>VRCHAT GENERAL
>>239629047 (OP)
Whole family has VR now. What are good multi-player games for four people to play? I know there are a lot for two-person, and then pic-related has some that are good for large groups like paintball, but what are the best VR games that 3-4 people can play? Preferably co-op, and relatively casual that people who aren't really gamers can enjoy.
The only one I've come across so far is Star Trek but desu that game is boring as hell.
We watched new years streams, and maybe a little fortenite.

/vrcag/ VRChat Anime (discord) general
>>239630138
Recroom also has some dungeon "quests" that are 3-4 people max which are quite fun. Vrchat itself has some janky dungeon maps as well, and even just exploring some of the bigger maps like sketchu springs is fun and very casual, though no real gameplay obviously. Pokerstars VR is poker.
I bought karnage chronicles a few days ago and it apparently has co-op multiplayer, but haven't found anyone to play with yet. singleplayer is pretty fun on its own still though. There's also stuff like sprint vector and climbey, though I've never played them personally.
Oh also there's tabletop simulator. It's pretty rough UI-wise the last time I tried it, but it'll work for simpler board games.
Comfy EU hours early in the night.

>>239631295
i know how to socialize, but why would i want to socialize with people who spend all day taking hormones to please their internet thot """"""girl"""""friends.
wow, great, you found anime avatar #239032093209, congratulations
>>239631005
In my short times going to the meetups, I've seen some very creative things that are wonderful to see and partake in. Just to provide a few examples, Blue-kun's excellently built Christmas world, that felt really chill and wonderful, along with all the avatar gifts from there...and at each meetup, there's also usually two or three people with new and interesting avatars to show off...and sometimes you can have the shared experience of exploring a new and interesting world with a few friends.
But then I guess I'm easily amused. I love seeing what people create, so VRChat is something I find great interest in. Maybe it just isn't for you though. Maybe you should try some other game like Atlas instead.

we're pulling triggers in serious sam vr :)
https://www.strawpoll.me/17150495 Sorry for the name drop, but its Dal again. We are going to be getting serious and playing some serious sam tonight. As discussed in thediscord, if somebody wants to make a boomer playlist to use during the playthroughs, please post music to use and we can use the bot to play the music. Going to use a strawpoll to gauge interest on which one of these games we should play. The time that we are going to be playing is about 7pm pst. So try and vote, or dm me, or let it be known in the thread if you would like to play, and which game we should play. Depending on interest we might start playing through serious sam on a scheduled basis.
>>239636980
Figured I'd wait until closer to the start time to post, but I'll just go ahead and post now.
Trigger double feature tonight at 10PM EST. I'll be showing the first Little Witch Academia OVA followed by an Inferno Cop marathon. Join offSilencenif you're interested. I'll post a reminder in a couple of hours when the room is up.

Is there a way to remove the vignette or whatever the fuck it is when you sprint in Contractors?
So, I just sent in a refund request for Arizona Sunshine since it's so boring and generic and I could literally just walk up to any zombie that isn't doing that incredibly slow ass run toward me, put my gun up to their head, and pull the trigger. Plus the multiplayer matchmaking is really bad.
What should I get with my money? Preferably something I can play with you fags. I already have Pavlov, got Sairento (which I'm also thinking of refunding), and Tabletop Simulator.
Here's another version of the big group photo from last night. More loaded people, but a few blocked shaders.
Gosh I wish that were me
>tfw played a little bit of Left 4 Dead and other Source games on my laptop
Man, fuck Valve for not even attempting to port those games.
I mean fuck, I like Pavlov, but it's trash compared to CS:S, getting assfucked by a crowd of zombies in L4D would be pretty great too.
>>239639716
It's just a launcher, doesn't actually include all the games. You get it for free for buying any of the games.
>>239640446
I'm not saying they're gonna port them but when it's known that they have an HMD in-dev it seems kinda silly to bitch about it when they're obviously not going to do VR ports until they have their own platform for it.
>>239637556

