I think you have to hit the.. B button (on touch controller) to cycle which is active? And to touch tiddy, you have to be in some _different_ mode than the menu manipulation.

I played vrchat with the 3rd person thing for a couple of months before I even tried getting back into pavlov. After that I just fucking slammed that mother fucking smooth locomotion and stopped whenever I felt sick. Sarento wasn't as bad as I thought it would be sickness wise but I would almost fall over forward compensating for the momentum that wasn't there. Took in total about 1 month until I stopped noticing it and about 4 months before I became completely immune.

Onward gets stale too fast due to lack of variety. The weapons all feel the same due to the low TTK, lack of recoil, and generous point system. It's basically a choice of semi-auto, select-fire, belt-fed, or bolt-action. Shotguns are a complete meme. Gadgets are memes. Uplink sucks because it ends without warning. Escort is a meme. Uplink Assault would probably devolve into spawn camping strategies if we played it enough.

Only the Vive is officially supported, and game compatibility doesn't look great. The anons here who talked about using Linux a while ago were doing GPU passthrough to a Windows VM for VR instead.

You can always just dual boot for now if you really want to try it out though.

Im using unraid and a have an windows VM on that which I run VR in.
A 1070 with passthru and 4/8 of my 8/16 Ryzen 7.
It works really great and setup was easy. Only problem is Unraid is not "free" per se. But if your like me and is also running a server it's worth it.
Personally, Im used to debian with i3 so Unraid's web ui felt almost too casual. But it's really user friendly, and you can do a 30 day trial before you buy it.
Running a VM like this is possible on any Linux dist, but a bit harder to setup. Just make sure your cpu and mobo supports virtualization.

Im probably gonna add another 2x16GB ram before Index drops, since that is my bottleneck.
But if you can afford Ryzen 7and 16 gb ram, that will make a damn fine server for running a VM.
Else, running windows on metal is the "cheap" solution, or if you have no need for a home server.
Mine is pretty much a plex/seedbox since I have 500/500 unlimited. And loads of storage is always good for anime and blender projects.

I have recently acquired a VR headset and have some potentially dumb questions:

- Can I change the resolution of the headset? If yes, how can I ensure the highest res is set?

- Where do I turn on supersampling I read about so much? At least in Assetto Corsa I didn't find any SS options.

- Is there an idiot proof way to get the maximum sharpness from the lenses (i.e. calibration normals or something like that)? Basically between nearest and almost far out I don't see much difference, just when I have them too far away it looks like my astigmatism on petroleum jelly.

- Are "actual" VR games worth the money already? I tried out Subnautica, but steering/scwimming where I look feels awkward and apart from that I have only used it in simulations (which is awesome, by the way).

- How do VR videos on VLC work? I can open them and play them, sure, but how to I get the video frame into my glasses? I am still using the Windows app, but I want to avoid the cliff house altogether.

Does anyone have a gun model with iron sights that I can use as the controller model for a Vive?

I tried putting one in myself, but the best I managed was a glitchy gun with fucked up vive controller textures incorrectly mapped to it, as well as the slide being missing for no discernable reason.

Does Valve have some kind of rules against putting scary things like guns on the workshop or something? Seems crazy that this isn't easily available.

Distance doesn't make a difference, it's IPD and vertical angle.

Supersampling only does so much, you've still got pixels all close to your face.
Supersampling is done via the SteamVR settings (though there are more controls for that if you get that "Advanced Settings" thing that ties into the experience. For Oculus, they have their own supersampling settings in their program.
There's alternative lenses you can get for the headsets that might help with some of the sweet-spot size, but ultimately, this is what VR is at the moment.

VR Dungeon Knight is okay, for an early access 1dev thing. You get stats and weapons and potions and all that, and some randomly generated dungeons and boss monsters. the combat is a little weak and flaily though, and the dungeons get boring. There is also 2 player coop though, kinda cool.

karnage chronicles is a really graphically polished, but short and untuned gameplay-wise. It has some rpg elements like an item shop, but it still feels like a demo for a full game soon™. up to 4 player coop.

I've never played it, but In Death is an archery roguelike if that sounds appealing.

Skyrim VR is still probably your best bet for RPG + VR at the moment, if you haven't exhausted every bit of joy from that 8 year old game already.

A friend is someone you enjoy spending time with, you don't necessarily need to speak to them with words but you do need to communicate and speaking is the best way. You're talking now through text, you can communicate but for some reason your brain is holding you back in certain situations. I eventually began speaking and socialising after spending the entire 17 years of my life with no true friends, it was incredibally difficult and took me ages to get used to it but time is running out in this finite life and I decided to say fuck you to my messed up mind, I want to live. I didn't go up to people and talk to them at first and still don't for the most part, I just shoved myself into a circle of people like a weirdo at school and hung around them until they started talking to me which over a few month's eventually rose me to an ability of socialization I could see myself integrated with the normies.
In VR shoving yourself into a circle of people is way easier since no one gives a fuck, people will communicate with you if you stick around eventually. You just need to respond even if you're mute, if you can't respond they have no reason to talk to you. It's difficult at first but there is literally nothing else you can do, socialising is socialising, you can't be social and not social at the same time, you need to actually go and interact with people if you hope to make friends. It's not something I ever really wanted to accept at first because I had no idea how and was scared but the world as you clearly already know isn't fair, you just need to learn to fight against the cruelty of reality and strengthen your willpower.

How about you try to build it up like any other skill instead of writing off anyone who trained their social skills up as a normalfag?
Eventually you will get the hang of it and then you have to unlearn the social skills you learned for small talk and have to relearn how to be genuine, or you can just skip all that and have genuine conversation with other human beings
It really is as simple as a game of pong, you might not have a pleasant conversation but you'll learn to be fine with mundane conversations only by forcing yourself into those situations until you get used to it
Practice in public maps by having conversations with complete strangers, you can have a nice chat with strangers about whatever, talk about their avatar or listen in on topic and chime in when you have something to add to it
Don't hijack conversations though or you'll learn fast that people don't appreciate that, stay within the topic given until the topic dries out and then pitch a loosely connected topic if no one else comes up with anything
You can't expect to be good at social stuff if you never practice that, i used to have difficulty socializing with people but i kept at it until eventually i became tolerable company, from there i wanted to be enjoyable company and kept at it until i could hide my power level
