We'll be doing some Assetto drinking and driving for a bit after Vox ends. Drinking not required, just don't expect anything remotely serious out of this. The server is already updated, so anyone who isn't doing Vox can start earlier if they want.

Reminder for giant robots in about 2 hours!

On a whim I tried ripping the maps from the game, intending to make a vrchat world where you could look around miniature versions of the different Vox maps. Unfortunately the map data in the game files isn't a format I could recognize. I stuck the game through ninjaripper and got out some textures that look like the heightmap, but it's still hard to tell; renderdoc didn't work for some reason (game crashes immediately), so I can't see what the shader is doing with the textures. I think it's a worthwhile pursuit if somebody else has more ripping experience.

Here is the time laspe of the world building in neos.

Here is the recipe:
3 Egg, cheese, 2 large tortillas(12in), rice.
Prepare 2 cups of rice 45-60 minutes before the start of the event.
Then start the eggs at around 15-20 minutes to the start of the event as well.
1. Mix eggs in a bowl
2. Butter/oil the pan and the cook eggs
3. Keep mixing the eggs as you cook them to get them nice and scrambled. (Don't over cook them unless you like it that way)
4. Add enough rice and cheese so that you can still tightly fold the tortilla

Due to the structure of the event, being a few minutes early or late (as long as the matchmaker is prepared, and the event is still ongoing, of course) is not an issue. Is the Quest versopm VRC just crashy as fuck? I've been doing social experiments on Quest maps on PCVR, and noticed people tend to just stop and freeze for 10s in the middle of doing something, before popping out of existence at least three times a day. Also had cases of people just talking about crash avatars, but that hasn't been a problem for PC users in ages with the safety settings + mods to mitigate, so I assume that was in relation to Quest also.

I never had much trouble with WMR, but then G2 changed the controller config so that could be part of it.

FPS issues could be caused by excessive super-sampling especially on such a high-res headset. I've noticed even on lower res you start to get diminishing returns after like 1.2 or so. Also since MR Home likes to run constantly in the background it can help to turn off its display mirroring and minimize it.

As for play area you need a lot of room light for good tracking since it's not IR based, it should be pretty good at keeping track of the room (and your playspace), especially if there are some recognizable items (e.g. wall hangings or furniture) for it to reference.

The very first thing you want to do is make an account on vrchat.com
Don't log in with steam, it'll just lead to issues and they really should make this extremely prominent on the game page. Once you've made an account you an LINK your steam account to vrchat for easy login if you wan.t

With the G2, first load Windows mixed reality for steamvr from steam to load steam vr home/dashboard, THEN launch vrchat.
Because you have a G2, unfortunately there's one more step. The controllers don't have capacitive sensing so you'll need to go to steam vr dashboard again, and find the most popular controller binding.
I think StrongBad finally made a binding for you.
Anyway, log in with the account you made earlier and you'll be taken through a basic tutorial on how to play, which is a bit old now.
You might want to do this out of vr with a keyboard and mouse just to skip that step, but it's up to you.
I highly recommend just not using teleport locomotion at all (use slide locomotion), and just stick with snap turning.
Anyway, once you're done that you'll get dumped into the main homeworld and there's a mirror and a bunch of sample avatars.
After that, you're in.
From there, you can either explore by clicking the world menu (I don't recommend hitting the most popular worlds first (or at all really), check out some game worlds in the "udon showcase" section to get a feel for what it's really about.

The Windows Mixed Reality headsets are actually really awesome, but what they don't tell you is that microsoft still considers them a work in progress, driver and stack wise.
The G2 is the best looking headset of the entire bunch, the fidelity is absolutely incredible compared to everything except maybe XTAL or a pimax8kX which has it's own janky issues.
I won't say the steamVR Pure experience with a vive or index isn't easier (it is) but the G2 is a great, comfortable, visually stunning headset with amazing audio.

The controller tracking isn't as good, but it's not bad either.
It's VASTLY improved by making sure you don't have other sources of 2.4ghz interference.
The rift S is discontinued. It's much better to get a 5g router with WIFI 6 and a quest 2, install virtual desktop, install the mod from sidequest, and you'll have the single best VR Setup besides a valve index.
To EVERYONE here: If you have the money to afford a valve index, just get a valve index.
It's infinitely easier and better supported. it's not perfect, the hardware can be a little fragile, but it's the best headset.
However if you're willing to mess with it, the G2's audio and video are stunning.
Make sure you're opted into the steam beta, the steamVR tool beta, and windows mixed reality for steamvr beta at all times.
It doesn't hurt to be in the "drivers and fixes" insider preview branch of windows 10 either.
Finally, make sure the usb port you're using is your PRIMARY usb 3.x port: the one that is enumerated by your CPU - you will have tracking issues with the southbridge controlled addon cards.
the ones you want are usually the top pair of blue ports under the usb2.0 next to your PS2 keyboard port at the top of the mobo IO header.
Do not put anything else on that pair of ports.

