Whether or not you can achieve all of the effects that you want on a one material model is highly dependant on how much of a snowflake you need to be. Most people with atlases have two materials so they don't have to put the body on a transparent material, which can cause some issues.

Unique materials should represent completely different usage of shaders/properties that isn't simply possible by applying texture maps. But anything that has the same material properties+shader but has a different texture should be atlased into the same material. So maybe something needs to be reflective/use standard shader, like metallics, or you want skin to use a different colour shadow ramp for your toon shader, and etc.. Those are valid use cases for more than one unique material. There's a lot you can do with texture maps though (like emission and the such), given your shader supports that.

Anyone else getting microstutter in VR games in the last few weeks? I can't pin down why it's happening, as I've rolled back the graphics driver a few versions and it still happens. even unchecked "Power" monitoring in MSI afterburner, etc. About every 15-20 sec it stutters hard and I lose tracking. In vrchat it stutters like it's loading in an avatar so it's still mostly playable but in Onward it's damn near unplayable with how hard it stutters. Did SteamVR/Oculus push a shitty update that re-enabled some bullshit or something?

These were originally done in VRchat, but had to be cancelled due to terrible framerate. The dreams of holding a
virtual live concert with more than a hundred (Yes, a 100+.) people were crushed. But not anymore.

It returns harder, better, faster and stronger. Visuals of songs have been improved even further so it's going to be an experience you absolutely do not want to miss.
This will serve as one of the bigger beta tests of Lavender. The main focus being the framerate and the high quality 3D Audio being stable and voice chat scaling to a large number of people effortlessley, along with a few other things.
