I get better fps (20 or more improvement) in VRChat when plugging in a four year old r9 280x with 3gb of vram than when I use a 1060 6gb.

I know VRChat is cpu bottlenecked but what's going on here? Already reinstalled all nvidia drivers and checked if there's any heat problems. No power issues either.

Should be fine, but vrchat is yet another VR game that only uses one thread for most of it's shit, so it's the exact opposite of the type of game that would run well on ryzen. I just upgraded from a i5 3570k oc'd to 4.2ghz to a i7 8700k oc'd to 4.7ghz and the difference in performance is night and day. I can actually go to the meetups in unoptimized worlds with more than 5 people in my LOS. Single thread/core speed is what's going to make the biggest difference when playing a trash-optimized game like vrchat

I think what it would take is established artists in the 3D space who can make your avatar how you would want. A lot of people commission particular artists and the like because they enjoy their particular style.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of any artists that would fit the bill and have the entire process from beginning to end on lock. The modeling, the texture work, the rigging, etc. That's hundreds of dollars, easy. Even in our closest comparison, SecondLife, people rarely commission entirely models. The spooky ESL photo map gave me new found hop for Udon. Which I thought was pretty well done since it was done entirely without Udon. I really liked the inventory system in place of jumping part of it. I honestly wish more maps utilized that. Udon isn't going to fix everything, it's really up to the talent of the mapmaker like the ESL spooky guy who work their magic. More likely than not, we're going to get tons of crappy maps from guys who have no idea what they're doing.

I’ve got a Steam Machine with Windows 10 installed. All I know is it’s an i7 with a custom integrated GPU. (Basically a laptop) I ran that Steam VR tester thing, and all my specs were in the green except for my GPU. What I wanna know is can I buy an external GPU, plug it in to override my current one to run VR? I know this shit sounds too complicated, but I do everything on this computer, and I don’t really wanna sell it. I do however have a secondary PC (actual desktop) and last time I bought a graphics card and tried to upgrade it myself, it was a nightmare.

I feel like you'd have more software issues trying to do that external GPU bullshit. 1 - the quality is going to be poor, because no-one is going to put a lot of work into a free game within VRC

2 - the performance is going to be shit, so the player limit probably won't even be 10, thus we'll struggle to actually play together

I use a R9280x 3gb and these are my specs, it works out well enough so anything above a 1050ti with more than 3gb of vram should work well. My mobo doesnt have a sensor so thats why it looks like its on fire.
