosted.

I took me like a month to open up and be able to interact with people in meetups but I've never ever felt unwelcome, neglected, ignored or any other similar negative feeling. In fact it was quite the opposite, I was often approached with a friendly manner but my autism ass panics and doesn't know how to properly respond to human contact.
Yes most of the time I didn't (and often still don't) actively talk to others throughout the meetup but that's not because others would seem unwilling. My "problem", and I assume this is common with a lot of new people, is that I was just quiet, shy and perceived as uninteresting since no one knew anything about me. Think of it from the perspective of other players, it's often hard to engage with someone you know nothing about and may even seem shy a pulling away.
I think it's the responsibility of new players to give more effort into engaging with the community.

I used to hang out with two quite a lot until recent years, and one was a huge chuuni who'd act like an edge lord in every mmo we'd play together, to the point where he'd get annoyed if you didn't call him by his IGN. Collapse is generally better for deformable stuff like body parts, clothes or hair, since it'll "equally" remove vertices instead of killing the extra edges around joints. If you have a rigid prop like a gun though, planar is good for preserving detail.

The least destructive decimation you can do for softbody is manually removing edge loops, but I also got good results by converting Tris to Quads (for MMD imports) and then using the unsubdivide decimation. I got 50% decimation without noticable loss of detail or deformability this way.

Search for `if (polyCount < 20000)` in the VRC SDK files in your unity project, and change it to 65534. That's the true limit before unity splits your mesh anyway and breaks your shapekeys.

Technically, you can still have over 65534 in a single model, but you'll have to split your mesh manually in blender and keep your shapekeys on one part of your mesh. It's real Beat Seibah hours! If you haven't already done so check out two beatmaps in particular starring songs from the band Pendulum. The first one's called Witchcraft and the second one is Crush. Amazingly well put together, incredibly fun to play and they both leave you wanting more and more and more ehehe. The last one's from S3RL and the layout of the beatmap here is pretty neat and interesting, although kind of very hard. Cute slit eyes! Not those anons, but the animation component can be anywhere on the hierarchy. You just need to make sure each thing you animate in the animation uses the same path/hierarchy. If you go into the animation you can actually see the path and modify it, but you probably don't need to bother if you made your animation while working on a duplicate of your avatar. In that case, you want to put the animation component on top parent of the avatar (so along with the avatar descriptor).

If you don't need the physics and stuff, the openvr advanced settings fork in the OP has a built-in playspace mover that just werks. Hold down a menu button and drag the playspace around.

Splitting your mesh in to <65k chunks in blender does work, as long as you keep your shapekeys in the same chunk, e.g. just the face. Make sure to name the mesh that has your eye bones on it "Body" in unity, or eye tracking will break. I don't know for sure what the performance impact is of my total 124k tris is compared to a single skinned mesh renderer, but I'm pretty sure it's still better than the average ~10 materials, and definitely better than dynamic bones. I'll benchmark it at some point.

For most anime MMD avatars, 65k is more than enough detail, so still decimate if you can. It'll make things less difficult and more performant overall. I'm still trying to get my model there, but haven't found a netter decimation tool yet.

You can also atlas your mesh together and split it, using the same material on each. The UVs will work out.
