lol okay maebbie quick to the draw on making the thread
The endless cycle of games going to shit due to greedy/sellout devs and new games taking their places goes on. Thank goodness that avatars and worlds and the like are just easily portable unity projects.
>>314392842 (OP)
OP is a baka
Previous thread here: 314282186
>>314393131
>game is completely free for years
>people constantly asking how to support the devs to keep their favorite online social space going
>devs offer a banal harmless subscription that gets you nothing of value and doesn't rob free players of anything
Yes anon, this is the epitome of greed. You should lead us all into being outraged.
>>314393131
>greedy/sellout devs
They can't coast on HTC money forever. Everything you had is still free. Still gonna bully iconfags though.
>>314393237
Fuck I am an idiot too

>>314393131
>spend literally 3000 hours in VRC
>here is an optional way to pay
>FUCKING RUINED
You're not going to buy VRChat Plus, are you anon?
>>314393429
Does VAM have less uncanny valley looking models?
>>314393108
i knew i had to come here when i saw vrchat cashing out. I did not make the thread though
>>314393570
I'm more worried about pic related leading to everything being paywalled and ads thrown in your face ruining the spirit of VRChat than anything. VRChat+ is barely anything, though I would have preferred to paying $30 up front once rather than a sub fee, especially given that the game is early access.
>>314393293
>>314393340
>>314393393
Maybe if they actually fixed the game, people wouldn't bitch so much about it
>>314393206 (Cross-thread)
oasis VR's voice was almost totally broken when I tried it a few weeks ago, but it did have a lot more (desktoppers) in it than shillout. And working dynamic bones too fwiw. Shillout was less broken overall than oasis, but I still agree it's not worth trying until they fix their stability issues and add some more interesting maps and portals/avatar pedestals. Unless of course your killer feature is touching booba, in which case you can probably put up with the rest of the jank just for that.
>>314393747
i agree, I prefer one time too. They made their intentions clear with today's announcement. Once everyone is on CVR, i shall seek out the next game to support with the cycle renewed
>>314393808
They fix it constantly, the problem being that they're always fixing the shit that they break trying to do anything new.
Thanks for the data so far, I'll photoshop in those that asked to be included with an update soon. Here's a no namedrop version.
>>314394002
networking is fixed and stable: >>314393391 (Cross-thread)
public avatars next update, pedestals and portals this or the one next week
it is open alpha and the devs actually mean it when they say it, so expect no early access shenanigans, once it is out of alpha/beta
>>314393747
>>314394034
VRchat+ is obviously just a donation option with useless perks that don't matter.
Hopefully whatever real monetization is a profit-splitting mechanism to allow creators to sell things to players.
>>314392067 (Cross-thread)
wait so cvr makes you pay for more than 10 uploads while vrchat has unlimited for free?
>>314393546
>booths but extremely high quality
>>314393747
I think the vrchat plus subscription is pretty harmless, and I hope it works for their cashflow. It's basically the same as a patreon with light in-game perks, which seems to work for other games.
I do think the paywall shit will kill the game depending on how they go about it though. Hopefully it won't be for another few years. As much as I like that booth has injected some good professional models into the ecosystem, I feel like a heavyhanded cash shop and paywalls will dampen creativity overall rather than bolster it.
>>314394291
yes
>>314393808
It's amazing
>Game is busted in several places and generally rough around the corners but could improve
>Instead developers focusing on monetizing the game by adding a subscription fee and working towards adding microtransactions
I'm not necessarily talking about VRChat either. I thought that they would wait until early access was done at least for them to start asking for money.
>>314394291
>>314394284
>>314393393
>>314393340
>>314393293
how much do they pay you to suck their dick?
>>314394429
>>314394518
sounds more important than favorite slots to me.
>>314394482
Their priorities do seem fucked, but maybe the extra cashflow can pay for another dev for them. I wonder how transparent they'll be about how many active subscriptions they get.
>>314394574
So why isn't it unlimited from the start
>>314394149
Remember when they broke animations when they fixed friends list bug? Imagine what would happen if they tried to fix camera controls being hard to use.
>>314394518
Idk, how much do you value your time and how much time have you sunk into VRchat for free?
>>314394574
if you get to the point where you need more than 10 upload slots, paying the 8 dollar fee once is justified i think. You would have spend lots of time by then.
Are more players and the 10 slots the only 2 arguments you guys have against chill out?
>pay 50$ once for ruby
>has alot of nice features
>emm vrc for the rest + melonloader for free
>>314394792
>if you get to the point where you need more than 10 upload slots, paying the 8 dollar fee once is justified i think. You would have spend lots of time by then.
sure, that sounds reasonable, but It still matters a lot more to me then favorite slots.
>>314394792
If you have 5,000+ hours in vrc, an optional $10 isn't all that much
>>314394975
$10 a month. A sub fee adds up, but a one time fee is reasonable enough. I would honestly be happy to shell out $30 as a one time thing, but a sub fee is dumb.
>optional pay for features that I would never use anyway
or
>pay for important feature that I use constantly
>>314395048
shill alert
>>314395048
Why would anyone pay for this subscription except to willingly donate money to keep VRchat going. I don't get it. Who the fuck needs a picture in their name tag and 100 favorited avatars.
>>314395048
It hasn't come out yet, so it's impossible to say, but buying per month/a year is how it usually goes
>>314391906 (Cross-thread)

>pay for features the other already has
>>314394518
i guess they pay $9.99 a month
the great shill war of vrg, where do i sign up to shill vrc? Do i get free vrchat plus if i do?
>>314394273
when it becomes fully fleshed out and hopefully more alive I'll try it again
maybe if it can ever get on steam too
>>314395318
exactly what i was saying, vrchat is like a premium for non essential features, cvr is a payment for core features that i would need if i played it regularly. i don't think it's an unreasonable payment, but it doesn't give much incentive to switch over.

