Hey so, I'm new to Virtual Reality, just got myself a CV1 and some touch controllers. I'm liking it so far and would like to do some of this social shit.
However, like many people, I have trouble connecting to others. I don't mean in a technical support way, I mean I can't actually talk to other people because I'm a fucking retard or something.

I just signed up to "Rec Room", which seemed like nice casual fun. Halfway through the tutorial it throws me into a game, with a real person, in a 1 to 1 environment, mics hot.
He waved at me and said "Hi, how are you?" so he obviously wanted a response and I couldn't deal with that and had to take the headset off. Now that guy must think i'm an asshole or something and I'm basically too scared to ever turn the game on again.
What can I do to help me get over this? I assumed the game would allow me to use voice communications if and when I wanted to, not throw me in at the deep end and watch me drown.

Practice. Fortunately that's a lot easier in VR than in person, and you can always just quit the game if it gets to be too much.

VRChat is a good thing to try if you're having issues. Get on with another friend if you have one who is interested enough (they can play on desktop) and try your best to "Get out there."

That is what I did and I currently have a pretty wealthy friend group going! The anxiety can be bad, but it gets better overtime. You might be able to find a group on there (VRChat) that is welcoming!

You could also be a mute if you wanted too and not talk, but some don't find that fun.

You will (unfortunately) have to break out of your shell with online games, though :L

I talk most of the time, but there are days or situations where I prefer not to talk and just listen to others, or give/receive headpats. Unfortunately I don't know, I've never used that method myself. I will say that the last step ("in Unity, reparent the skirt bones to the thigh bone") will most likely help because it'll make the skirt bones themselves move with the leg. Though you may have to play around with the lower part and parent those bones to the lower leg.

Yeah; Keep the leg mesh up to what you can see of course, though. Or all of it, idrc. Weight paint the back of the skirt a little less (just use the subtraction and a small amount of painting to not fuck up and do any accidental painting).
That slit and any part of the skirt behind it should move a little less, so have it weighted at .7-.9 or something. Just test stuff out as you go along.

Even weighted carefully those faces will probably clip through because the inside verts aren't mirrors of the outside verts. Save yourself a headache, delete them and fill the inside the backfaces with cubed shader using the zero-thickness edge trick.