Can someone explain to me what the playspace mover is, where to get it, and how to use it?
>>239640078
Turn off FOV limiter. It's meant for brainlets who can't move in VR without vomiting.
>>239641385
It's a mod for steamvr that lets you move where your playspace is relative to the virtual world. Basically lets you grab and move the universe while you stay still. I use https://github.com/icewind1991/OpenVR-AdvancedSettings/releases which has it built in.
Serious Sam in VR feels like cheating due to dual-wielding weapons with independent fire rates. Plus being able to aim at two targets simultaneously which is great on hordes of fodder.
Only thing the game is lacking is local VR+Desktop play on the same machine, which given how optimized the engine is (it already supports 4-player splitscreen), probably would have been doable with a capable enough GPU.
So how's contractors doing? Dead?
Contractors really needs team killing punishments. I've seen a retard who does nothing but attack teammates for the entire game in every server.
>>239642383
There's usually about 8 servers up, but I'm seeing the same names everywhere, and have met 7 /vrg/ members by chance so the community is clearly tiny.
>>239642383
Constantly at least 6 games up at the worst. Shroud is still streaming it and reddit is shilling it as hard as possible.
>>239641685
The fork in the OP also has the playspace mover built-in, as well as a nice battery indicator for all your trackers when you're in the overlay.
>>239642694
>>239643113
>>239642383
Well that was fucking quick to die.
>>239643113
Really? Haven't seen it mentioned on r/Vive at all. Goes for most games really after Beat Saber.
>Occulus stick motion is tied to where you are actually pointing your hand
For fucks sake. Is there any way to change this?
>>239643201
Yeah this one has the battery overlay as well. There are tonnes of forks of it at the moment but this one doesn't have physics as far as I'm aware so you can't throw yourself or glide. The version I had that did constantly crashed after the recent steamvr update and I haven't gone looking since.
pavlov
mysterious stranger
pin: 1984
>>239643432
in what game?
>>239643446
Oh, I didn't notice that icewind finally updated his fork to 2.7. The only one with physics emulation is naelstrof's original one https://github.com/naelstrof/VRPlayspaceMover which still requires the never-updated input emulator iirc. It conflicts with the rift+trackers calibrator, so I've never bothered to try it.
>>239643432
Yeah, i hate that too, especially in onward, where if you put your hand up to your head to speak into the mic while moving, you start walking backwards. It's game-specific though whether stick movement is head or controller relative, so you may be SOL.
>>239643587
Both Skyrim VR and that Horseshoes Grenades thing. Haven't tried any other game that has proper walking. Feels absolutely retarded, and I was wondering why the hell my character was walking left instead of towards the front.
I guess it might be fine once PC devs get their head out of their ass and start using proper controllers again instead of this faggot motion shit.
>>239643541
I can't slide in this game.
>>239643941
Skyrim vr, as long as you are playing the may update I think, lets you change to HMD-based movement
>>239643432
I want to know where this fucking trend started, since it throws me off way more than HMD-based movement. It's the worst thing in FPS titles since you're always doing something with your hands.
>>239643314
>die
?? It hasn't dipped yet.
>>239643432
Why the fuck would you want it any other way? If you tie it to your head you have to fish around with the stick to keep moving straight while you look around.
>PSVR fags need not come here as there is nothing for you
Astro Bot
Resident Evil 7
Wipeout Omega Collection
The above games shit all over anything the Occulus can play right now. Only exception is Beat Saber, and while it's on the PS4, I haven't tried it yet to compare with the PC version. Also Lone Echo comes close, but there are no enemies, and it feels more like a floating simulator than an actual game (admittedly a very good floating simulator).
>>239644436
I figured that may be the case actually. Most of the stuff I have is pirated so I'm probably a little behind whatever fixes came out.
>>239644967
>Why the fuck would you want it any other way?
Because I'm not some fucking retard that gets confused about where forwards is when I move a controller around with my hands. Have you even played any fucking videogames in your life before VR?
What time is Serious Sam exactly and is Fusion enough?
>>239644967