REMINDER!
The Creed FRIDAY FITE NITE will be held tomorrow starting a little before 9PM EST. Might even do a round robin style tournament depending on participation level.
It's currently on sale in the humble bundle along with several other excellent VR games that you should pick up.
https://www.humblebundle.com/games/fall-vr
I encourage you to attend as there may even be some extra keys floating around for those looking for a fight.
>>314395458
the only "essential" feature is the unlimited upload slots, everything else is more for free. I rather support a platform that cares about its users
>>314395623
Good luck on the fights. Can't make that timing due to work. Hope you guys have lots of bruises and fun!
>>314395679
you'd rather support the platform paying you
>>314395679
Don't get me wrong, I hate vrchat, but uploading content is 90% of it for me, doesn't matter if it's the "only" paywalled feature
>>314395758
>everyone positive about chillout is paid
>>314395706
RIP anon to wagecuckery
I'll gladly kick your butt any other time though just say when.
>>314395941
>just say when
When are you most tired and vulnerable on a saturday?
what's the CVR SDK like? I'm actually pretty happy wtih SDK 3.0 in vrchat so I'm curious what I'll be losing.
for context I've tried neos and wasn't a fan.
>>314395452
steam is coming with the open beta release next month
>>314395801
they have the cap in, cause many free users would reupload the same shit and it would clog up servers and be just overall costly. Imagine a thousand users all having tons of the same nanachi and wolfboy avatars. It hurts actually creators, though very few have more than 10 self-made original avatars. I would imagine the 8 bucks will be worth their while too as they see the polish coming in.
Just log in every other week, see what new stuff is in and assess based on that.
You can also lurk the live playercount here:
https://status.abinteractive.net/
>>314396593
their sdk will feel very familiar, all unity based. Workflow is upgrading to unity 2019, removing vrc sdk, adding cvr sdk (called cck https://cck.cvr.gg/). Set eye level again, click button to auto add visemes, put animaiton overides in if you have, click upload. Will take 15 minutes, most the time is spent waiting for the upgrade loading bar to finish.
>he starts randomly bringing up his health issues at the meetup again
>everyone awkwardly says nothing
>>314396006
It won't help you one bit. Doesn't matter as long as it's during the day NA time.
Nigger shit game go burn in hell VR is dead.
>>314396913
lol the VRchat visemes.
https://youtu.be/pntKOhYvxM8
I'm seeing there's a system for turning on and off accessories which is nice, is there a stand in for the radial puppet type thing?I use those to control body shape(chest/belly/ass size etc.)
Like I assume I could just plug a blendshape into that menu there instead of one of those hue controls?
>>314395623
I might host a pokerstars VR table after the fights if there's enough interest as well.
>>314397495
i am not an avatar guy so i dont know too much about that stuff. But how its being described as is to have blendshapes you can swap into or like animate into or just change sliders of a material using menus or gestures ingame.
Currently you have a thing called avatar states already that when you click it you can change stuff already
For better answers on this i would recommend to straight up ask in their discord, cause the devs read and reply:

I don't see what the problem is. It looks like nothing changes at all for free users.

>in-game version of Booth
where?
>>314397401
Social apps will always be like this, go play VR games.
>>314398507
its not the fact it exists, its the fact they dont do anything for years and now do some 10 dollar monthly sub shit.
What are you donating to? them doing nothing for another 4 years and changing the ui?

their long time future plan is to basically be what booth is

avatar 3.0 broke everything and is a gimmick, udon is just as limited as what they now call legacy. I thought you would get good scripting, but all we got was some wannabe solution

Oh shit dude. I'm going to try this, gonna be very happy if it fixes it seems easy enough. The only thing I notice is that my hip bone is very small, so sizing it up away from the thighs like that video suggests is going to make the bone even tinier, hopefully it won't fuck something up (but I have back up copies incase)

WHERE DO I GET SHILLOUT VR
so is there anything that vr chat+ offers that's actually useful? I don't give a shit about some good goyim badge or a shiny icon on my nametag or whatever. I mean more practical stuff. 25 free slots is more than enough since I just upload my own shit anyways
>>314400981
HTTPS://DEVELOPERS.ABINTERACTIVE.NET/GET-CHILLOUTVR
>>314401336
No, I'd be more receptive to it if there was something substantive to it. They're so slow to add features though it makes it feel completely pointless.
>>314401336
You don't even have to pay for all the "new stuff" so it's basically just a donation
>>314400586
where to get tartagila
>>314401336
Nothing.
Just the hope that they get their shit together and the game gets better due to their new source of income.

