This is going to be a weekend-long convention style event the last weekend of July, events will be happening each day

All you need to do is what you've been doing all along, make an avatar with your base model in some cosplay of an anime/pop-culture character.


Friday, July 30th: Dance hours showcasing some of the best DJs our community has to offer
Saturday, July 31st: Explore the VirtAme convention map, a group photo, and finish things off with a cosplay contest. The contest will be judged by your peers
Sunday, August 1st: Day-long anime marathon.

I was doing this today with the rebound I was expecting to happen. My fellow weebs, a new season of anime is upon us, and it is once again time to watch them all. This is the 4rd season we've done this and we've become exceedingly efficient at it.

WHAT: Using advanced vrchat video player technology, we're going to screen all ~36 episode 1s of the Summer 2021 season, 6 at a time, in glorious cacophony. After we catch them all, we have a rousing debate to decide which shows are worth our continued attention.

the ones I get the most use out of are IKTweaks to make FBT a lot better, join/leave notifier for general niceness, comfy vr menu for comfy menu angle when laying down, and advanced invites to drop portals to existing friends+ instances. The portable mirror mod is nice too, if you're one of those people that always has their camera out facing themselves. tracking rotator is nice for watching movies when you're laying down but the screen is slightly too low or high.

the auto-updater is a bit sketchy, but if you're the type to just download random .ddls off of github anyway, your risk profile is basically the same, just more convenient. I use it, but I my VR PC is pretty well isolated from anything actually important, so I probably care less than some people.

if you enabled the 'optimized simulation', turbones definitely behaves differently/weirder than default bones. Just having the 'optimized collision checks' seems to function identically though. As for performance, it doesn't seem any worse, but it also doesn't seem noticeably better, at least anecdotally; I haven't tried toggling turbones on/off in a crowded meetup full of very poor avatars for example.

Server is up. If you don't have it yet Content Manager is borderline required for Assetto Corsa, the normal game menu system is a terrible experience.

I have a dress that I could technically add dynamic bones too but it'd be a pain in the ass to add it to every single "quadrant" of the dress and weight them all individually, whereas clothing physics just works out of the box

Cloth physics are absolutely supported in VRChat, but performance categories limit you to a relatively small number of affected verts, and also setting it up in a way that works well is black magic I've never been able to wrap my head around.

VKB Gladiator NXT + thrustmaster FCS (Throttle and pedals)

Thrustmaster 16000 has nice precision, but has this horrible ballspring system which "locks" the stick in center position quite strongly.
Small corrections (aka, aiming, landing, a2a refueling) are literally painful, because you need to do a lot of them and constantly overcome the "lock in" force.

Gladiator is the cheapest of the top line of joysticks, basically. It has linear spring force without weird center "lock in". It has twist rudder, a lot of hats, and thrust axis lever, so you could use it on it's own without pedals or throttle. Finish is nice, and the base is metal, heavy and stable.
Magnetic readers on all axis too, so no worries about potentiometers going bad, only 120 bucks for the stick.

I basically just upgraded from T16000 to Gladiator and I'm super glad[\spoiler]

So I know what the OP says, but is the Quest 2 worth buying compared to an Index? I've repeatedly been told that it has higher resolution, more affordable most games don't even have tracking to use the Index fingers, and just had my first try with VR on one. The quest 2 is a very impressive headset, and can safely say i was more impressed going from my index to it than i was going from my cv1 to my index.

That said it is uncomfortable, people say it's the strap but i think that's only part of the problem, the bigger issue is the face gasket foam is quite hard and unpleasant, I think a VRcover would do wonders.

I also feel like the battery being so small would be very annoying if it were my primary headset.

The quest 2 is a good headset but most of its value comes from being able to play PCVR games with it by running VR games on your PC and streaming it to your headset. If you can't do that for either; the quest 2 isn't the best choice it's your only choice.
You'll be cucked and limited to a number of quest titles, but it's a good intro to VR.
If you wanna VR and don't have a GPU it's your only choice.

I've thought about how to do this, I think I posted about it a couple years ago. Any friend can get a world link to your current (public/friends+/friends) location, even if they're not online and in the world themselves, through the vrchat website/API. Thus, you can make a vrchat bot account and have people send it friend requests, and you don't actually have to log the bot in-game or have it join instances. It's just a queryable friends list.

With that bot account, you can make a web page that's essentially the same as the vrchat "location" page as viewed from the bot, but with the names filtered out, and only friends+ instances. You could then choose the an instance from those (highest population, or lowest, or newest, etc) and have a link that redirects to that instance. Or you could just display them all and let people pick.

Sounds like their discord bot does the same thing, except they also filter to instances with "at least 1 event admin present" and have some arbitrary tiebreaker. You could do it purely leaderless too though, as long as enough people have the bot friended (and are on green/blue status).

Even without a separate bot account, you could do a similar thing with your own account, where you make a webpage that redirects to your own current location for a short time. I've thought about doing that for high map turnover times like vket exploration; it'd be like a temporary friend request I suppose.

Assetto is pretty easy to get started, just install Content Manager, it makes it much easier. From there you setup your wheel/controller, adjust the video settings to VR, enable/disable any extra CM features you don't want (optional) and start racing.

The hard part is finding the balance between visual quality and performance in VR. For example, post processing has a performance impact but is neccesary if you want to be able to see braking lights on cars.

Skyrim VR actually ran well for me on a 970. Modestly modded with 1k and 2k textures rather than 4k, skip the meme shit like 4k cheese wheels. Full billboard, trees, terrain, water and LOD replacements get the game looking much much better than vanilla for little cost if you pick the performance friendly options. The most time consuming part of getting this graphical core of mods setup is choosing which ones you want, it's very subjective and there are a lot of variations to choose from. Mod Organizer makes it very easy to install them and the Skyrim VR Reddit have some lists of suggested mods if you need them.