>>239645237
>Because I'm not some fucking retard that gets confused about where forwards is when I move a controller around with my hands. Have you even played any fucking videogames in your life before VR?
Yes, which is why HMD-relative movement confuses the shit out of me. I'd rather have free look where I don't have to dick around with the stick to keep moving in one direction.
>>239645237
is RE7 really that good bros?
>>239645596

>>239645765
>You do realise that control sticks used to work independent of where your body was pointed right?
What is this supposed to fucking mean
>>239644967
>>239645521
Ideally we'd have an option for movement that remembers where your HMD 'was' the moment you start moving, and all direction input is relative to that moment until you completely stop moving, then it resets to wherever you're now looking at the next time you press a direction.
Right now it's a pain to run down a hall and check your flanks without having to spin the analog stick to correct yourself.
>>239645941
I guess like... a compass? I don't see how possibly it could work well. The best way is just to use one hand for moving and other for stabbing and shit. It will never be perfect, unless walk-in-place by NaLo is good enough to supplement touchpad locomotion. Haven't tried it yet.
>>239646282
>unless walk-in-place by NaLo is good enough to supplement touchpad locomotion. Haven't tried it yet.
Four times as many problems as HMD relative motion. Enjoy never using a stock, ever.

>>239647309
Nothing about what I wrote seems to have translated itself into your brain. The way it CURRENTLY is in those games is that you snap a part of your body, choose either your face or your fucking hands, and you're side stepping. The way it SHOULD be is that you are pointing forward relative to the controller and you move forward. That way it doesn't matter what way the controller is facing, or your head is.

This cheeky cunt can go fuck a brick
VR is warping reality, for the first time since I got VR a girl slept in my bed with me and I was practically trapped in my bed unsure of what was real.
After a little while I ended up visualizing me and her as being fake and the contact I was having with her being physics colliders which send signals I can feel when activated at different strength levels simulating pressure and different movements and physical size changes being activated by sliders. I was going back and forth from dreaming, being in a waking but hallucinating state and just being awake but I saw it all as if I was in VR. The more of a dreaming state I was in the more the world around me shaped to me just being in VRchat walking around worlds and going through portals. The more I was awake the more I saw the physical world and everything in it as just being computer simulated.
I'm now beginning to accept the possibility of simulation theory, and am beginning to see the virtual and physical worlds as the same thing with the only difference being actions in the physical world are permanent and irreversible.

So me and anon played about an hour of co-op, just the two of us. It was... okay, but compared to the free rec room quests, it's definitely not a strict upgrade, which is not good for a $15 game.
On the plus side, the aesthetics are definitely a lot more pretty and warcraft-esque, rather than rec room's "school play" aesthetic. Mechanically, you and the enemies have HP bars, and you have some switchable armor and weapon loadouts fixed to a "warrior" and "archer" class, and an inventory (of mostly variations on food that heals you for a % of your health), rather than rec room's pickup weapons and "one hit and you die until teammmate revives" mechanics. However, the differences essentially end there. There's literally as much actual dungeon content in karnage as a single rec room quest, right down to the length of the mostly-linear dungeons, number of enemy mob types, some mini bosses, and a final boss with a big hp bar. Maybe about 1.5 rec room quests, but we did ~60% of the game in an hour, including beating the current final boss.
Ostensibly the melee weapons have their damage scaled by velocity to prevent waggling, but I found that it just makes you do big whole-arm waggling instead. More tiring, but the same feeling. The mobs will "parry" your attacks in certain angles, and you have to move your shield to block theirs, but it basically amounts to a miss percentage for your flails to do damage. Clang!
On the multiplayer side specifically, the voice chat isn't spatialized, just center-panned with a fade based on distance, so again not even as good as rec room. There were some sync/lag issues for arrows firing for the other anon, but I was fine as host.
So yeah, play the rec room quests instead if you're looking for an dungeon crawling coop game. If you finish all of those and need more, or you really have to have a warcraft-esque aesthetic instead, then pay $15 for karnage, but know that all you're buying is a demo and promises at the moment.

