Watch the right hand edge the gun in thos generated frame to see it smearing the scenery behind it. Yeah, you'll still have 90fps and no nausea but your brain will notice a few artifacts like this and that will hurt immersion. SteamVR uses reprojection which is largely the same thing. Just leave that blurb out what you had is fine.
Problem with reprojection or ASW is that they cause artifacts and competely break immersion. What happens is if things go consistently sub 90 fps in steamvr and I think oculus too it drops the framerate to 45fps and does an interleaved thing where it injects a reprojected or ASW frame inbetween each real one so you still get an apparent 90fps just with a little judder/artifacts.
The REAL problem is when the meetups go sub 45 fps as neither ASW or reprojection are able to keep up at that point. That's when shit starts making people sick.

That said ASW is a better solution than reprojection as it takes the depth buffer and uses that to get the correct positional data as well whereas reprojection just gets the right rotational correction. So ASW will look closer but both still suffer from similar artifacts and frame to frame you usually aren't moving around in space enough to be able to tell the difference.

Frankly I'm surprised how little VR training sims I've seen and really the severe lack of business oriented VR solutions. I think it's a great idea. There's no possible better instruction medium short of the real thing but VR has the benefit of unlimited retries with no consequences in life, time, or money.
I've heard of instances of people who have learned to juggle by practicing in VR. Which has the benefit of being able to throw as high as you want and you can respawn balls without chasing them around everywhere. Neat stuff.

It works really well! It isn't aa good as Vive tracking but for like 20-30 bucks it gets the job done real good. Just make sure to calibrate properly if you don't it is a pain to use. I use Driver4Vr but there is a free alternative I can't remember it's name though. If you want full body tracking but don't want to spend a few hundred bucks it is a solid alternative

We've been hearing about these things for a long time. Those articles may not mention it but there are also other limitations meta lens researchers have run into, like transmission efficiency and size (in January they achieved 1cm diameter). It is only once all of these problems are solved that it'll see the light of day for consumer VR headsets.
It's funny how journalism rarely mention these limitations, making it feel like big huge advancements are happening all the time, except nothing ever actually comes out of it.

You'd have to benchmark to be sure, but I think they're pretty comparable. OculusVR has to do more pose estimation from the sensor (infrared camera) streams CPU-side, whereas OpenVR/lighthouses are passive and pose estimation is done inside the ASIC in the HMD/controller/trackers. However, OculusVR seems pretty efficient software-wise still, probably because Carmack. The other stuff OculusVR does like the dashboard/desktop mirroring and ASW is pretty nice besides, compared to the steam stuff.

The "Oculus Store" thing that pops up when you put on the rift is cancer though. It's still not a huge impact, but with a shit game like VRC you need all the help you can get. You can set it as run-as-administrator to prevent it from opening automatically, google around for instructions.

I will say that out of all the limitations of 1st gen optics, I think chromatic aberration has been solved pretty well. Chromatic aberration as well as other distortions were mitigated to an extent through fresnel optics on first gen headsets (and also with the help of software distortion correction). However it came at the cost of a few other distortions like god rays. We should see a good improvement in all areas on second gen headsets. Oculus Go already has almost no god rays or stray light. That, coupled with higher FOV, varifocal, and better higher resolution displays, should make second gen headsets a pretty good visual experience.

Generally I'm finding it's good while standing, usually good for a squat or hunch, and I can usually get into a position seated on a stool where my legs don't turn into noodles
I'm satisfied considering I already had the Kinect, but I wouldn't run out and buy a v2 and adapter just for vrchat - it doesn't seem like all that much of an upgrade for the price.
By what I see compared to v1 users, I have slightly better tracking of my foot rotation and turn to spaghetti less often when hunching.

Anyhow, I've been seeing a lot of new and interesting developments as far as the advanced optics are concerned. Waveguides have been getting more advanced and larger, see magic leap and those use lithographic like techniques to produce the grating. I think on this front in particular we're going to see some fairly rapid advances in the coming years now there's commercial interest. The fact that there's so much we can still do with optics amazes me.

2. Drop the contents of the zip to the Managed folder of VRChat. Path should be similar to D:\Steam\steamapps\common\VRChat\VRChat_Data\Managed
That's it, installed. You can now drop any mod in the Extra folder (that was extracted from the zip file. If for some reason it doesn't exist or you deleted it, create a folder called "Extra").

To install any mod that uses the custom scripting framework:
1a. Follow the mod instructions!
1b. If for some reason the mod doesn't include instructions, do this: drop the mod .dll in the Extra folder. Just that.

To create a mod/custm script:
Now, the exciting thing! You create mos for anything: worlds, avatars (WIP), or just VRChat itself!I'll assume that if you're reading this you know how to program and are tech savvy. But before, there is a basic requeriment:
-.NET Framework 3.5
-Visual Studio Community 2017. This is a wonderful IDE, much better than MonoDevelop.
Now you're ready to start creating a mod/custom script! But wait, there ae 2 types of mods: Mods that are customs scripts, and are attached using unity (example: dynamic bones) and mods than work as a standalone class that does any work but it's not attached to any gameobject but the ModInterface.
Now, the steps:
Open unity and write your code. The code you're writing is a .cs file, containing source code. this is ok for testing INSIDE the editor, but cannot be put into VRChat in any way. Then, how do we do this? Like this, read this carefully. We need to compile that source code into a DLL. To do this, open Visual Studio and create a new DLL library C# project targeting .NET Framework 3.5. Paste the source code. Add a reference to the UnityEngine.dll that is in the Managed folder, and a reference to Assembly-CSharp.dll if your mod uses it too. If your mod uses more DLL of the managed folder, add a reference to them. Compile with the Release profile (for perfomance, mainly) and you'll get a nice DLL in your visual studio project folder. That DLL will work in vrchat! Now, to use this mod/custom script in a world, import the dll to your unity project and use it as if it was a normal script (it is, actually). Upload your world (I'd not request it to be public, if a reviewer sees the script they may complain. Best to keep private). If this mod was not made to be in any world or avatar (WIP), simply skip the "import to unity" step. Finally, drop the DLL into the Extra folder so VRChat can have the custom script/mod.

So it's a tiny dl, about 100mb, and the game is a bit different to flotilla 1.

To start with it's not a sequential scenario roguelike, rather than having a sequence of random levels like in the first game, with choices between, you have a set of pre-made levels that you can play individually, all of which are selected in VR by taking little cartridges off a shelf and putting them into a machine. I guess the scenario is that you're playing a VR mission training thing for the fleet commanders that go on the space journey depicted in the first game.

In terms of gameplay, you have a variety of shiptypes, and they have visible weakspots (underside and rear thrusters), you then grab them in VR and move them to an end point to set their trajectory for that turn. You can no longer specifically target ships, but the autotargeting seems to work well. You also take damage from collisions with asteroids and space debris, which is quite fun in VR as there's a bit of physics, and you can see your little ships hitting the asteroids and the asteroids bouncing away. Similarly stray missiles can hit debris into your ships.

There are still upgrades of a sort, I'm not quite sure how they work - I think they're ship-specific special abilities that have limited uses within an encounter.

The short turns and nice music during the turns is still there. Game remains comfy/10, although I'm a bit disappointed not to have the roguelike narrative of the first. If workshop content starts to appear it could be really fun, and there look to be well over 100 levels with the game.

Trying to understand why the mod wasn't loading, turns out that to update the mod dll in unity you have to follow the same procedure as to update the SDK.
1. Close unity
2. Delete the dll and the dll .meta file
