Summer depression is kicking in hard folks. All my female and male friends on VRChat/vrg are hooking up and I am feeling more and more left out from everything. The disappointing graphics and the roadmap in that video showing the stuff that'll be missing at launch have me worried that it's going to suck. Hopefully they prove me wrong though, another fun multiplayer VRFPS game would be nice.
Also, Hyperdash died off because people were already getting tired of the existing content, and the paid version was just the same thing with finished art. I definitely would've picked it up if they'd changed more before the actual release.

New to VR, what are shooting games like using rifles?
I mean, it's easy to simulate a pistol in VR, but with something like a rifle you can't make all the contact points that make it stable and comfortable, like sticking the stock between your shoulder and chest or resting your cheek on the stock.
Am I just supposed to get some sort of attachment for my controllers or do you just get used to it?
I'm asking because I don't want to buy something like pavlov and then learn most weapons are kinda miserable unless I buy an accessory.

It's kind of cool, with some satisfying non-gun movements and gunning to the beat. Pistol whip's mechanics are indeed a winning formula even in a film noir skin. It'll really depend on how much you like the aesthetics over pistol whip though, and of course how often they update. To their credit at least pistol whip's devs have trickled out updates, but it's no beat saber.

The graphics in the demo are quest tier for some reason, though the PC trailer does seem to have nicer rain-slick streets.

if you don't need to play 360/180 VR videos, bigscreen with mpv.net or vlc is the easiest and has the nice dynamic lighting, and also supports side by side/over under 3D if you have those. mpv/vlc with your favorite vr overlay (oculus dash, desktop plus, xsoverlay, ovr toolkit) is fine too.

I've been experimenting playing Pavlov with the Index instead of the Rift that I've been use to and the results have been quite painful. The knuckles grip feels considerably slow and awkward compared to the simple trigger press of the touch controllers. This matters a lot since the grip is the input required to grip the gun, throw grenades, and interact with the bolt on sniper rifles, which all feel slow and terrible.

As an aside, the knuckles are large enough to where gripping a handgun with 2 hands is very annoying since the knuckles will just hit each other and block each other. Very disappointing since the increased frame rate and clarity of the headset should've allowed it to be one of the best headsets for VRFPSes. But instead, the knuckles cause it to be a significant downgrade over even a CV1.

The Index works wonderfully well for Vox and racing though.

Has a custom drone system with cameras you can override if you leave your camera in the override sphere.

The relay will be a 4x150 meter race. That means 4 athletes running one after anther and passing a baton to continue. The number athletes was changed from 6 to 4 so that it would be easier to assemble teams and because that is the standard in a lot of real sports events.
Your joystick will be disabled on the track and you must use redirected walking.(More on how to do this later)
Use of playspace mover is NOT allowed.
Use of playspace rotation is allowed as long as it is used as intended.
Dropping the baton is allowed.
Throwing the baton is not allowed.
You will need a real size avatar. (More on this later)
Please stay roughly within your assigned lane. No more than .5 meters out.
Please pay attention to when its your turn to enter the track for the change zone.
Track layout:
300m Japanese track.
The first runner on the team starts at the red line in their assigned lane.
The second runner waits at the blue line the their assigned lane.
Third runner waits at the side of the track for the rest of the teams to pass so they can enter the track and wait at the green line.
Same for the forth runner but at the yellow line.
Check points:
At about the half way point there will be a checkpoint that athletes must cross so that the finish line will appear.

There are PU leather or silicone replacements for the face gasket and headband, both prevent the foam from soaking up sweat. I have the ALVR ones and can confirm that they have the build quality issues mentioned in reviews. Both headbands flex so much that they unclip themselves at the edges, the padding is also very firm/thick compared to the original foam. The face gasket is better, it made me sweat a lot more at first but it doesn't get at hot as the foam did. If my original headbands hadn't been peeling off I would have put silicone covers on them and kept the replacement gasket.

If your hands are a firehose like mine, make sure you have electrical contact cleaner to spray into the controllers otherwise all that sweat will eventually cause stick drift.