I do wonder how well/badly their ports have done for them financially given all the work of upgrading the engines to support it (going the full route of supporting both nVidia & AMD's own VR SDKs, and SteamvR+Oculus API), and then re-porting them all to Fusion on a further updated engine.
Serious Sam 4 not having any announcement for VR support yet seems a bit telling since you figure they'd do development with it in mind since they built the tools for it already.

I don't say I wouldn't at least try those if they were on PC, but I don't care enough about PSVR's precious "real games" too much.
I'm hyped about VR precisely because I'm fucking tired of "real games". Same reason why I don't even bother with VorpX. I want engaging mechanics, I'd rather play H3VR again.
AC7 was maybe the one thing I would consider a system seller, but they moved the goalposts so much it's probably gonna be just another experience.

Nah, too dumb to follow Tupper's manual without fucking up the animation part. The best I managed was a too short avatar with awkward camera placement with no animations. Gave up after that as I was already mentally preparing myself for wagecucking at this point.
How to be a successful Beat Saber youtuber/streamer, in order of importance:
1. Garish color schemes. The more visually obtrusive, the better. Neon yellow and pink highly recommended.
2. Saber mods. Dual Katanas makes you better.
3. Nigger rap. Must have. Top 40's ideal.
4. Either no camera mod for obscene jitter that masks the fact you're playing on the Hard difficulty beatmap that you hid under Expert, or camera mod with 130 FOV to make the song seem extraordinarily fast.
5. Flashy head and hand movements that add nothing to the actual gameplay. Basically dance to the music, except out of beat and it makes your video unwatchable.
6. Blur your global scoresaber rank to hide the fact you're 3,000th.
7. 5 pinned comments verbally jerking you off, talking about how you're basically going Super Saiyan during the 10 block climax, or how the commenter is "too old" to play the game, despite saying they're 15 in their profile.
8. Camera angled to either include your real life profile, or a silly avatar, focused more on your movement than the song itself. Optional, but very important if you're crossdressing.

I've unplugged and replugged everything back in, got my fingers and toes crossed hoping that it was just a loose cable or something. Guess I'll find out once this glue dries. 2019 is off to a rough start.
Also don't buy WidmoVR lenses, although they get the job done, the build quality is shit. I dropped them once and they broke.
>>239699382
I've never designed anything before and would probably lose my cash if I actually decided to build it, but I was thinking of designing a chair with modular/adjustable arm rests and a lite form of legs rests similar to those at barbers where your feet have a flat surface to push down on where people could also add pedals if they have them, that is designed with VR in mind. If possible some form of silent low energy thing to adjust the rotational x and z axis of the chair by 10-15 degrees that can be changed by in game motion could be added as well but that might be too much.
I don't own any "Gaming" chairs but the name always made me wonder how the fuck they are actually not just fancy looking office chairs so I always thought the above would make the name appropriate.
>>239700074

They get so fucking triggered seeing their 1h "HARD WORK" on someone else. Bonus points if they have their name spinning around their arm/leg.

>the new card uses a HDMI port, while I only have shitty VGA cables
my monitor is connected to the cpu wight now (I think), can I plug my Rift into the graphics card and start playing, or am I fucked until i can go to the store and get an adapter tomorrow?
>>239708936
Using onboard graphics simultaneously with a graphics card is an option that not all processors/motherboards support. You'd have to look up yours, or check the motherboard manual. Either way, running two graphics drivers at the same time is not going to be good for your performance.
>>239708936
I have no idea what you're talking about but the answer is that the headset and your monitor should be both plugged into the graphics card. Get an adapter. You'll need a DVI-VGA one or Display-port to VGA one. Check what ports you actually have.
>>239708936
Shouldn't be a problem if your using the motherboard for the monitor.
>>239708936
Should hook your monitor up to the GPU as well? Either via DVI, DP, DP->HDMI adapter, or another HDMI if the card has multiple of those.
>>239708936
So long as the hdmi of the oculus goes straight to the gpu you should be fine. Could consider getting display port adapters for more hdmi slots if you gey more monitors (i had to get them cause i had 4 display ports and 1 hdmi which was used by my oculus)
VRChat has legitimately given me insight into the nature of human relationships and the development of personality. If you're cute, people treat you nicely by default, and you can try this out for yourself in VRChat.
So in real life, it's just strange getting treated like me again.
>>239709329

