WHERE: vrchat, in anon's basement (instance link will be posted)

WHAT: watch ALL the first episodes of all 42 shows airing this season*. Using some ultra advanced technology, we can play 6 at a time, each on its own moveable screen with spatialized audio. We'll 4 sets of 6 shows on Sunday, and 3 sets on Wednesday, in a random order.

WHY: to enjoy the spectacle, and to skim enough of the shows to figure out what to actually watch. It's a little less chaotic than you think thanks to the spatialized audio, and last season people tended to gravitate to just 1 or 2 shows in each set after a few minutes, with the audio in the background to alert you if something interesting is happening in another show.

After we decide what shows to actually watch, we'll rewatch the first episodes properly starting the next sunday the 17th, same schedule.

Another thing to keep in mind: You can't do gesture overrides (transforms) and facial expressions (shapekeys) on the same layer. Your hand shapes will only override if you put them in the Gestures layer and enable hand animation instead of hand tracking (if you're using index). The thumbstick on one of my touch controllers has become oversensitive and moves me forward from the slightest touch, sometimes from no touch at all. I thought this might be due to wear and tear over 2.5 years but I have been blowing compressed air into the thumbstick on the off-chance that it might be due to debris stuck inside but I haven't noticed any change yet.

Is there anything else I should try before buying new controllers?

You need enough floor space to move around in for room scale VR. You can include other things within that area, like a desk or a sofa, but you'll need to be careful not to fall into it so I strongly recommend against. I made do with about 1x1 when I first got VR but it's a lot nicer now with 2x2.5.
You can also do standing only but that's a lot more boring in my opinion.

Are there any guides for HUD shaders in VRchat? I've seen others do it before.

Get a screenspace shader. Put it on a sphere and parent it to your hips. Attach it to your head via a parent constraint. Mess around with it until you get a HUD in the right place
