Like, they have no sense of flow or bodily movements, so you'll have like a downward-right slash with your right arm at the mid-right 'spot' followed by an upward-right slash at like the top-left corner of the chart, on 16th notes where you have to basically twitch the remote up to reach the second note, assuming you can move that fast.

That, and like you said, the fucking obsession with up-down 'drumrolls'. Knock that shit off. If you miss one note and lose the rhythm, suddenly you fail the whole song in the span of 2 seconds.

It's too bad there's enough people (at least 10 going by the scoreboards) who can keep up with that bullshit, so the mod song mappers think that justifies it. And so, a lot of my personal favorite songs are unplayable to me because the author will EXCLUSIVELY release an Expert++++ version with 600 notes in a two minute song (and no other difficulty maps), and just shrug their shoulders at casuals who can't keep up.

From my first impressions I think this game kind of fuses dance with drumming and sort of sword style slashing.
And mappers are taking the drumming part of it a bit too literal. The better maps I've seen from vids make the rapid drum bits dot blocks rather than alternating slashes that muddle you up.

Goldrush and Hopper both have JJ buffs (the former in forward thrust, the latter in fuel efficiency and I think vertical thrust specifically), Drill goes sanic speed and has very quick fuel recharge.

I get that the JJs, while important, are NOT the end-all of the game, but this leaves Catalyst and Dredge as the two 'grounded' type of mechs (because why choose Catalyst over Goldrush given the latter's mobility and torso durability? Catalyst has a built-in 8-missile launcher, neat...)

And then between Catalyst and Dredge, since you're already foregoing maneuverability since you aren't choosing literally any of the three mechs that DO have jumping advantage, why would you not choose Dredge given an extra weapon slot and way more armor?

haven't played myself, allows up to 8v8 which is bigger than what Pavlov and vanilla Onward allows. It's EA at 25$ so don't expect a price slash. From what another anon said, it doesn't involve much strategy so it's all about zerging.

Also want to mention that Pavlov custom maps are absurdly unoptimized. It's not bandwidth burger friendly at all since you can easily burn thru like more than 6gb downloading maps

Oculus tracking has room-scale that fits most rooms, just need an inexpensive 3rd sensor. The tracking quality is actually better than Vive's by a slight margin, but at the cost of CPU cycles

Oculus needs a third sensor for room scale, Vive and Mixed Reality don't.
Oculus with 3 sensors gives you 360 degree tracking of your controllers, Oculus with 2 has blind spots behind you. Vive doesn't have any blindspots unless you really try to occlude shit from the lighthouses, and WMR doesn't have any way to track your hands behind your back, but works around that to a degree with accelerometers and gyroscopes in the controllers, and otherwise has room scale as good as Vive and theoretically only limited by its cable.

A GTX 1050ti will be playable on low to medium settings in most things, but you shouldn't really look at anything less than a 1060ti 6gb or a 970 if you want to not worry about it.

If you're doing room scale with two oculus sensors you're meant to place them diagonally.
However, there's a reason they very clearly state several times that two-sensor room scale is an "experimental" feature.

Can confirm Mixed reality works pretty well.
And you could use it in a broom closet. It hardly needs any space at all and it does a great job (in my experience at least) of remembering your boundary in VR.
So I can go from sitting on my bed to the middle of the boundary box without even taking my headset off first.
It's real easy to setup and use. And it's pretty compatible with stuff as long as you don't leave your arms under/behind or off to the side for too long. And even then it desyncs for like a second and snaps back as soons as your hands come back into view of the cameras on the headset.
IDP of your eyes should be near 62-63 though. Mine are about 65 according to my PSVR's camera calibration. I hear people with like 67+ have issues with it being too blurry.
I see the blur on the edges mostly or if I defocus my vision, though this was at the default 62.5 software setting. I've cranked it up to 65 now but I'm not testing if it helps till tomorrow morning since I am absolutely exhausted pretending to be drunk for hours, and doing drunk dances and lobbing things.

So yeah. I absolutely recommend it if you want something to dip your toes in. A Rift costs like £300-£350 used. £350 on sale sometimes, (and that third sensor is extra cost). Vive is even more.
My headset and controllers cost like £170. I can use that in combo with my PSVR and play almost any VR game coming out. (Not sure about games designed around large room scale though. Never tried that)

I went on VRChat and used my Cloud II headset with my Dell Visor for a few hours. It works pretty well and the mic seems pretty clear but god. It makes you sweat like crazy. Especially playing something like Beat Saber.
It's the Cloud IIs mostly. Them cans lock in the heat from your head and my room is next to the boiler. I'm sure glad winters coming around soon.
I feel like trying to get one of those custom sweat resistant headset linings.

You'd need the forearms and from that knowing hand position you can get the shoulder. With two shoulder positions you can get a reasonable figure for the chest and refine it with the head position. Work your way down from there you'd need a tracker to get hip angle and two for the thighs, then you could skip the shins and solve from the thighs + two for the feet. You'd have to calibrate to get the lengths of the limbs but that's only 7 imu's for better fbt than you can get with the 3 pucks. should surely be doable for less than $75.

I actually have one of these, slightly newer (bno080) sparkfun version. It's nice in that it just gives you orientation euler angles over i2c. I was planning to combine with an esp8266 and transmit over 802.11. But at $35 bux each, I don't want to buy 6 more. Plus i2c multiplexing 7 of them is tricky, need another chip for that since the chip only have two addresses by default.

So I think it's closer to a $150-250 BOM, practically. Either buying the consumer breakouts, or etching the boards and soldering yourself (lots of work). Still decent compared to pucks plus basestations, but not kinect.

In VR, all these processes screech to a halt. Anime girls have no real body language outside of moving their head and hands around, and FBT isn't precise enough for you to really understand somebody's body language without them deliberately amplifying it. Remember, socialization is a skill learned like any other. You'll obviously get nervous in VR, as all the little ways you have to gauge someone's reaction as you talk, tell jokes, gossip, whatever, don't work. This is probably one of the reasons why /vrg/ drinks so hard.

VR socializing is worse than voice chat or text socializing, because your brain sees these human-shaped /things/ in front of you that speak like people, tries to parse their body language and microexpressions, and finds fucking nothing there. Imagine a comedian trying his stand-up routine with a completely dead audience.