>>314401336
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foot-in-the-door_technique
Its a good primer for getting people to add their credit card and get used to paying, while slowly encouraging map makers to monetize and paywall their content
Isn't a subscription model a lot better than microtransactions? How on earth else do you want them to monetize a continually developed game?
>>314393293
>project gets poured funding on in the millions
>devs go full vegas with funding instead of hiring competent people to finish their product
>"i am once again asking for you to make it rain"
If I could get a Lenovo Explorer, or an Odyssey Plus for $58 more, which would be better for a first headset?
What feature would actually sell you on vr chat plus? for me it's actual fucking in-game messaging with voice recognition (so you just speak and it types out your message, no hassling with vr keyboard)
Like anyone on my friend list I can send a PM to before asking to join their world or before I send them an invite or some shit. It'd be so helpful to have in-game communication when not next to the person. Yes trannycord exists but I refuse to add literally every single person I talk with to it just to have a PM machine in the background.
>>314403272
Good thing all the competent people they didn't hire went ahead to make their own successful VR games.
>>314403276
and this is why I'm stuck with used wmr off of eBay
>>314403289
odyssey plus, but both are pretty shit compared to the quest 2 when it comes to inside-out tracking
>>314403391
>put all the weight on ayylien man
>nearly every update is a fiasco because features over functionality
love child projects are cursed
>>314403289
I have an Odyssey+ and it's pretty good for a first headset. The controllers' tracking is meh but that usually only matters in VRChat, in other games I've played it's fine. They tend to slip out of my hands a bit when playing Beat Saber but, overall it's a good headset, no big complaints. No screen door effect as well, if that matters to you.
>>314403445
true, but >>314403276
also, the ones I found are both cheaper than the Quest 2 at my local walmart. I've heard the Rift S is decent, and I found one, but its the same problem as the Quest.
>>314403595
I was thinking about getting vr chat, actually. How does the tracking affect it? Are there any workarounds?
dude's idle animation I drew over while he was afk
>>314393808
I've learned from helping a couple community projects over the years is that people will bitch about your project no matter how much you polish it, and feel entitled to shit on it.
Only perk that'd come from this sub fee is if they use it to actually hire a couple more devs to further polish the game up and make it run better in general, vs. some of the stuff on their Canary tracker that's been unresolved for literally two years.
>>314403926
>people will complain about a broken project when you keep adding "features" over fixing the damn functionality to make it playable without ages old bugs still being in the code
yes that seems like something that would nettle the users no matter which project it happens on
>>314403647
In vrchat the Odyssey+'s controllers just don't have a wide range of movement. If I don't have my controllers in front of my face or chest they won't track at all. I end up looking weird with my hands hanging in front of me all the time. They also sometimes stop registering button presses like on the triggers or control pad until I spam press buttons for a while. It'll still track when that happens, just the buttons don't work. Overall it's just some minor annoyances though, and in other games I don't really have problems with it since I don't usually need that wide range of movement.
>>314404094
Well shit.
i want to know how do you manage to piss away millions in budget without managing to finish the fucking game before running out of funding
>>314404273
To be fair, I think you'll have similar problems with the tracking of any WMR headsets, or anything that doesn't use a base station. The tracking for the controllers just doesn't work if the controllers aren't in front of the headset.
Can't wait for the VRC+ only avatars
>>314404470
i will upload one of those to chill out :^)
>>314394284
>is a profit-splitting mechanism to allow creators to sell things to players.
That would require the devs to integrate an entire avatar customization system within the game, without it murdering its own performance.
Never happening.
>>314404410
and it's either that or selling myself to facebook, huh? (If I want to stay on the 'beginner' side at least)
They look so comfy
>IK still broken on avatars from a couple updates after Av3.0 went live
Cmon already.
>>314404410
>>314404824
If I just admit defeat, is a Rift S worth $300?
If I have a normal social life and a girlfriend do I still benefit from using VRChat?
>>314405549
If you can get a new Rift S for 300 usd it's a very good buy yea, especially since you don't need a facebook account for it.
>>314404364
I know we like to shit on them but I don't think they're so retarded that they'd piss all of it away and THEN monetize. They probably have a bit of it left but want to start supplementing it with the sub.
>>314405613
depends, do you enjoy world exploring and hanging out with other people as anime?
>>314405653
No, it's a used one with a crack in the little hoop on one of the controllers.
I thought I needed a fb account for all oculus devices now?
>>314405613
Do you want a girlfriend(male) instead?
>>314405659
i unironically believe this is their last ditch effort to stay independent from the looming faceberg threat by trying to monetize with some monthly fees like a shitty mmo, only thing they'll do is make their non monthly competition look better
>>314405759
>I thought I needed a fb account for all oculus devices now?
You will for Rift-S in 2023.
>>314405613
it's still a great way to socialize when everything in the real world is locked down.
>>314405759
Oh well fuck that, don't buy a used VR headset lmao. Especially one that's already broken. Just get a WMR if that's all you can afford, they're really not that bad. The Samsung is probably a little better than the Lenovo but they're comparable it looks like.
>>314404838
does this little creep do anything other than sit on people's lap?
>>314406303
what's wrong with sitting on peoples laps?
Speaking of WMR, does anyone use Vive full body tracking with a WMR headset? Does it allow you to get 360 degree controller tracking? And does it work well enough to be worth it?
>>314406380
I'm just picturing some fat 27 year old sitting on a random person's lap.
>>314406696
>picturing men sitting on your lap while you can see anime sitting on your lap
a-anon, how bold!
Who here uses the zuckerberg headsets?
Do you just resign yourselves to the situation or what?
>>314407352
probably not that many, since the jailbreak was a dud (or so i heard) no one will probably waste their money on a overpriced paperweight, faceberg is notorious for their arbitrary crap so getting your headset bricked is only a matter of time
>>314407456
Even if your jailbroke the headset, you'd still have to reverse their software on the PC side of things for Oculus Link, unless you want to resign yourself to Virtual Desktop and the limitations that incurs.
Aight finally ready to roll out.
INTRODUCING
/vrg/ GRAVURE 4 U
Gonna go and look for willing photographers for each timezone.
Requirement is ofcourse you have VRC lens
And we'll have a short talk on how to take amazing kino shots. Think of it as a nice way to learn and improve your KINO as well.
As for those that would be gracious enough to want to participate and have the avatar they have meticulously crafted to be showcased in a compilation,
please fill in this form:
https://forms.gle/HgcCtECoEhQfEcHw5
https://forms.gle/HgcCtECoEhQfEcHw5
Note: Only the event organizer will know who filled out the form
Our friendly photographer will go to the meetup of your choice to get you a very good photographic shot on an appropriate map of your choice or the photographer's prerogative to bring out the best out of your avatar. The holy trinity of Avatar, Pose and Map will manifest in full!
For the photoshopper anon who volunteered before, hope you are still in the thread and are ready for the roll out of stunning pictures ready to be placed with some unique VR advertisements interspersed in between the gravure.
For those who would want to create articles per shot as well, that would be an interesting welcome addition as well.
There would be a strict no name-plate policy and a no nipple/genital exposure.
By default there would be names used in post-production on the showcase picture unless specifically asked to be removed
Event Timing: November 23 to December 4, 2016
Event Address: VRchat meetups

What does /vrg/ use then? I find it hard to believe you all have Indexes (Indices?). Mix of those and random WMR?

