Question for htc vive users. So I use the vive wands as controllers and I notice that gestures are all bound to each face side of the trackpad, so if I slide my thumb on the bottom I get a gesture, slide on the left get another, etc. This is very convenient since it allows fast switching of expressions, but the problem is I also MOVE with the trackpad since it's the default way to use locomotion, so what happens is as I move around it's also changing my expressions as I go. This is really annoying, what's the best way to fix this? I still want to use the trackpads to move because teleporting is shit but I don't want to lose gestures

Bad frame-rates/latency will jack you up. Also if there's a lag between your hands and actions. Some games use differed rendering and don't hit the frames, and therefore feel "floaty".
UE4 is differed by default.

might just be the placement on your face, the quest uses fixed foviated rendering on the edges of the lenses where the fidelity ain't so great anyway in some applications to reduce the load needed.
Using quest-link introduces video artifacts and motion compensation/smoothing, but removes the fixed foviated rendering.

I got a Valve index and I like it, but the earpieces keep on slipping around. I have no idea what Valve was thinking, they slip up and down way too easily. Shapekeys are vertex modifications that can be applied dynamically; it's how visemes and emotes work in vrchat, all the sliders in koikatu/cm3d, etc. In blender, you can apply the shapekeys in mesh object's data properties tab. Just drag the sliders for each shapekey and the mesh will change in realtime. You can also change them in unity, which may be easier (since you have all the shaders you want as well). Half Life Alyx honestly might be the best game I've played in years even outside of VR. It's the first time in a long time that I've fully enjoyed a game from start to finish and been completely satisfied with the whole thing

It's a shame the firefights are so brief. Do like the survival horror sequel during the beginning when ammo is scarce but when combine start popping in, I was hopping for larger numbers (and more ammo all over)
