They're not just selling well because they're cheap, if they were cheap but also complete shit they wouldn't sell nearly as well. Currently they're both the second cheapest option (after a used vive) and also arguably the second best (after the index). WHY: to enjoy the spectacle, and to skim enough of the shows to figure out what to actually watch. you just have to git gud. Almost nobody uses a physical stock because they're inconvenient when you want to reload or throw grenades or do anything else. Some people use the virtual stock which pins the gun to your virtual shoulder, but I prefer just bracing the controllers against eachother to stabilize the. not realistic, but works well.

I think he uses Index? What I can tell you is that the Oculus version of Pavlov has unsmoothed tracking so if your gameplay looks like Ol' Grandpa Parkinson's is playing that's the main reason why. In that case either use Vstock until you've trained your body for stability or try the SteamVR version.

I used VROptician, lens quality is very good and is better than the normal cheapo glasses I use. Personally preferable for me over contacts since I don't really like wearing contacts, but if you wear contacts all day that might be different.
That said, if you do wear contacts then since headsets can get quite warm it may dry your eyes/ contact lenses out more.

The FOV can be good with a mod. In SteamVR's FOV room I went from 85 to 98 degrees using a thinner face gasket, versus 103 degrees with the Index. I'd say go for it if your computer can handle it.

The ergonomics are a lot better than the OG WMR controllers which was a surprisingly nice boost. The battery lasts longer too, and the haptics feel stronger as well. The thumbsticks can finally be clicked with the left menu opening the steamvr overlay and the right opening the ingame menu. The grips are analog too which are more comfortable when holding things and of course let you do more with them like sliding your hands in Boneworks. The tracking volume is bigger with the G2 as well thanks to the extra cameras, but that's headset specific.

What is worse is the amount of inputs. The touchpads on the OG WMR controllers useable as five face buttons as opposed to the mere two the G2 and Oculus controllers have is amazing. The extra inputs are great for not made for VR games like minecraft, skyrim, modded Doom etc. Where the extra buttons really help.

Both sets of controllers are backwards and forwards compatible thankfully.

You have to activate (grip on index) the ladders on the side to get in, gunner, driver, or side-gunner. Once you're in, driver is just grabbing the two levers, side-gunner is using the turret. The commander you first have to open the breech, then down on the floor, grab the single (respawning) round, bring it up to the breech, let go, grab it again to push it into the breech, close the breech, use the two wheels to aim, then trigger on the top part to actually fire.
