Sorry to disappoint, But Stormland isn't close to AW in depth and polish. The mechanics are incredibly fun but the sorry is short and then it's just you and the open word that mixes up every week to kind of keep things fresh. They throw side missions at you randomly that are pretty simplistic and dull. If anything just an excuse to go somewhere and get a reward. After you unlock a bunch of stiff you become extremely OP even at max escalation and it's very easy to cheese you way through enemies.

What makes the difference if you enjoy the mechanics and are creative enough with them to make you own fun like B&S. If you can't discipline yourself to not go for the "I win button" you will get bored.

Oculus inside-out tracking uses gyroscopes to track your hands, which is why it can track them for a while despite them going outside of the view of the cameras.
The problem is when they're outside that view for an extended period or held stationary outside that view.
It's not like your hands just fucking vanish when they move beyond your neck.

That's how all headsets work, it's just that some have better IMUs (combination of gyroscope, magnetometer, and accelerometer) and algorithms to handle what happens when the secondary frame of reference (cameras, LH, etc) has been lost. And some may have more reliable secondary references that cover a larger volume (as is the case when comparing 2 camera WMR to 5 camera Rift S), therefore reducing the amount of time that one is likely to spend in a state of IMU-only data.

That's because there are games which will only run on it, not because there are games it can't run.
It is fully SteamVR/OpenVR/whatever compatible.

As far as I am aware it does need the Oculus home software running but SteamVR/OtherSDKs just layers over the top of it, there's no performance issues that i've seen reported anywhere.
I have a vague memory of there being some software around that can let it work without Oculus software running, or at least minimizes the oculus software footprint heavily but I can't remember what it was called, sorry.

Oh and if you're wondering, you do not need to connect it to a facebook account.

If you're worried about cash then one of the cheaper WMR headsets. If you've got a little more cash to spread around then almost certainly a Quest. It gives you access to fully wireless play in native Quest mode (This is it's own environment/store and runs different applications/games to desktop VR, though many titles are copied across) and also optionally the choice to connect it to a capable desktop computer or laptop and use it as a fully-fledged PCVR device, with access to all the normal PCVR stores. Measured IPD is not a reliable way to predict if the headset will work for you, if you are on the edge. That is because of variances in the measurement but also because other factors like facial structure and astigmatism. If your IPD is measured and it's on the edge, the only way to know for sure is to try the headset and return it if you find that you can't get your eyes in the sweet spot of the lenses very well.

Also, my anecdotal observations also confirm that there are people with very high or very low IPDs that can somehow use the headset, while some with IPDs close to the mean couldn't tolerate it. So it's very much dependent on the individual.

Those who got their eyes closer to the lenses by using a thinner facial foam perceived a very slight improvement in FOV when moving to Index. It's probably a dodgy connection, either on the PC end or the Quest end, movement could be making it disconnect. Could be a little break somewhere inside the cable itself too.

What you should do first is try another cable and another USB3 or USB3.1 socket on your PC.

Oh and also, if you get it working, see about securing the cable on the Quest end with a piece of velcro or something, just to take strain off the socket.

It is beyond regular chat rooms and voice calls, because you can look the people you're talking to in the eyes and that really sells it. The games and other things aren't what the "game" is built around, but they're good enough to be fun for a little while. It is also possibly the largest tavern known to man, with more drunk people inside it than any bar on the planet right now, and the drinks are as expensive or as cheap as your poison of choice at the liquor store. It's done a great job training my autist self to be at least sociable, and good thing too, because I've no other real outlets for social interaction. In the end, the time you spend on VRChat will be as good as the people you spend it with, plus or minus how you enjoy the worlds people create. There's some good people in public worlds. Takes hours to find them, but they exist. If you don't want to bother with that search, the /vrg/ meetup is friendlier in the VRflesh than the thread would have you believe. If nothing else, it's free and little good reason to not give it a shot.

Thanks for participating, CTF experience depends on the map, but overall I thought it's pretty fun, and maybe better suited for 10+ players than Search and Destroy, due to relaxed nature and not having to rely on the broken scoreboards for info.

Swords has more story but the combat in gargantua is a lot more janky compared to until you fall.

Great game to grind out some levels in and get a workout too. You feel pretty badass playing it.

And not just that, 6DOF sim rigs are hella amazing. Rift S in a warehouse might give you walking realism, but 6DOF sim rigs give you vehicle realism. It actually feels like you're driving a car. And it can be even more insane if you're piloting some sort of aircraft. I've also tried a demo with a mecha, and you can feel every footstep you're taking in the giant robo.