>>314408047
most people who have fbt have index or vive i think, there are some other hybrids but the lighthouses from htc / valve are pretty much mandatory for puck tracking so it is just plain easier to go with htc vive or index than anything else to get fbt
>>314408163
cheers, kippis, kanpai, barack obama
>You need a VRChat+ account to join this instance. Read more about how to upgrade here.
>>314408385
How much would you say a new person should pay for a Vive? $300 or so?
>>314408710
>unable to send friend request to this user, please upgrade to vrchat+ to enable friend request to this account
>>314408725
no clue it is outdated tech on par with cv-1 / rift s so the price should have plummeted so you might be able to find it for pretty cheap, slap on top of that a used vive and the price could go for 300 or under
>>314408905
Ah, I see. I take it that wouldn't be a smart choice in 2020.
vive headset and knuckles controllers with lighthouses and fbt pucks would probably be the best combo, the vive controllers (dildo's) are pretty meh but i think you can use knuckles with the vive lighthouses so it should be a viable upgrade
Why is vrchat filled with such trash aesthetics and how to we fix it?
>>314408972
if you're going for budget choice it is very good choice, if you want to get your money's worth go for index (when they have it in stock), only downside to index right now is shortages on how much they can push out and the still a little steep price tag which will eventually drop once new waves of headsets get pushed out for competition, vive and index's strong point is the lighthouses being puck compatible so you don't have to run a hybrid setup or buy separate lighthouses

Lighthouse I kind of get, those are the small cameras/IR sensors you set up to track your movements. But what about the other one?
I asked about the cost as I saw one with controllers, cables, and that little lighthouse thing for about $350 total (tax and shipping) but if you say it's outdated, then I'm not sure how that's going to affect things performance-wise. I'm picturing using a laptop or 90s pc compared to a modern desktop.
>>314409124
>>314409398 (Me)
That is to say, when you say outdated it sounds like the Vive is a 90s PC/Laptop to the Modern Headsets in terms of performance.
>>314409398
https://www.vive.com/us/accessory/vive-tracker/
that's a fbt puck
when i say outdated i mean it's first gen kind of, index is 1.5 gen but still it has improvement to some stuff
there aren't really that revolutionary next gen headsets out yet that aren't ridiculously overpriced and that have features not supported by most or any game
htc vive should be fine for a while at least unless you want the best of the best, for a budget setup it is very ideal since you don't have to buy separate lighthouses to upgrade it for fbt with the tracker pucks
it being outdated just means it isn't the #currentgen anymore which is just a good thing for the price tag
the most common ones to go for seem to be
cv-1 which you should not get anymore due to the cable being a piece of shit
rift-s which is okay but is limited by you needing to get new lighthouses to enable fbt
quest 1 which is okay because it came out before zuckerberg took a steaming pile of shit on oculus (cable enables it to be viable, still requires new lighthouses for fbt)
htc vive, the easiest way to get to fbt due to lighthouses being compatible with the vive trackers (pucks)
index / knuckles, the current stable trademark of quality, the go to for most who want up to date fbt compatible headset with lighthouses, the downside is knuckles controllers being a bit rubbish at times due to them being brittle but the valve customer service is excellent so you can just RMA them and get a new pair if they shit out on you
there are also some WMR headsets out there but most mixed reality headset makers abandoned the regular consumer market and went for corp, make sure it is compatible with vrchat before buying a headset because WMR's are hit or miss in wtf you're going to get
>>314399657
Now we know whoever is new is an attentionwhore who wants to be rated.
>on beer #3 hyping my antisocial self for my first VRChat degenerates meet

>>314409398
These things. They're the smallest SteamVR-tracked object on the market, and thus people strap them to their bodies so they can track them without need of a more complex mocap rig like you'd have at a professional studio.
The OG vive is outdated mainly because it doesn't support 2.0 base stations, meaning you would only be able to get used old-type base stations. As a headset it's reasonably good but outclassed by some WMR in terms of picture quality, though you'd be trading image quality for controller tracking that isn't complete dogshit. The thing is, 'performance' on a headset is NOT the same as performance on a computer, unless you're dumb enough to buy a standalone wonderbrick from Zuccbook, because really they're just a display device with a tracking solution.
>>314410527
M is so cute, bros...
>>314410161
I was gonna get a WMR, but if the original Vive is still a decent first headset then I might as well, since it sounds like a lot of the bits are compatible with the Index (if I ever get one)
>>314410264
If I wanna do like VR chat are the base stations enough? You mention it doesn't support newer ones, but are the two it comes with enough for most things?
Do you recommend any WMR instead, or are the base stations enough of a reason to stick with it? Are the visuals acceptable or does it have the "screen door" I've heard so much about?
>They expect you to pay for bitch basic features that have been around in games for over 20+ years

it's compatible with the fbt tracker pucks, i am unsure if 1.0 lighthouse is compatible with index headset or knuckles controllers
however you are unlikely to buy a index without the lighthouses unless you buy it used for some reason and like i said i am unsure if knuckles works with 1.0 lighthouses that are native to htc vive
still it's much better even if it only supports the fbt tracker pucks than the competition, htc vive is a very decent headset for budget setup the only downside is the vive dildo's
anyone know if you can use knuckles with 1.0 lighthouses or would he have to upgrade to newer lighthouses to be able to use knuckles with htc vive?

We can easily just not pay for it and still get the full functionality of VRchat
Surprised they didn't do both the monthly fee, and "Pay to increase base # of favourites slots". That and doubling down on modded clients.
>>314411117
Sorry Zak, but you're not really interesting to me, maybe when you've developed a personality since you dropped your only one when you started speaking
>>314410639
1.0 base stations are perfectly functional and will do just fine for all VR. Even now, 1.0 base stations have objectively better tracking than inside out camera based controller tracking. There's just a few minor caveats:
1) 1.0 base stations require LOS to one another, or a sync cable between them. (Some users require one anyways. It's just an audio male-to-male cable, though)
2) You can use no more than two 1.0 base stations at a time, which can be a problem for some unusual room geometries or if you take the FBT dive for VRChat, to make sure your cuck pucks have visibility to two base stations at all times.
3) They're no longer made, so there's a fixed quantity. They're cheap now, but they'll run out and get expensive one day.
2.0 devices (Index, blue logo pucks, knuckles, vive pro wands, etc) can read the tracking sweeps from 1.0 base stations; 1.0 devices (OG vive, original dildos, grey logo pucks), however, cannot read tracking sweeps from 2.0 base stations.
>>314411153
>think of it as donating
if i want to donate money to a project or a person i prefer to do it directly instead of some round about way
what you're doing is basically withholding functionality from players to blackmail them into paying your monthly troll toll (cough cough discord tier crap cough)

