Performance-wise is something I don't know about but they will act differently. Dynamic bones makes a bone between the root and the first bone in the chain or something like that. If you have four strands of hair connected to the head bone and make each bone the root of its own dyn bone script, it will only sway around the start of the bone. If you make one script with the head as the root bone then the strands of hair will flex and rotate around the head bone instead of their start point. I do have footage of this but it's from lewding so I won't post it. Try it out and see which looks better (probably more scripts) though that will most likely be more resource intensive.

The only major effect I think it will have is more accurate hand poses. The SteamVR input system treats the bottom three fingers' average as the grip button, but the skeleton poser can accurately represent their position. Any additional functionality added beyond this is going to have to be optional controls, which will have to be gimmicks, or the games must be exclusive to the controller, which I doubt many devs will do.

I only care because it will allow me to switch to a lighthouse only system without having to use the awful Vive controllers.

Most games don't work like that. It would have to have 100% enabled physics and perfect collision. Touch controllers already do this and the only game it matters in is Echo, and even then it doesn't matter how hard you're holding the controller. right I assumed that if it works without leapmotion and it's capactive, that it basically has the entire contact shape of your hand on the grip. The reset being an assumption though, means the range of gestures isn't as large as people would think. Definitely not as much as leapmotion but I prefer less jank.
One huge problem will be sweat though. I sweat excessively and the dildo controllers get stuck on one input when a bead of sweat collects on the thumb pads. I can just flick it off with a few swipes but if it's all built into the grip, it will basically get stuck shut after less than an hour playing. At least for me.

First, a bit of background - Unity has a system in place for Shaders called "Keywords."
Keywords are used for Compile-time branching, which basically means that they can be used to cut code out of the shader that gets loaded, based on what options are selected on the material. Sounds great, right? Well, not so much, at least, not in VRChat's case.

These are stored in a global list that is limited to 256, Unity uses about 60 or so of these internally, plus more for things like Post Processing Stack v1 & v2.

When you encounter a material that has a new keyword in game, it gets added to your local list of 256. Once that list fills up (which happens faster than you think), shaders can and will start breaking. Some in subtle ways, and others in more obvious "Why My Shader Pink?" ways (Depends on how it's written).

The real problem is - Unity currently has no way to clear that global array. You have to restart the client to clear it. This is a shortcoming of Unity's Keyword system, but no worries, most popular shader creators have been hard at work, and moved to using uniform branching in their shaders, as opposed to keywords.

However, the issue still does partly remain. Any material that had an old shader with keywords on it, will retain those keywords.

ScruffyRuffles however has been very hard at work developing an easy to use tool to get rid of keywords on your avatar, doing this will make sure that you aren't the cause of other people's shaders breaking, and will overall be a benefit to the community as a whole!

Man, I remember when we were all expecting CV1 to be kind of low cost and for VR to be some affordable thing. Dev kits were relatively cheap. But then it happened, and it wasn't cheap, and VR became a high-end niche even among casual gaming PC owners. It wasn't supposed to be like this. But at least now we've gotten to the point of affordability and also convenience which we kind of traded off for tracking but now don't necessarily have to. Gen 2 is still too far away to do, and gen 1.5 is still hard to do at a sensible price point. We'll get those things but it'll take time.
