After you get the window open, you will want to go to the bake tab and then to the bake button at the bottom. I think the vive and rift are pretty comparable for comfort, though I've only tried the rift personally. The rift is the slightly lighter HMD overall, and some people say it's better balanced. If you pay an extra $100 for the deluxe audio strap on vive, it's apparently better than default vive for comfort. I don't know about the WMR headsets. If you want current-gen VR though, you should strongly consider rift of vive over anything else, just for all the other reasons (tracking, controllers, game compatibility)

When moving around a lot, I tend to tighten the straps on the rift a bit more to keep the HMD from slipping. But when I'm just lounging around in VRChat I wear it pretty loose to keep it from pressing into my skin. The longest I've worn it is about 6 hours. It doesn't bother my face, but the earphones start to bother my ears, with the slight pressure they have.

You can sometimes fix it in blender by editing the offending shapekey, but it's annoying for sure.

I just cannot figure OpenVR capture out, no matter what I do the recorded area is tiny and has a way smaller FoV than just recording the desktop window would provide, I simply cannot understand what I am doing wrong.

You're using the openvr capture plugin for OBS? I think by default it crops the video back to 16:9 by default. If your computer can handle it, I just use capture the steamvr mirror window with game capture in OBS. You can set the video canvas size to 960x1080 in OBS settings to match. Yeah that's what i'm using and the cropping isn't the issue, the issue is that the FoV isn't wider at all, it is SIGNIFICANTLY narrower than just recording the Gorn window on my desktop and any cropping setting is just resizing that. Almost like it isn't working right.
The SteamVR headset mirror has the exact same problem, viewing either eye at a time or both eyes at once, you just don't have nearly as much horizontal FoV as the desktop window has.
It makes absolutely zero sense to me that when NO CROPPING AT ALL is applied the headset mirror/OBS plugin view is extremely narrower than the desktop and only gets worse from there.
Obviously I am doing something wrong but i've followed everything I can find exactly, I just can't figure it out.
I've updated and clean reinstalled OBS and the plugin itself, i've tried in 64bit and 32bit mode, nothing I do is altering it at all.

Last time I had a shapekey problem, I was able to go into edit mode, turn off "limit selection to visible", B to select everything above the neck, P to separate by the head by selection. Then go and delete all the shapekeys off of the half of your mesh below your neck, ctrl+J the two meshes back together, and hopefully your shapekey isn't fucked anymore.

You can test in blender before exporting to FBX. It'll do the same glitchiness if it's still broken.

It might just be that the FOV of the desktop mirror is wider than what you actually see in the headset. In which case you might google for GORN-specific options to change the FOV in it's mirror. Beatsaber has mods that do that.

It doesn't seem too weird, 1st gen VR has shit FOV, and you probably end up moving your head from side to side lot more to compensate, so it's less noticable. Some game display mirrors use a higher FOV + some motion smoothing so it's a better experience rather than exactly mirroring what you see in your headset.

googling around for "steamvr display mirror fov" I see a lot of the same complaints, but no fixes. sad.

Did any of you play the Onward update yet? I'm curious about how the new Opfor tablet mechanic works out. Does it require special gear like the drone or do you simply just pick up the tablet and it just works? If it's the latter then at first thought it means Opfor is at a disadvantage which is theoretically made up for the seemingly death-laser bipod. But the tablet looting only works when a enemy is downed and not dead yet, right? then it means Marsoc is making a huge gamble not finishing off enemies. And you have no way of knowing if a enemy is alive or not unless they make a sound. And even if they are alive, you're letting the enemy team have their own intel letting that downed person report your movement while you're in your view. So it's a tradeoff for the always present risk of getting that downed enemy revied vs getting the tactical advantage in intel. I'm just going off theoretical speculation though since I haven't played the update yet though. I'm curious how the marsoc using Volks tablet mechanic works out exactly.

While it's loading things it's locked to 11fps for me. Usually on startup or when I'm entering a room with tonnes of music tracks to download.
During the world's first SAO experience where we couldn't leave that instance it was stuck chugging at 11fps until suddenly it resolved back to a functional 45. Not sure if that was because people started leaving about that time when the workaround was found or quite what. Also turning my headset so each base station gets a good look at all sides seems to help but that might just be pigeon superstition.