>only the people i target would defend behavior that isn't absolutely abysmal

>>314411153
>We can easily just not pay for it and still get the full functionality of VRchat
What functionality? Bullshit avatar/world favorite limitations? The free pass to the top of the outlandishly retarded trust system?
It would be different if this were just a "yo come donate some to us and you'll get a nifty looking badge" but this isn't that. They're limiting the functionality of the game while also not working towards making the base game any less shit.
This wouldn't be as big of an issue if they weren't actively banning the modders out there that are trying to do their job for them, fucking hell.
>>314410841

I'm not sure what the term is, but there's like two of them and neither have any numbers by their name, like "example (0)" for instance. The headsets have 4-5 stars on them though, so I take it that's good.
One of you mentioned the two outdated base stations might cause problems for fbt VR chat so that kind of sucks, but as far as I can tell they come with everything that was in the box originally. I'm pretty lost to what all tech I need but I'm guessing that that's a start.
>>314411403
>1) 1.0 base stations require LOS to one another, or a sync cable between them. (Some users require one anyways. It's just an audio male-to-male cable, though)
To sync what, the revolution of its IR emitter?
>>314412363
Pulse timing
>>314412095
there should be people here that know more about htc vive than i do, i never owned the headset myself i only heard from other people of their experiences with the headset and heard about some of the functionality
keep in mind it used to be the only way to have fbt without hybrid setup back in the day and hybrid setup requires 3rd party software and extra lighthouses
the chances of there being people who know the pros and cons of htc vive setup for fbt to vrchat are very high, ask around people are generally pretty helpful in sharing information about the products that they've had in past
just steer clear of oculus cv-1 it has a horrible type flaw of the cable wearing out and they don't produce the headset anymore nor the cable so once the cable is gone you'll be stuck with a expensive paper weight unless you somehow manage to find a unused cable for cv-1
>>314411501
>They're limiting the functionality of the game
They literally just increased the avatar fave slot
>>314412434
>>314412363
1.0 base stations have three components of a base station pass:
1) modulated sync pulse containing base station info
2) x pass
3) y pass
You can tell because they have two rotors.
2.0 base stations instead encode the timing data into the IR itself, and use fancy lanses to make the elevation instead able to be told by the difference between two tightly spaced pulses. You can tell because it has one rotor, and the two sets of dim red vertical lines change spacing depending on elevation angle to the base station.
They're perfectly fine for FBT, I know anons with 1.0s that do FBT.
>>314412683
>and use fancy lanses to make the elevation instead
Huh, I was wondering how that was done. I figure they just moved to the one rotating motor + elevation being a series of small IR LEDs flashing in succession.

>>314412434
>They literally just increased the avatar fave slot
They paywalled it, yes. Again, if this were a modern game made in the year 2020 (or anytime past 2000 honestly) there should be no reason for having a limited amount of favorites and yet VRC does anyways. Them coming out and saying "donors get more slots" is equivalent to them outright admitting that there's no reason for the limit in the first place and that they're altering it for monetary gain.
I wonder if they will double down on clients and fix their shitty security with the VRC+ update?
>>314414105
Only way they can double-down on modded clients is making it too annoying for the modders to maintain by regularly shuffling function names and their locations in memory on a daily basis, requiring us to update the client every day.
>>314414051
Also this just occured to me, but isn't it literally illegal for VRC to make profit off their product since they're currently hosting millions of unlicensed asset rips? Unless they plan on giving all that money to various companies for IP licenses they're going to have a fuckton of lawsuits up their ass the moment they start making any money.

Day 3
As previously promised SEA hours daily light exploration starting today until July 7,2021
Hopefully you are ok with just one or two people since this is where we will start. Not everyone has free time.
Slight change of sched as I realized doing a light exploration on Wed, Fri and Sundays are redundant as we already do exploration on those days on a later time slot.
So adding a minor weekly variation on the matter
Mon, Tue, Thu, Sat - 11 AM UTC for 2 hrs till 1PM UTC - SEA hr light exploration
Wed, Fri - 2:30PM UTC to 4:00 PM UTC - SEA after anime hrs light exploration
Sun - 10:30 AM UTC to 3:00 PM UTC - SEA after anime hrs heavy exploration
composed of:
15 mins - gathering and preparation chat
60 mins - world exploration (random)
15 mins - mirror break
30 mins - world exploration (old guaranteed good)
Note: Heavy exploration on Sundays are longer
Today is Friday and thus will have the exploration after anime about 5 hrs from this post
Will post the world link later for the gathering and preparation stage when the anime is about to finish

>>314414592
That isn't the point, the point is that they're making money from a product that thrives off of illegal (lol) content. In the same way that Youtube has strict regulations involving song and video usage in order to stay legally afloat and keep monetization active, VRC will have to find a way to protect the unlicensed IP's if they plan on making any revenue from plus. The only way they could keep going with plus is if they:
>Removed worlds that host unlicensed assets/IP's
>Banned/Removed avatars that are unlicensed assets/IP's
Otherwise they'll be getting fucked for the rest of eternity in the courts over IP theft. It doesn't matter if they didn't "steal" the content or not, as long as they're hosting it legally they're 100% at fault.

Avatars 3.0 are lag bombs now. The October update made 3.0 avatars become very laggy for some reason. Basically if you take out your camera while looking in the mirror you blue screen yourself. It has to be a newly uploaded 3.0 avatar though, if it one from before the October update then it’s fine.

>>314415335
Well then in that case there isn't going to be any licensed content on the platform by next year considering how up to this point they've been rolling as a nonprofit company. Now that they're shifting gears towards making dough from their platform more and more companies are going to file requests but this time as lawsuits since they'll be making money from the distribution of their assets. At the end of all this VRC is going to either tank due to legal debts or there isn't going to be a sign of any intellectual property on their platform within the next year.

>>314416019
How is this even possible with the orange status now?
Also while I do realize there are shy people, people saying they got "excluded" is blatantly false unless they pissed offed too many people to gain notoriety. It's insanely hard to get excluded from /vrg/ where we have such high tolerance and acceptance to ideas or discussions.

