Just picked up a new game, Conductor it is called. I'm a huge train nerd so I had it on my watch list for a little while but never really looked into it, saw it was on a sale right now and grabbed a copy.
I should have looked into it, it is not what I was expecting.

Both have good and bad points.

Orb can be a nice and chill guy, but it's easy to forget that he's young and impulsive and sometimes can't stop himself from chimping out. I suspect that he's from a fairly stable and comfortable background and as a result lacks some of the life experiences that makes a boy into a man and instills some temperance in him.
He's also currently having an issue with his place in the community. Being provocative and grabbing attention has always been an element of his character. The problem is that this could be accomplished in January with interesting avatars and by grabbing people with a big black avatar and going "oh yeah". In pursuit of stepping up his game, here we are eight months later and things have progressed to loud noises and stealing avatars to get that same reaction.
This has caused a disconnect between him and newfags. The newfags don't know the old orb and only know him by his niggerish behavior and he's failed to interface with new people.
I hope he can calm down a bit and interface with the community a little better.

Nukes is the kind of guy who would bail you out of jail at 3 AM and not ask questions if you needed him to. His main problem is one of disassociation. He's disconnected from and thinks he's better than the rest of the community. That causes him to completely fail at empathy on a regular basis, even though he's pretty decent at his core.

The design also isn't too bad this time. Actually it looks kind of cool or maybe funny, it looks like a wiiiide robot face. With that said it's still Microsoft's two camera controller tracking so it's still kind of gimped. Should be an interesting alternative to the Samsung Odyssey though. Actually microsoft's tracking is as good as the rifts, just in a different way.

The head tracking is PERFECT, with zero occlusion and you can go right down to the ground without ever having a problem, and you never block the cameras. You also only need the one USB port and you're good, and it works in smaller places and you can take it with you.

the hand tracking is still quite fucking good and has gotten better with the last update. It's a 200deg dome around your face that goes beyond your own vision. It also doesn't give up when it's behind you either unless you leave it there, and it snaps back pretty fast. It has an IMU in there so that as long as you're moving it fairly fast it still predicts where it is, and it does a really good job.
And the controllers are physically better than vive wands, if you're looking at buttons and such.

Here's a review from a vrchatter in may - the tracking is actually better now.
I own an acer WMR headset and a vive and a rift, and the 1400x1400 acer hmd is super lightweight and comfy to use. NEver has problems in beat saber or whatever, tracking is great if you reduce 2.4ghz interference and use a good bluetooth adapter.
It's improved even since that video was made, and microsoft has better async reprojection tech then the vive does actually - they may have borrowed it from oculus.
plus they're -UNDER- $200 USD all in now. I reccomend them to people who want vr because it's cheaper then some gaming keyboards and mice - and if they decide they wanna go all in on a vive later than they have a backup or something they can send their desktopper vrfu.

one last thing, I should also mention they perform better than the vive and rift at higher resolutions. the 1400x1400 supersampled to 2x or even 4x gets better frames than the vive, but that could be due to 75hz-90hz capabilities. and that most of the lcds they use use Variable Refresh Rate tech and AVX on the processor.
You do need a processor with AVX, so a amd bulldozer or FX is the bare minimum.
Considering how cheap they are though honestly I would get one of these over a rift every day unless the CV1 goes on fire sale with the entire setup and controllers for 200$ and it never has.

Performance issues with VRchat are all the engine - it performs bad on everything but a 1080ti on ryzen 2700x or i9. The experence you would get from a ryzen 1700 65w and a i5 or fx would be roughly the same after several players with dynamicbones joins a room, using hte same ram and video card.
The only reason some people get half decent performance in vrchat on vr is by brute force.
All other games are generally fine, as long as they're vulkan or dx12.

The release version of SteamVR for WMR is up to date now you don't need the new windows insider to get the performance, but being on insider gives you a few things.
To get tracking like I'm describing a few things are important.
1) Which usb port you're using really matters. If you have a usb 3.1 port use that. Make sure nothing else is on the same usb hub as the hmd, that means devices that are other ports but connected to the same hub can saturate if you're not careful. You can see what's connected using device manager. Update your chipset drivers or find the latest driver from the usb CHIP MFG if you're still getting poor performance on 3.1, it's probably that.
2) your bluetooth adapter needs to be 4.1 or better, and on it's own hub. Don't use front panel usb extensions they usually end up being noisy.
Turn your computer to the side if you want, or get a short usb 3.0 extension to make sure the bluetooth adapter is as close to your hmd's placespace as possible.
3) remove sources of 2.4ghz from everything. This is other bluetooth devices, wifi, steam controller, wireless speakers, whatever. You don't need 2.4ghz, it sucks. Use 5ghz or 700-900mhz AC for wireless if you need it.
4) the batteries in the controller matter. I use recharibles myself, but the minute they get to 50% WMR controllers go into a low power power saving mode and disable the internal IMU - which reduces the tracking quality significantly and probably why people think the hand tracking sucks.
It doesn't. Get some good batteries, like super high cap brand new lipo ones that last forever.
5) finally, your room. The room should be a little cluttered, actually, or have furniture. Or put some posters up with some unique geometry. WMR uses stereo vision machine learning and needs to know where all four corners are.

I had stopped using the SteamVR and SteamVR for WMR betas when I was trying out KinectToVR, but I should probably go back to the betas since I'm not messing with it anymore. I'm not going to bother with the Windows insider builds for now though. The only head tracking issues I have are when I get really close to the floor, but it doesn't happen often anyways, so I'm not too worried about that. I find it much easier to talk to people in VR than in reality. There's the obvious thing where everyone is a cute anime character, but I think there's also a less acknowledged difference where everyone is relatively easy to hear and understand and there's minimal background noise, so communication is unambiguous. I notice that whenever someone starts micspamming loudly while I'm in a conversation, or if a desktopper has a low-quality buzzing mic, then I get unreasonably agitated.

Conversely, in your case, you may find it difficult in VR because you're used to picking up on cues like eye contact, detailed subconscious facial expressions, and fidgeting or body language. None of these come through in VR, which may throw you off.
