The corners are great but it requires some insane Laplace projecting mathematics to do properly as the cameras are looking at a non-standard cartesian plane.
In essence it's simple and should just be all about translation of the position into a consistent single world cartesian coordinate for all the 4 cameras.

We still log in almost everyday but there's literally just a handful of us and even within SEA there is massive variance on when people login now.

Even back then most of the friends I made in SEA were actually Early EU.
But then they started logging in less and less.

Lots of the Earlier SEA prefer hanging out with the drinking part of the Late NA. Somehow or another there is also almost no NEET SEA so we have a very strict login schedule timespan available for us.

And even a variance of 2 hrs between timezone will mean someone logging in at a respectable 10 PM time will see some other SEAperson log off at 12midnight from their end to prepare for their next day's work

They could patch it in theory since it's all "just software", but it's questionable whether microsoft and HP will actually do it. I'd say if you're counting on better hand tracking patches to make the games you want to play playable, then you're going to want to return it and scrounge up the extra $400 for an index. If you're enjoying the high resolution screen in seated sims or virtual desktop or whatever with the hand tracking as an annoyance, then you should keep it, or of course sell the headset to somebody in this situation.

I disagree. I'd say from around 2017-late 2019 the game got worse performance wise, but the past year or so it's slowly been improving and the game is definitely a lot more optimized than it was back in say 2018.

That all being said though this game still kinda runs like dogshit and the fact I can't even get 144fps a lot of times in an instance all by myself is pretty fucking bad considering I have an overclocked i9. I can get it in basic worlds, otherwise it's cut in half and only goes up to 72.

Every weekend NA meetup is still like ~20 fps though no matter what just because of the sheer amount of people there. Multiple years later and this game still is unable to support instances of 30+ people with anywhere near an acceptable frame rate. Instead, they just blame users and map makers for being "unoptimized". While this is true that unoptimized avatars and worlds (especially worlds) can bring your FPS down, it's definitely not the main cause. If I block everyone's avatar in a like a 50 person meetup, and we're in an optimized map, and I only gain maybe 20fps, that's still pathetic and indicative that user created content is not the biggest issue like the devs and Tupper keep saying it is. If I have an overclocked i9 and I'm still only getting 40-45fps in a 50 person instance where EVERYONE is avatar blocked, that is pathetic, and I can't even imagine how bad it is for people with not as good CPUs.

The game is fundamentally shit at optimization, and this is obvious to anyone who has ever been to CVR or Lavender. We used to have those once a month dance Lavender meetups or whatever where we'd have around at least a solid 20 people, and would go into concert instances with a bunch of lights and effects shit, and I'd still be getting close to 90fps.

They do claim that god rays are almost gone though, which iirc the headset does have some sort of lens design improvement (even over the index) for that. Laymen explanation with limited understanding, but shaders are programs that can be run on GPUs instead of CPUs. Since GPUs can run lots of these programs at once, you can process lots of pixels quickly. The trade off is that GPUs aren't as flexible as CPUs.
Because of this limitation, it's a lot easier and to write and faster to run a specific shader for each material than a generalized shader that can render every material you want to use, the way you want to display it.
One of the things that GPUs do much worse is branching. If a single thread in a GPU gets given an instruction like "if (x)", it's flexible enough to determine what x is and only calculate the result of that if statement with that variable. GPUs are bad at this. They tend to go "Ok, what's the range of x? It can be 1-10? Ok, I'll work out the result of if(1), if(2), if(3), if(4) etc" and only then determine what x actually was.
Why not make GPUs more flexible? Because then the GPU cores would require more transistors, and that runs into size, power and heat limitations. That's why a CPU might have 8 cores, while a GPU could have 2000+ "cores" (shader processors).

Yes, the original RE4. Facebook paying for it I guess, and the game is old enough that a toaster system like the Quest 1 can run it no prob, even though the textures in that game are grungy as fuck. Really do hope it includes some texture touch-ups at least on some interior sections.