Idk ive tested it multiple times to figure out what it was, I’ve even made 2.0 avatars made the same as the 3.0 ones and the 2.0 have no performance hit. You can get the lag bomb from cycling through 3 or 4 3.0 avatars, which will lag everyone in the instance badly or lag your self by turning on the mirror and pulling out there stream camera.
It’s funny hearing all the people in public instances complaining about the lag though.

in conclusion, make it a flat out donation system on the website and just give those features to everyone you dinguses, that's the only way you're avoiding the legal jews gutting your games
Getting a headset today, which one do i start with to prevent motion sickness?
>>314420161
>>314420257
If you want to donate a little just pay for a single month then? It's not a mandatory subscription and they haven't taken anything you already have from you to give to subscribers. It's still the same game except now you get the option to support it if you want.
If you don't want to support the game, don't give them money... good for you

Just try the comfort options and see how much you can handle. Take it slow. Also Alyx was designed with being baby's first vr game in mind so I guess that. I still recommend Space Pirate Trainer as the best first time vr game though it has no movement.

Alyx. Get it out of the way before you play any other VR FPS from the past year that does what it does, but better, with regards to VR interactions.
tupper tell your moron team what happens when a non-profit game enters the profit market where they are fair game for judiciary repercussions, the only reason your game is still up is because you dodged a bullet by not making any money out of it directly, the lawyers will equate your vrchat+ income as income as should which means you will be entering the field of copyright law hell

Used to be an aircraft carrier map I enjoyed. Dev updated it at some point in the last couple months and added a virtual joystick instead of continuing to allow direct analog stick interactions, and it ruined the whole thing.
A shame since it was the most full featured simulator I've seen in vrchat, more-so with the new shit added.

I'm a pleb in blender but was wondering is there any intuitive way to try and take a texture from one character and apply it to another one?
The problem was that a model I have doesn't have separated body from clothes, so the entire body is just one huge mesh that includes all of the clothes, head accessories and some other accessories as well, and I'd really like to apply to use the outfit or parts of it on a different body

>>314425237

ah that's what I thought but wasn't sure if you can just pick and choose which parts of the texture to use and how to use them.
Haven't played with uv mapping yet so idk what it even looks like
>>314425042
Can you seperate by materials/parts and delete the non clothes parts?
Or open the UV editor and select the non clothes parts you wanna delete?
>>314425386
can't check rn but I think the that would only leave out the face and hair
the rest of the body is just one giant part, including the hands and legs and all that
>>314419949
Based.
>>314425652
If that is the case, you can use grow selection or ctrl+L after selecting a vert on parts you don't want to keep of the outfit in edit mode it will only select verts physically connected by edges. You can use this to trim out all the body parts you don't need and then just have your outfit ready to put onto the other model

Looking for willing photographers for each timezone.
We have three so far
More photographers is best so we can get most people who may want to get an extremely kino pic of their avatar

Hmmmmm... kind of double standard but I guess just incase some people become smart on that loophole, male nipples are ok as long as you don't do anything explicitly sexual with it like rubbing the nips or licking it.
Sensual poses will probably occur on some specially the lewder participants but we're keeping it strict with no nipple and genital exposure

in my eyes /vrg/ is a bonfire, everyone can come and go as long as they know how to get in, there isn't any real rule on what kind of people can enter as long as you don't somehow piss off literally everyone, like 4chan /vrg/ expresses through action the best parts of anarchy and is the reason why i like the place
we have blacks, trannies, faggots, straights and everything in between from all regions and walks of life all united only by the fact that they like the game, it's a beautiful sight to behold even the ones that have something against any of the stereotypes that visit manage to still at the very least tolerate them to a degree
all in all /vrg/ will always be a bonfire to me where the only uniting thread (pun intended) is the bonds people forged

probably my approach if mamamad would ever visit eu hours
Last check before I do something I regret
Original Vive + accessories for $350 as a beginner headset is 'alright' ?
I can still do stuff like Pavlov and VRChat with the controllers/two 1.0 base stations right?
Also, the seller included this picture for some reason. Is there something wrong or is that just what vr lenses look like when they're on?
>>314430272
think they've been around at least EU hours not sure if it was officially EU meetup, it's kind of bizarre how they are that excited all the time i suspected stimulants but apparently that wasn't the case or at least people didn't think so so i have no clue what gives them their burst of energy and strange behavior but id say they are mostly harmless
>>314430416
read up about vive dildo's (the controllers) so you won't feel cheated, they are far from the best controllers but for that price tag they should suffice, getting it for as low as 350 seems like a steal considering that you can upgrade it to fbt if the headset is in good condition
yeah you can play palvov and vrchat with vive and two base stations, they probably just wanted to show the condition of the face guard thing aka the padding around the rims of the headset so it isn't all fucked up i think
Does anyone here that has owned an original Vive attest to how bad the visual quality is, or the screen door effect is if it's present?
Saw a few videos and it seemed like there was a little bit of SDE, but it was unnoticeable after a while.
>>314430936
It's not awful at first glance, but if you ever try anything better, you'll never be able to go back.
>>314430936
>how bad the visual quality is, or the screen door effect is if it's present?

The screendoor is pretty bad desu, but the FOV more than makes up for it. You will get used to it, and there is a possible Index + controllers upgrade with easy FBT on the horizon if you decide this is something for you.
At the end of the year each timezone should do some general rating of their newfriends acquired in that year or the last X months.

