The largest lobby I played in was about 28 players and the only problems were smokes tanking the frame rate and IK glitches becoming more frequent. I expected the netcode to have a meltdown at 15 players or something, but it was almost perfect. 5v5 is the worst VR meme.

Weight painting is how much influence each bone has over the parts of the mesh you specify. The "weight" determines how strongly the mesh adheres to the bone's movement, and that's basically out of 0-100%. Think of it this way - if weight is painted at 50%, and a bone moves 90deg along x, the mesh+verts will move 45deg along x along with it but not all the way. Each quad/triangle will stretch appropriately to meet that target. Blending weights between bones allows for partial natural looking movements, or "collapses" that work like accordions, which is what you want for some hair and clothing movement.

In contrast, blend shapes are a smooth motion between two points relative to the origin (local) of the model that are predefined.
