Probably Pavlov. But you know what, I don't actually really even enjoy it much at all right now. VR gaming for me is like fun for a while and then you get tired of all the shitty things in each game because they're just not developed that well. I like dot quite a bit but he is fundamentally flawed in the way that several other people in the community are - and that's that he seeks attention by being provocative. it's fucking great. It's still very rough but considering what some first releases look like in comparison, this is AAA. Huge map, drive trains. It's unlikely you'll be able to demo and refund as there is no saving yet so if something happens you have to start over. Steam version runs in SteamVR even on Rift and has framerate issues.

Standard is unironically a good shader, you just have to use it correctly.
There's also Lux, which is a free shader package on the Unity store that adds a few features of its own into its standard shader and it looks really good in proper lighting.
Just be warned that PBR doesn't look good on anime faces, which is why toon shaders are so prevalent. I've had some success using two different shaders on my avatar (PBR on armor, toon on skin).
There's also another option, which is using a matcap toon shader that lets you mimic PBR on your avatar but also mask out the shiny/shaded bits for your skin. Ask Rhyperior about that one.

It was never mass produced due to price constraints, but the tech is very similar to the Knuckles controllers. Sure, but it gives a good vague indicator. A 3 star map is not likely to be more difficult than a 5 star map, for example. At the higher ranges, it becomes more and more wonky, but in the lower ranges? It works pretty well, at least in my experience.

If you can easily get through the default songs on expert but not expert+, try running through a song on expert+ in no-fail mode two or three times, then turning the training wheels off and seeing if you can pass it. This worked for me on a lot of them.

The #1 advice for Beat Saber is to analyse where you're going wrong - play the song on slow mode, and figure out each pattern individually. Alternatively, play other maps with the same patterns, and learn through that and come back to it, to prevent yourself from thinking "I cheated by memorizing".

Building the pattern recognition is the biggest thing for Beat Saber, but you have to be proactive at it.

I started VRC one year and a half mostly to try beating my antisocial awkwardness i had since small (no irl friends, no contact whatsoever),
/vrg/ seemed to be a good idea but in the long run, i made no real progress socially in here even thought i've been around those meetups for a full year.
The /vrg/ birthday party a couple weeks ago made me realize how much of a miserable fuck i was just standing around alone.

I tried to ask for help anonymously in the past but the tips were basically "try speaking to Yuru/Shammy" but that shit was the worst tip i've ever read
since you cannot approach one of them without feeling like a goddamn orbiter and they'd probably feels like the town's friendship bike so i prefer not to bother with them.
Had some people trying to force me to get more vocal or i won't progress, but it's the kind of people that already been social and successful around for a long period of time, don't think they can even feel empathy toward people with difficulties,
i honestly despised their attitude just thinking shouting at me to get vocal would ever work.
Now i know how it feels when i say "deal with it" to people with personal problems they cannot handle well.

All that crap just to say it's probably better for me to never come back in those meetups, there's like over 40+ person that added me from /vrg/ in my friendlist but literally zero of them ever join on me or notice my presence.
just gonna accept i'm not cool to hang around with, even less fun to be with. At least i learned my limit of socializing and i guess i should simply be okay with that.

Testing out ACiil's UTS fork. It's quite powerful as a shader. lots of tweaking but overall as long as you manage to understand what each bar does) with a little help from a shamisen it's one of the best ahaders for anime right now. Like by a long shot.

If you look into using it, prepare to commit hours going through poorly translated manuals and simply trial-and-erroring every option in the giant list of unorganised mess until you figure what enough settings do to get something out of it.

Instead of shadow ramps like most other toon shaders, it uses individual texture files for each level of shading as well as multiple different special features like AO maps and varied outline thickness (3GB 1060s will love you), and you can set the position and blend amount between each level of shading with sliders. So that's even more time you'll be spending, colour tweaking each texture part by part to get it to look better than simply darkening it.

Poiyomi is alright. Pretty sure the kemono here uses it. The boat uses xiexies and the yakuza uses standard. Mine uses poiyomi with a custom shadow ramp for the face and the standard toon shadow ramp for the hair, xiexie's for the buckle and ribbon, and standard for the armour and spandex parts. Poiyomi uses fake lighting to get the shadow effect which is lit from the top. You can change the direction of the light in the options though.
The real meme is the posters, not the shader. Noe's is still good.

Xiexies does seem to make the textures a bit more washed out. No idea what the fuck is happening with the shader to cause that but it is what it is. Cubed has the opposite where everything looks vibrant and soft. It's nice but muh shadows. Pretty sure yawnsu uses xiexie and they don't have the washed out look so you might need to ask them what they do to stop that from happening.

If you thought yawnsu was xiexie you might be mistaking some other good looking avatars for using xiexie when they're using UTS.
The end result is far superior i've never seen anything look as eye catchingly good as a well tuned UTS.
Temporal, yawnsu, shammy, aciil, quackers(on some of their avatars) all stand out because of the excellent way UTS keeps the colours vibrant whilst blending smooth shading and shadows and having a great rim light. It also handles transparency perfectly.
I have it on a few of my avatars but like hell am I setting it up every time I have a costume swap.
UTS is the undisputed king of looking good.
Mtoon is the king of looking good and ease of use.
