-Change image size to the pixel resolution the original system was at(I went with SNES), select nearest neighbor filtering.
-Add in all the extra sprites you want if any
-Adjust brightness/contrast and/or levels to bring out more contrast if viable, common game aesthetic to have high contrast between foreground/background
-Select the palette and limit it to the palette/color amount that reflects the system. I never got into palette management but I just change the image mode to indexed color and use that menu.

Nice, you should definitely get the rift if it fits your budget, your computer is fine. The magic VR is really hard to communicate through flat screenshots and videos. If you have a store in your area or a VR arcade or a friend, you should try to get a demo of the headset first, just in case. It's magical, but still expensive, first-gen tech that's not for everyone. The FOV is probably the worst part, it's like looking through binoculars. The SDE isn't so bad to my eyes, but YMMV. Lack of varifocal lenses makes some things hard, but most VR games are good about not putting objects up smaller and closer than your eyes can focus.

You could convince people to open up the browser page and put their browser in OVRDrop/Oculus dash beta, but most are too lazy for all that setup. Better to have a video stream if you can set that up with OBS, I think.

Last time I tried playing a video with the "New Player" in hangout house, I straight up crashed the windows 7 person I was with. It wasn't even a youtube stream either, just an mp4 file. Might be dependent on their drivers, or patches/third party codecs to windows media player though.
