Is there anything better than big screen for watching 3d movies in vr?
I currently host a plex server that I keep my movies, including the 3d ones, on. But playing the movies in 3d seems pretty much impossible unless you're using a quest or your phone. And I'm using my index.and the dlna doesn't work because my server computer is in the other side of the house and there's a router in between and it doesn't like that.
Big screen isn't bad, but having to save all the files on my computer is a little annoying.

Index is 2 year old technology. Get a Quest 2, Reverb G2, or Vive Pro 2 instead.

The Reverb G2 has THE MOST BEAUTIFUL image quality of all headsets, but WMR sucks monkey balls. I only recommend if you have a good vidcard (rtx 3080 or better), tracking isn't too important, and you're a tech enthusiast and know how to google all the different little issues you'll have. This is the best headset for Simulators.

The Vive Pro 2 is the best over-all headset on the market right now. The main problem is that it's not twice as good as the Hp Reverb G2 or $1000 better then the Quest 2. It's image quality is almost as good as the G2, but not quite. It has the best tracking. But at the end of the day, it's a 4 year old headset with a better screen, but not the best screen.

If you have the money get a Vive Pro 2. If you want your money's worth then you're going to have to compromise somewhere.

The audio and tracking is still among the best, but the Hp Reverb G2 (and Quest 2) has beaten it in Image quality, the G2 has matched it in Audio quality, the Vive and Pimax match it in Tracking quality, the Pimax beats it in Image quality and refreshes rate (and quest 2 and pro 2 matches it in refresh rate). For $1000 you can get better headsets (heck for $300 you can get almost as good) and if you don't mind paying $300 more, you can get a headset that is better in the most important thing (Image Quality) and is just as good in everything except the audio, where it's almost as good.

LOL, have you actually tried the different headsets? The G2 is freaking beautiful, it's image quality is better then the index in every way! The Pimax, g2, and Pro2 all exceed the Index in image quality by a considerable margin! Really, try a g2 and then try going back to an Index!

The problem is that there's no perfect HMD at the moment, you always have to compromise somewhere, but the Quest 2, Hp Reverb G2 are both cheaper and better total values than the index. The Pimax and Vive Pro 2 are better headsets than the index. Right now the Index exists in a weird niche where it's both more expensive and less good than a bunch of headsets.

If you're interested in value then you're buying a Quest 2. If you're interested in Image Quality then you're buying an HP Reverb G2. If you want the creme de la creme and money is no object then you're buying a pimax or a Pro 2. Index is both expensive and not as good, it's not a value at the moment. 2 years ago, yes, buy the index, it was the best, but much like you don't tell people to buy a 1080TI because it was the best Video card in 2017, you don't buy a valve index because it was the best headset 2 years ago.

While i thought the Prom would not annoy me, because why should i be annoyed about something that i have no connection to and does not inpact myself, when i looked trough all the pictures of the happy "couples" i felt jealousy.
Its not even about that once again, other people were more successfull than me and got someone to be happy at a couple event, it is more the realisation, that nobody was interested in going to prom with me.
this fact is starting to settle in as i go trough the pictures and it feels like a downward spiral from there. if not even in vr i could get a date, how unlikely is it for me to get a date in the real world? jealousy is seeping in more and more and i do not like this.

You can check your own log in "AppData\LocalLow\VRChat\VRChat" and see if it filled up (e.g. "Maximum number (256) of shader keywords exceeded, keyword _COLOR_ON will be ignored.")
Consider using a shader that doesn't require keywords.

There is no reason why "PENETRATOR_ON" was a shader keyword on an avatar there.

I did not have any issues with shaders at the prom despite being there for the beginning to the end completely uninterrupted, admittedly it is embarrassing how many people had horrifically optimized avatars (and not just being in the Very Poor range, things far worse than that) but for the most part performance was fine despite having the vast majority of people shown, silky smooth 20-30 fps!