>>239727075
The bones close to your thigh need to be 100% weighted to it so they don't clip through it. The skirt bones closer to the outside/edge and between the legs don't need 100% weighting because you want a "smooth" transition, so you set them to a 50% mix.

the issue is never getting it done, it's the waiting and uncertainty (missing delivery drivers, stuff from ebay not shipping for a week, scams). you could do everything right and just fail to boot because your RAM is DOA or even just a faulty cable. you really need a test system nearby and something else to play on or else you will fuck up in haste. I've been building PCs since i help my dad build our XT and for myself i will usually buy a cheap prebuilt with a good board and case and upgrade that. my last pc was a DualCore that i did a gardening worktrade for, that i put a Q9550, GTX960, 800W PSU and SSD in. whole thing was under $300 plus a few hours picking ramps.

The reason this isn't a problem is because mobile hardware is a handful of tweaks away from being a tick lower than a laptop rather than a tenth the power. Nvidia hasn't slept on mobile hardware. The Tegra series has *always* been capable of great graphics, and once the Windows on ARM ecosystem and standalone headsets really take off, Nvidia isn't going to sleep on that either. Much larger and faster iGPU bus will be the first thing to happen, followed by Nvidia revealing a Turing successor-based Tegra in a ~3.0GHz octo-core ARM package deliberately designed for high-fidelity consoles, ARM-based laptops, and standalone VR sets.
Granted, it's not going to be competing with high end PCVR, but it'll be a bee's fart from, say, a GTX XX50.
>>239745419
UX. That's all.
>>239745783
A lot of that is going to be due in large part to upcoming advancements in ARM as a whole. At first I was skeptical of the idea of ARM ever branching out into *desktops*, but actually developing that tech base would have drastic consequences at all levels. And really, if the tools improve to make porting applications to ARM rather seamless, as things are getting that way, there's no reason that it wouldn't happen if the industry pushes it hard enough.

>>239745367
Without an Eternal September, VR will die. It will go the way of 3D TVs and VR's last attempt to succeed the in the 90's. If you want a full dive future, then hope that VR goes mainstream while doing everything you can to hold on to the friends you've made here so far. you are probably twisting your torso instead of turning your body like you would without the headset. Trust me, I'm a medical doctor.
>>239746152
Much more than just the underlying chips powering the headset, PC VR and mobile VR will develop alongside each other simply because both will be demanded, by both consumers and industry. And of course because they actually can be both developed at the same time, as they mostly leverage the same components barring the computer. Then we get into wireless foveated transport (look into Google's research about this for more info) and we'll be easily using the same headset we bought with our PC and with our mobile processing unit or whatever it is in the future (whether it's in the headset, outside a la Magic Leap, a laptop/tablet, or even a cyberdeck), with the ability to seamlessly switch wirelessly between which is transmitting to your headset. Maybe it'll still be a laptop or tablet. Maybe it'll be a cyberdeck.

I've never done walking animations before but it should be the same principle as gesture overrides. Enable the sound source in the animation, assign to the walking/running animations in the override controller, there you go. Main problem is that it's hard to make a walking loop by yourself compared to a one-frame gesture override. I imagine there's a way to edit the default walk cycle, but I haven't looked extensively into it.
>>239749510
1. create animation that is just the audio source enabled
2. jam it in there

>hold on to the friends you've made here so far
This is what I did with my internet friends before forums and MMOs got September'd. It's been over a decade and we're still tight. Looking forward to having some new faces from VR.
>>239751070
the default walking animation is in the sdk just duplicate that out of the prefab and add sound
And if you said this life ain't good enough
I would give my world to lift you up
I could change my life to better suit your mood
Because you're so smooth
And it's just like the ocean under the moon
Oh, it's the same as the emotion that I get from you
You got the kind of lovin' that can be so smooth, yeah
Give me your heart, make it real or else forget about it

