It's something that's been pretty much what every single board outside of videogames is okay with/supports since the conception. Reporting shit is either trying to get to heaven by being a no-fun-allowed shithead or simply not wanting other people to have fun. The models in question are all designed for use in VRchat which while not a videogame is VR and is a good tool just to have for those starting out.

How does VR work as a replacement for traditional mouse/keyboard/monitor setup? I ask because I'm getting a new PC with my own money and then I'm gonna get an Index with my turmpbux. I also wanted to get a 1440p 144Hz monitor as well but then figured I'd already have two of those which fit directly onto my eyeballs.

The ideal would be an Alternate Reality experience, utilizing the cameras in the Index in conjunction with a mouse and keyboard, coupled with a virtual screen.

I've looked into VR Desktop. Do you need as many physical screens as you can display in VR?

VR isn't there yet as a desktop replacement. Even on the index, the pixel density is about half of a 1440p 27" monitor at 30cm from your face, so reading text is blurry. The passthough cameras on the index are even worse, you won't be able to read anything in passthrough mode.

That being said, for watching videos, VR is pretty comfy and cheaper than an actual giant TV or projector. You can also lay down and have a giant virtual screen right above your head.

clarity up close is only limited by the pixel configuration of your own vr screen. in a vr environment things tend to become more pixelated or fuzzy looking the farther away they get. an optimal virtual screen in a vr world is large enough to fill your field of view while also being far enough away for a group to watch without obscuring other peoples view and close enough to read text (usually subtitles) without it being pixelated.

VR headsets are 1440p LCD screens that are optically projected to about 2 meters from your face. Furthermore, since they're flat screens, angular pixel density decreases in the periphery. http://doc-ok.org/?p=1677 has some good discussion on how it works.

As such, if you can imagine a giant 1440p screen 2 meters from you (or if you have a projector), that's what you're going to get. I'm new to headsets though but damn I'm starting to think I should sell my Rift S while they are out of stock right now and save towards the Index.

The best way to make sure they're successful is to hype them up and get people excited about them. You don't really need to use discord to do so but it is helpful to do so.

The index is a nicer headset for sure, especially if you're not in the ideal IPD range for rift S. The knuckles controllers are definitely worse though. The finger tracking is an unreliable gimmick, not futureproof at all. The base stations don't need USB ports though, just wall power. Lighthouse tracking is pretty good overall.

It's probably worth the upgrade for yourself if you can actually get one, but I wouldn't sell your rift S until you have one shipped. You can at least play VR games in the meantime.

The current versions of Knuckles have enough QC issues to not be futureproof, and I don't think Valve is much better than Oculus as far as support goes. Base stations aren't connected by USB, so you don't have to worry about that, although there is more setup involved than the Rift S.

Having some difficulty getting new clothes on my vr chat avatar. Right now the clothes just won't "stick" to my model and won't react when I try to pose my model. Does transferring weight paints not work anymore? this is what I'm doing right now

Sounds like the shirt's vertex groups aren't set correctly. Just as a test, can you select some of the vertices of the shirt in edit mode, click on some random vertex group, click Assign (to put them all at 100%), and see if that at least attaches the shirt to whatever bone that was?

that's really the problem, my original post wrote out pretty much all that I did but that's what happens is that it's not transferring weights for whatever reason. It joins just fine and the vertex groups are there and share names with the bones, but when I highlight both meshes (the shirt with vertexes and the body that already has weight paint) it doesn't allow me to transfer the weight paint, or I'm probably transferring it incorrectly though it seems straight forward

Try to find a guide as I can't help right now. But I remember that the options you click and select are very VERY important to succesful weight transfer. There's like two drop down box and a checkbox fuck that shit it's really annoying and I always google it again when I need to weight transfer.

I think I have a working object shuffler in udon that syncs across clients properly. the shuffle itself is way more straightforward than anything in animation state hacks, but the sync and broadcast behavior in udon is awkward. Here the cube interact() on the master (bottom right) shuffles and sets the `tileno` int on each individual udon component, where setting public variables is implicitly master (owner) only. Then the sphere interact() actually resets the material on each tile to match its `tileno`, but only locally, so each player has to do it. In theory, the tiles could reset the material on Update() every frame to avoid the extra trigger, but that's probably expensive.

https://github.com/Merlin-san/UdonSharp is much much better than the node graph bullshit at least. Finally feels like a reasonably sane scripting environment, albeit still without good documentation on what you can and can't do.

The korean map works with material swaps and it's why it desyncs I'm pretty sure tanki moves the actual tiles around, I know the shitty 2D card map moves actual cards around, because if you touch them it breaks shuffling and tanki doesn't let you touch during shuffling.

Also, UdonSharp is actually usable? I thought it was still just proof of concept garbage. Supposedly lots of udon is still broken currently, but I doubt that matters for mahjong which is just Ron Kon Pon Chi buttons and a shuffling mechanic with moveable tiles that spawn in a certain order, it should be relatively simple to mock up in Udon sharp desu far, far simpler than trigger autism

I'm writing really simple scripts, but so far UdonSharp is good. Recompiles automatically on file save, and I haven't run into any bugs with the compiler itself. Yeah, I think for a pure tile shuffle and arrangement, udon should work well enough as is, though I'm sure I'll run into some odd corner case. I don't know about hand sorting though; I have no idea how old tanki managed to do it in triggers/UI events. No sync video players in udon either unfortunately.

This means your method would just be code that "knows" "1" is X Y Z position on the table, and then since tiles are a fixed width and you only need it to the next spot, you'd just do row 1+tile width and then for the next draw row
it'd be row2+tile width etc. etc.
you should draw up a flow chart for how you expect it to work