if you want to sell your stocked up wonderbricks for christmas mister zuckerberg you might want to hone your terms of service and get rid of the mandatory facebook and espionage functions off of it
>>314438141
Retard screaming psycho? sounds like pretty much any rando discordbrain at the NA meetups lmao
>>314438252
Buying a used vive is a great idea because they're super cheap and you can upgrade slowly to the index over time. I'm using a vive with index controllers right now.
The only downside is the vive can have some seriously poor resolution but you get used to it after a while and it runs better on older graphics cards.
no one is going to buy a product that you can arbitrarily brick just because thought police reasons, 300 usd for a paperweight is a no no
>>314439117
I've never owned a vr headset, it's why I'm asking if it's worth. Should I just save up for an index isntead?
>>314439202
if you're in no hurry then saving up for index would be ideal, just know that index tends to have shortages of availability because of how popular they are and corona hampering productivity
>>314439012
it would costs another $200 if they did that
>most normies care
terms of service are just the thing you dont read and agree to for most people
>>314439202
I'm biased because I literally just bought a used Vive, so take what I say with a grain of salt, but I've been told it's a decent starter headset. The main problem is the screen which has the "screen door effect" and relatively poor resolution, but I've yet to see how much of a dealbreaker that is. What I have heard on the positives though, is that a lot of the components can be used with the Index and later HTC headsets.
>>314439202
If you think you're someone who can really get into VR, then the index is a worthwhile purchase.
>>314439159
Normies will, pic related won't.
>>314432226
The ROI was VRChat being the most effective advertising tool for VR. There's a reason it works so hard on Quest support.
>>314439202
What I've told everyone lately is this:
Thanks to Facebook ruining Oculus, the cheap-range headset is dead and the mid-range headset is relegated to spotty WMR headsets. All that's left is the Index and buying Vives secondhand. If you absolutely must get VR right this second, those are your options. If you don't, wait on it. Something's bound to fill that spot sooner or later.
>>314439432
>300 dollar paper weight vs 500 dollar product that doesn't require bergbook and that won't be used to blackmail and corporate espionage
enjoy competing with the other headsets at 500 but that's literally the only way anyone with sense would throw money at you, throwing 300 down the well by trusting facebook is stupid
>>314439534
>normies will
then why are you shilling your shit product here mr zuckie fuckie? go promote your wonderbrick to normies, oh wait even reddit knows your product is arse, tough luck
>>314439649
>being the most effective advertising tool for VR
I still don't know why no VR developers have tried using VRChat as a means of advertising their game. Might be a thing in the future when VRChat adds more revenue streams by introducing sponsored worlds and shit for exposure.
>>314439690
most people have a facebook account and dont care about being spied on
to them the facebook integration is a non-factor or, at most, a minor issue
personally, i will never buy an oculus product because of it but i dont have facebook and im a paranoid schizophrenic
>>314439862
The first reason is because it doesn't work (Those toothbrush head avatars are from a gamedev company who ported a bunch of their models to vrchat. Most people don't know that.)
The second reason is because letting people run around with your characters can look negatively on your public image. (Example: the aforementioned toothbrush head avatars.)
>>314416980
a little, but you'll be alright unless you're deep in the closet.
Honestly, most of the gay/trannies are usually betas and nothing like the IRL ones that get offended about everything. They're aware of their degeneracy so they're actually easier to be around... if that makes sense.
>>314440078
Don't make avatars then, just make a cool little slice of your game as a world to explore about. This was what Sony was trying to do with PSHome to advertise upcoming 1st-party games, but failed at because no one loads a PS3 to load up a social sim.

>>314440450
then, once again, why are you trying to shill to them then, if you don't need them as your customers why are you trying to push your shitty wiretap wonderbrick to them?
Steam isn't going to lower the price of Index anytime soon, so you're going to have to buy the Zuckerjew or pay for a used Vive.
>>314440364
That's not very cute or funny of you
>>314440391
Just realized this too. Why does he keep on posting about it? Why the holier then thou attitude? Why can't he just keep it to himself?
>>314440450
This.
There's an old rule in gamedev that goes something like "The online community that talks about your game makes up 30% of its player base."
If we assume that 30% talks about the product to, let's say, 20% of people who aren't in that community at maximum, that leaves at least 50% of people who will never give a rat's ass about online drama regarding your product.
>>314440450
Meanwhile a game company will bend over backwards for a single rainbow-haired person on twitter.
>>314440762
either that or just save up for index which is the most ideal, you can also wait and pray that there will be more competition in the headset market that will force them all to cut their prices down a peg to compete
>>314440332

>>314441082
Only applies to Rift S/Quest in Germany where Facebook was trying to (eventually) force users to sign-up with another service (Facebook) for the product they already paid for.
It's part of the reason Facebook dropped production on both headsets to go full steam with Quest 2 with the Facebook account being a requirement from the get go.
>>314441040
>"bro you're already bleeding just let them shank you you can't stop it"
just because it's a uphill battle to let people know doesn't mean it's not worth it to do so
who knows, maybe people will eventually start to give a shit when someone using facebergs espionage products starts blackmailing users with the data they yoink from them
>>314441291

maybe but considering this writing has been on the wall for over a decade and things have only gotten worse i really dont expect some sudden backlash from the general population
the reality is most people dont give a shit about their data or privacy. When people get locked out of their account because its demanding a phone number the vast majority just give up their phone number

>>314467562
I want that too, though it'd have to be airsoft or water guns or something else not realistically violent though.
>>314467562
This, I want to watch anime girls bleed out after taking a fatal shot, or have their heads pop off like in Pavlov

