the guy on the left is pretty much right at the limit of the upper range, the top camera on the rift-s is superior for that. reading small things from a distance can be difficult, but you can find a sweet spot without sticking your face right into the the panel. i don't have much experience with reading control instruments in vr

So I'm looking at getting into avatar creation, but wanted to ask, with this new Avatar 3.0 system on the horizon for vrchat, will I be dealing with a lot of relearning things once that comes out? I currently know next to nothing about the process, just wondering if I should save time and energy by waiting until the new system comes out to start learning how to make my own avatars.

How do I make a dynamic bone script work with my tail? right now the tail consists of 5 total bones with bone 0 being the start and 5 the tip.

I set up a dynamic bone with root set as tail_0 but it doesn't actually do anything? could use some help here. I did the same process to each of my ears and those worked fine, not sure why the tail won't move

I actually figured it out in between that time. I had neglected to set the radius. It works now, though I do have a follow up question. Outside of Hot Squat and Beat Saber, are there any other VR games that can make you feel like you've had a decent work out?

Simple question: When I create an instance of a world, I can kick people right? Without a vote? Because I don't see that option. I'm using a VR headset. I just want to make public rooms but kick out assholes. I want to meet new people but root out absolute cunts. It sucks that I can't directly (seemingly) kick people and ban them, but have to go through a voting process that might take too long or the person brings a posse with them which now makes them unkickable. A bit confused. I have a bone parented to my neck bone which is supposed to control my collar (it's actually a small bell on the collar that it controls). I weight painted it and when I move the new collar bone it correctly moves the bell. However when I set up a dynamic bone script and select the collar bone as the root...just nothing happens? I go into game mode, move my avatar around, move the neck, etc and the bell only moves static frozen in place, the dynamic bone is not working on it? confused..

It's not a very good VR game. It didn't even support locomotion when it came out and still didn't have smooth turning the day I played it. It's relatively short and a bitch to make run smoothly because of how detailed the environments are. But if your locale's decimal separator is a comma instead of a period, then float.Parse will use that, and the parse fails and returns 0 by default, and all the tiles stay as 1 pei. programming is cool.

Now using int.Parse(gameObject.name.Substring(0,2)) as another dumb hack. give it a try when you get a chance, hopefully it'll finally work now.

It's pretty clear it was made with people relatively new to VR in mind, not snobby veterans who each have their own list of things that they're particular about.
It's also pretty clear it had a much longer development cycle than the average VR game, which is made by a guy living in his mom's basement. I think that some of the outdated mechanics were a product of that as well.

Despite the fact that you are able to find faults in it, it's a good game and it's fun. It also uses VR in some pretty neat ways.

It was good fun and I was glad to see several people joining for the first time. Stick with it most of the really fun maps start to be available to you when you can begin to clear expert rank. Also makes for a fun way to get some cardio in while quarantined.

Why do you need to wait for straps? You can literally attach them to your shoes by hooking a shoelace loop around each of the three corners. The bottoms of the pucks also have a 1/4 inch bolt thread like a camera and that size fits through most belt holes, as long as you have a short bolt of the matching size (50 cents from any hardware store), so there's your hips too. I believe that overall, any formal group system is a bigger source of fighting than any informal one.
The good thing about a formal system of groups is that it gives clearly defined rules for who belongs and who doesn't. That could take away some of the insecurities from some people who always feel like they are not part of the group, but at the same time it also clearly will highlight who is not part of the group based on some arbitrary criterion like whether the guild leader likes you and lets you in, or you click that "join group" button. And once someone joins or isn't allowed to join, or, god forbid, is kicked, the complaining escalates. "Why isn't my friend allowed to join but THAT guy is?" "What the fuck did you say about me, you little bitch? I'll have you know, I graduated..."
It gives a lot of decision power into the hands of whoever makes or manages the group/guild/tag, and from that resentment springs forth. The opposite would be a problem, too, people being treated disproportionally nicely because of their official role in the group.
It makes people hate others just based on the vice of them being part of group X, and it makes those groups fight openly. Imagine the cringe gangwars, where people shoot each other with crashers to fight over virtual turf.

Each comes with its own dongle. It's wasteful because they use barely any USB bandwidth, and you can connect them all through the same USB port without problems with any USB adapter. You have to use the cradles they come with to get them sufficiently far apart or they will interfere unless you get lucky with the firmware channels they're using.