It's literally working flawlessly though. Plug and play, never had any sutters, errors, crashes, anything. It's just that AC is not getting the FPS I wanted it to, and I don't know why. Every other game runs way better than before still, but I want to play AC at 90 fps. Pavlov is the only other game I have issues with. First the gripping didn't work, now I can't take out the empty mag for some guns, and now the gripping works, but every time I grip it points the gun to the ground and I have to compensate by lifting my left hand really high irl and it's annoying.

I have every headset mentioned in this thread. TEATHERED quest 2 cable to pc IS, in fact, GARBAGE.
Virtual desktop over wifi 6 to steamvr HOWEVER, is actually god tier, and you can drive the panels at 90hz with 2ms latency to frame, for a total latency of 11ms. I'm actually flabbergasted with how good it is. It's better than Oculus's own built in solution by a huge margin and I keep going back to it over my index for quick things since it's just that insanely portable.
Plus the controllers are nice. It shows up as a rift S in steamVR.

easiest place to start is on vrcmods. find some okay model even if you don't quite like it and use it to learn the basic import and upload process. Second easiest is booth, buy (or download) some loli in a sailor outfit and use your new skills to get it in game. Third easiest is mmd models, which is a decent forcing function to learn very basic blender/cats as well as unity.

After you get the flow of just importing/uploading something premade you can learn to do basic edits to the textures and materials, shapekeys and animations in unity, then move over to blender and learn basic clothes swaps, then custom modeling, etc.

VR Minecraft barely needs anything in the way of fancy tracking. All the actions can be done just by pressing buttons. The WMR controllers might actually be the best option for Vivecraft given the huge amount of inputs it has and the fact that the WMR controllers have 10 face buttons that you can map stuff to as opposed to 4 on the Rift S.

What version of Blender should I be using? I tried to use the one from the OP and it looks nothing like the tutorial or my friends version of Blender.

Been playing Tokyo Chronos on Rift S recently (via Steam) and I've noticed the backgrounds look a little blurry. The farther they are, the blurrier they get. The characters' outlines also seem a little messed up, and I suspect this is because of poor or no AA. Is there a way to improve this, or am I doomed due to my Rift S's specs? Upping the overall resolution with OpenVR didn't help by the way.

it's not actually that bad overall but there are specific situations where it sharts itself.

most notably, behind the back, above the head/behind shoulders, and occlusion.

this one's really fucking annoying when it crops up, throwing stuff in VR already sucks cock but with the O+ or really any WMR headset you'll have to underhand toss if you want any semblance of accuracy, as the controller being above eye-level means your headset is essentially guessing where your hand is. another game this sucks in is blade and sorcery; horizontal slashes and swings usually have no issues, but overhead ones and reaching your arm back for a stab will cause the game to have a stroke half the time trying to figure out what angle you actually tried to swing/stab at.

absolutely infuriating. In fps games when you're two handing a gun (rifle, shotgun, etc.) if the game isn't set up to have the controllers at different heights to two hand, then one will be blocking line of sight to the other and the hand holding further down the gun is going to lock in place on in the game world you even if you're moving them, or it'll suddenly snap back where it's supposed to go when it finally realizes what's happening and fuck your aim up. extremely fucking annoying and happens constantly in H3VR, surprisingly doesn't happen in pavlov all that often though but when it does it get me madder than shit.

again overall the tracking outside of these scenarios is fine, especially for a product you should be paying around 200-300 bucks for but these scenarios are going to come up in various games and you will have to play around them or get fucked.

for me it's either this headset or the index, everything in between has too many concessions for being more expensive than the O+. if you don't want to drop a grand then this, a rift S, or the G2 is the next best thing, but i don't want a facebook owned headset and if im already paying 600+ bucks for the G2 i personally would just throw the extra 400 in for the increased comfort and better tracking.

if you're ok with getting zucc'd a rift S is probably still a better deal, has some of the same tracking issues, but with more cameras they don't happen as often, especially the over the head/shoulder ones i mentioned earlier.

also do not pay more than 300 for an O+ if you're willing to get a rift S.

also if you're considering getting an O+ I'd highly recommend getting the PU leather VRCover and possibly an aftermarket head strap to take some weight off your face. the face cover that comes with the headset starts feeling like steel wool after a few sessions and it's a pretty heavy headset to have all it's weight resting on your forehead/nose. another issue with the headset that i have because my parents made me in the oblivion character creator is that my head is slightly too large for it, which makes the left headphone hurt my ear after a few hours of use. you probably won't have an issue with it but if you have an abnormally large head like I do it's something to consider.