>meaning you would only be able to get used old-type base stations
1.0 base stations are still in production. You can purchase them new from many sources and they are included with the vive cosmos elite
What actual innovative technology can we expect on the VR front in the next 3 years? What about 5 or 10 years?
>>314467869
I think Valkyria chronicles did it well. The cartoony hit effects would work particularly well in VR.
>>314468375
Small chance of another FPS developer giving a fuck about VR if MoH is successful.
>>314450367
How is it that the nips manage to make furry characters likable as opposed to the abominations made in the west?
Recently got an index and coming from a cv1 I miss oculus dash. Any recommended overlay for this? Steamvr default one is a blurry mess. I was t hinking ovrdrop or XSoverlay
>>314468375
>innovative technology
nothing
the current technology doesnt work properly - were going to see refinements of tracking, higher resolutions, better wireless/wired solutions and then probably meme hapic crap that is shit until 2030
>>314468804
Confirmation bias and you're a weaboo
Jap furry vrchat meets come up on my twitter pretty frequently and they almost all look as shitty as western counterparts
>>314469510
OVRdrop is ok once you configure the settings properly. It's not something I'd ever use in other games, though.
i'm in chillout, where does vrg hang out?
>>314470651
in VRC
>>314470278
are you really trying to say that this loveable fuzzball isnt cuter andmore eroticthan any western furry could ever hope to be?
>>314470706
i did not ask you
>>314470782
It's an anime character made by a professional anon
It's not the same nip or westerner's fursona
>>314470651
i am in nier automata right now, no other vrg here right now, come into the active instance
>>314470651
there are like 30 people playing it wouldnt be hard to go up to everyone and see who they are
>>314469510
XSOverlay is closest to Oculus dash functionality. OVRToolkit is too, but I think it's clunkier. Ovrdrop is old and unmaintained. DesktopPlus is a free improvement over the default steamvr overlay, but doesn't do the whole dragging around windows yet.
While I wait for my stuff to arrive, I had a question
For VR Chat, where does everyone get their avatars at?
>>314468053
That senran kagura water gun game but in VR is exactly what I want.
>>314472331
mostly converted from MMD models hosted on various websites, such as BowlRoll, MMD Booru, or DeviantArt.
There are premade avatars available for sale as well on booth.pm.
>>314472331
Booth, bowlroll, 3d.niconico.jp, deviantart, vrcmods. There's a paste in in the OP too with plenty of links.
>>314472731
Ah I'm sorry, I didn't see the paste.
>>314472331
Start with public avatar worlds. There's a list of hundreds of worlds with pedestals that you can just grab to change into that avatar. Otherwise it's a trip into blender/unity to set up your own custom one.
>>314420346
Many patreons and patreon tiers can actually be tied to produced content though.
e.g. a video creator creates a patreon, they get paid per video actually produced instead of per month.
If VRChat did this it wouldn't be shit. I'd pay them per implemented feature or resolved issue (provided they didn't make their own shit dummy issues).
>>314472331
Booth models are the meta these days, but there's higher quality content on Bowlroll and Nico Seiga than ever before.
>>314473053
I don't think the "bug bounty" model works well for software development. I would be more likely to pay for vrc plus if you had some sort of voting rights on the roadmap though. More of a public company shareholder model.
>>314464767
I'm glad to see a competitor ready to pounce for when VRChat drops the ball
>>314470782
I legit want to fuck a nanachi in-gamebut a male one
>>314473846
Well the late NA nanachis are going to be both online and drunk in like 7 hours so go ask one of them.
>>314473041
I don't think I'm doing this blender thing right, but this is pretty funny
>>314474139
God thanks for reminding me I've got to make a horrible gsculpt recreation of my model and get it into vrc.

western furrys make me question myself a hard never

>>314475203
I do more than 10 avatars in a month, I have to pay to exceed what vrc gives me unlimited slots for free. It's a forced paywall for a game with no playerbase and less features.
($5 Shilloutbucks have been credited to your bank account )
>>314475452
How the fuck do they pull it off? How do they capture the cute aesthetic perfectly whereas westerners always come across as blatant sexual degenerates?
>>314475769
why
>>314475553
>>314475912
jps are better at making me think "oh that's a cute anthro design" versus a westerner's "yeah that's an OC that probably has had thousands of dollars' worth of commissioned pornography"

impressive
>>314443819

>>314478320
Honestly I don't even see them as the same thing. The reason why I don't like furry is because they look uncanny and are horrid fetishised beasts. Japanese furry I don't see as a fetish thing and is just cute. Wouldn't fuck either but I'd headpat a japfur.

outside-in is relying on external hardware to position your device, inside out is relying on internal hardware to position your device
inside-out uses cameras and relies on a well lit playspace and also requires that your controllers have visibility to the cameras on the headset (this is a lot more restrictive than you think)
steamVR's outside-in uses sensors on the surfaces of tracked objects and a device (lighthouse) that sends patterned sweeps of IR across the playspace for tracked objects to pick up and use to determine orientation and position, the external hardware is a consideration to have to make while setting up but the tradeoff is that you get much better tracking and full coverage of your playspace instead of just around your headset

Vox Machinae small update yesterday -
This update makes the AI not so terminator-esque. We plan to add a host setting for the AI skill level in the future.
Also of note, microphone input volume is now automatically controlled, so you hopefully won't need to keep telling people they are too loud or too quiet.
There are also lots of bugs fixed!
Server updates are being rolled out throughout the day, so you might not notice some of the changes yet, depending on which server you connect to.
Bots will now avoid running into obstacles such as teammates, vehicles, and buildings where possible.
Bots have more human-like reaction times.
Bots have more variation in their aiming, including targeting limbs.
Mic volume is now automatically adjusted to avoid the case of overly loud or quiet voice chat.
Improve quality of terrain at Medium and Low terrain texture quality settings.
Players who have connected to the game but not joined a team now show up on the player grid (making it possible to kick them from the game, if desired).
Fix an error that could occur on the player Interact menu.
Fix bug with did not equip newly earned hat when choosing to do so on the "new hat" screen.
Fix bug which cause Power Venting module to require pressing twice to reactivate.
Increase efficiency of Power Venting module.
Fix wrong armor pieces being shown as damaged/destroyed on Dredge when viewed at a distance.
Fix capturable factories that spawn as random events on Convoy mode not giving their intended buffs.
Fix voice chat being cut off when switching between Hangar and Cockpit when using a controller other than a VR motion controller.

Here's all the useful HyperDash assets in a .zip, ready to be used in Unity.
https://mega.nz/file/e3ZAHLrL#f3Fo7dGTQNvvLJC1RLrIeU0jqJ75Xo-LqYQn2Y4kZoE
Feel free to use them for whatever you want. We'll have a "Hyperdash avatar day" on Dec 9th and play a few game maps in VRChat with the avatars; there might be a group photo.
>>314482981
I'm planning to make an outfit that resembles hyperdash man but is still my avatar, not a robot.
>>314470651
Uhm, >>314470706 wasn't a joke or shitpost. We seriously do not play it. Like 5 people try and stomach it once a week but that will die off soon since all the people who try it out come back to VRC just to complain about it

A free game, it's nice to see. Too bad they will never fund games with graphics on that level again now that they need to make everything for Quest.
