I tested out the GriefProtection mod which gives you a claims system, it seems pretty solid. Gives you a little protected plot of land around your first chest, and a points system to expand your claims. For PvP I think I'll try to limit it to certain zones with worldguard so people that want in can go off and kill eachother.

Solid updates came with the latest Onward update, including virtual stock and new prone/crawling animations. Only downside to it really is the lighting on a couple maps is off but generally all the textures on the maps look a lot nicer and there were a lot of neat additions to the details.

I've never gotten that far because I only play on one-hit or human. I think purchasable body armour would be a good solution. Late game you could wear level 4 plates and full face helmet to provide some survivability against stronger weapons without feeling like a bullet sponge against pistol caliber early on. Thread vs discord drama is stupid. Threadposters should know it achieves literally nothing except making the thread worse. I'm sure some of you will argue that it's discordniggers actively trying to shit up the thread, and there are reasonably provable cases of that happening, but the best thing you can do in those situations is report&ignore.

Having people for newfags to join on is, sadly, controversial. There are people in vrg who want it to go back to the good old days and want all the newfags (anyone who hasn't been here X years) to fuck off. Guess that's an irreconcilable difference, as a lot of us quite like the expanding community.

Having a list of people to join on is contentious for other reasons too - having a list of people who WANT to be on it attracts a certain type of people. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is up for debate. On the other hand, listing regulars isn't exactly ideal either. I know several of the people on that recent list -won't- accept random friend requests and would rather not be on lists like that. A compromise needs to be struck between an Official, Endorsed Anchor List and people randomly posting their friends list.

they technically have just as many. The controllers ARE based on xbox and steam controller. Here's how the inputs were set up in the early days, since the xbox/steam controller was what we used with the dk1.

Think of it this way. R2 and L2 are the trigger buttons complete with posisitional input across an axis.
Dual joysticks/Touch Zone/Dpad were the vive trackpads (just like on the steam controller).
The grip button is/was the grip button on the back of the steam controller, the one you grab with your bottom ring and pinky. That's why they were the way they are.

The joystick they just brought back to the controller is the same as left analog joy and right analog joy on xbox controller complete with the click down for them.
There are four "buttons" which correspond to abxy on your standard two handed controller.

Now, they've ADDED a proper "grip" with force, and also added analog potential to R1 and L1, essentially, with middle finger position sensors, and they STILL have the trackpad, though it's shape has changed. Plus they added detective capacitance to all the buttons like Oculus Touch has.
Technically speaking, Touch controllers can absolutely easily emulate a snes controller, triggers for L and R and abxy is two buttons and the top and bottom region of the touchpad, and the a/b buttons on the right controller, though it makes more sense to set the left ab buttons those to start/select. Either way, it's totally fine.
Emulating an xbox controller or dualshock is even easier considering you can have your middle finger be l2/r2.