In my dreams, I'm my avatar about half the time. I'm sure it's not a big deal, though.
How do you figure out these bowlroll passwords? I copy paste the alleged password bit from a models nicovideo page but they never work?
Is the Japanese language naturally cryptographic and shit needs to be changed?
>>239753425
>Is the Japanese language naturally cryptographic
Yes. It has extreme potential for word play.
>>239753425
I'm pretty good at them. Since I have a working knowledge of how written Japanese works. Which one do you want me to try to crack?
Mimi kuzaliana yako vrfu
About how often has valve done Knuckles approval waves?
Ce n'est pas juste...

the day of the massive wave a few hours after people posted about in the thread
>>239754681
This one was posted in 2013, and it says distribution only lasts until May 8. I assume it originally had a password hint on a video posted to nico, but the video was removed over five years ago. Doubt I'd be able to crack it without the hint.
>>239754861
It helps if you post the actual bowlroll link.
看護師 should probably be it, but I have no way of verifying.
>>239754681
Can't see anything about a password on here, but it may be because I don't have a bowlroll account.
>>239755761
>>239755794
I see. Thanks for checking it up anyways
>>239755407
It worked, thanks a lot senpai
I randomly like to learn the basics of languages but rarely try to become good at it, I did this with Japanese about a month ago.
Roughly what level of skill or time of study do you think would be necessary just to decrypt moonrunes?
>>239755761
It says the answer is in katakana.
>>239755886
Every day for years.
>>239754861
>>239755407
This one is correct. Sorry, I didn't see the bowlroll link in the description for whatever reason.
>>239755886
You can't learn Japanese it's literally impossible.
>>239755886
It honestly takes no time at all for hiragana or katakana. They are incredibly easy. I've learned most of what I know over the summer.
Kanji is a bit more difficult.
Given, I still have to use google translate to help me along in places.
>>239755886
half of japan doesn't actually know japanese which is why their mass produced anime meant to be consumed across the entire country is so base, simplistic and formulaic
>>239756504
Do you have a single fact to back that up
>>239750858
It falls under stuff that's been out forever. It was also more of aspacewalking simulator than full on videogame, but it was still my favorite VR "experience" so far.I wish there were more vidya that put that kind of effort in. Everything else I've tried singleplayer-wise was pretty arcadey, early access, or tech-demo-y
>>239756598
He's pretty much right about anime. You can understand 99% of what is said with kindergartner level vocabulary. Ironically, hentai is even easier.
>>239756598
oh yumye most sweetainly
i havisfact multchawable snackisfacts to snack that up
>>239756452
Thanks for all the help and advice.
I didn't have too much trouble when learning Chinese so kanji might come a bit easier to me, and using the resources in the /jp/ language learning thread the hirigana+katakana is pretty simple as you say .
>>239757076
Vocabulary is much worse than Kanji. Aside from loan words, it has no connection at all to any Indo-European language and you need about twice the vocabulary size as in English.
>>239757480
Oh. And forget about net japanese. If you think that walking into 4chan as a fresh ESL with no forewarning would be isolating and incomprehensible, multiply that by a hundred. You'll never quite be able to read 2ch posts.
someone make new thread
i'm not doing it because i'm cursed to make one and post it seconds behind someone else makes it every time
>>239757059
Could you expand on
>half of japan doesn't actually know Japanese
>>239758345
I'll make one.
>>239758376
A lot can't write many Kanji because they've just been able to type them for their entire life.
>>239756504
>"the same could be said of all religions"
being polysyllabic is called "talking like a fag" in america
>>239758376
a lot of the greater japanese population lives out in the countryside or has blue collar jobs
and their own mastery of the full japanese language is often not up to the level internet weebs consider "knowing japanese"
