I played the alpha they put out, and the trailer really looks like none of my main gripes were addressed and they're pushing for an early access release so soon, I honestly hope it feels a lot better than what I played but if they've not smoothed a bunch of stuff out it's going to be dead on arrival given how niche mech games are let alone on a niche platform such as VR which narrows down audience a lot.

I haven't really searched around but not really. At best there's that loli police force, and some joke militaries, but they all play themselves in the avatars. As far as I've seen there are no LARP-like worlds, again I haven't hard searched around, but you'd think after a year I would have stumbled across something.

I think part of the problem is there are no persistent worlds and with how public worlds bring in annoying griefing assholes with no easy way to get rid of them. It sounds like the dev team plans to implement stuff for that so maybe we'll see communities pop up in the future.

Tracking is the same for me. I still use my 2.0 and 3.0. I average 7:30 in my 3.0 and 3:45 in my 2.0. I much prefer USB C to micro USB. The 3.0 build quality just feels more solid in general. It's very rare i spend more than 7:30 in vr so 3.0 without battery banks is very comfy to wear and use. I only spent 90$ ea on my 3.0 brand new in box so it was well worth it.

Best way to do skirts is to keep the original weighting. Most skirts will have a bone in the centre; split the weighting of that in half and add each half to the bones beside it. The goal being that you have bones above the legs which carry the weight of the skirt.
Then in unity, constrain the skirt bones to the leg bones, so that when the leg moves up the skirt also moves up.
IT's not as fluid and perfect as something more dynamic but it's performant as hell and looks decent. And more importantly isn't hard to set up.

Guys VR isn't really immersive at all. I don't feel like I'm there. It's not even that 3D. There's no depth. In VR rollercoasters don't scare me, neither does driving fast, or heights, or jumping off high buildings, or horror games. It's just like flat screen games, except more difficult to play. I don't get it.

The thing about VR is that a lot of things can impact it. IPD, FOV, the shape of your head, the screens on your headset, the scene you're in, your own eyesight... it's hard to tell what any one person's individual problem is with VR but there are a lot of things that can break the 3d-ness and the immersion. I sometimes feel like my oculus CV1 was more immersive than my Index is, despite the index technically having 'more FOV', I can't wear my glasses with it or risk scratching the screen so I had to get a prescription lens, and the reduced FOV makes me feel a bit like I'm looking through binoculars and it makes it really hard to be properly immersed. But I don't use contacts so the other option is risk scratching my headset every time I use vr. Also, my head is weirdly shaped (ooga booga brow ridge) so the headset itself is uncomfortable to find a good way to adjust it, I get VR sickness very often... just overall there are a lot of things that make VR a pretty tedious experience for me in many ways.

But I enjoy it so much that I keep at it, and hope that the tech will improve in the future. I hope you can get your headset adjusted and see what I see in the medium.

VR isn't as immersive for me as it seems it is for others too. I think that's quite common as I've seen plenty of people wish they could be as immersed as those retard normalfag webms where people dive into their TVs or scream in fear.

When I take off the headset I do feel like I'm transitioning from one 3d space to another but there's something missing in that virtual one that doesn't trigger fear of heights or sense of speed like you mentioned. If I get scared in a horror game it's from a jumpscare that could have got me in any flat game too, nothing like the genuine feeling of unease you can get from a creepy location IRL.

When the headset is comfotable, lenses correct and the game is good I can easily forget about my real world surroundings but it never really hits the point where the virtual becomes the real. I'm still in a videogame and while I can interface with it very smoothly I can never fully forget that it's something seperate.

Guys, please help me out I am losing my mind about this. This issue has been going on for a year now.
I have a Valve Index and 2 other friends that also have Indexes and we all play Pavlov, but for some reason my mic does not work in-game. It used to, but for a long while now my mic just doesn't work in-game. I know for a fact that the issue is not anything hardware-related because not only can my friends can hear my Index mic on Discord, in the settings of Pavlov I can see that my mic is being detected and the little progress bar jumps around to the sound of my voice. It's only when we are in the lobby or in game that nobody can hear me sparing some random short bursts where my voice transmits for a fraction of a second in-game for no reason.
Yes I selected my Index mic in the settings of both Pavlov & Steam instead of "Default Device", I set the Index mic as the default communications device, I am using the same audio settings (Ultra settings) as my friends, the volume of the mic in Windows is set to 100, and Pavlov & Steam have permission to use my mic in the Privacy settings of Windows. I'm certain that the problem is within Pavlov at this point. What the fuck do I do. Please for the love of God help

I've noticed something very interesting with people in VRChat. If I act nice and friendly to everyone, try engaging and talking to them, show interest in them, no one likes me, no one wants to talk to me or hang out, sometimes get flat out ignored. But if I act disinterested, busy and keep diverting attention elsewhere I am WAY more likely to be engaged and have people want my attention. Not everyone likes that of course, but overall I still get way more attention that way. Which sucks because I'd love to devote my attention to people and have proper conversations or friendships.
What's even stranger is that if I remove someone I never see and they never shown interest in talking to me, next opportunity they will tell me how much they like me and want to be friends, yet if I agree instead of brushing them off they will go back to never interacting with me in any way again and dismiss me if I approach them.

So update, I tried that and while (in gimp) it DOES indeed make the smoke texture darker...in unity in the actual animation it doesn't seem to change anything. Like I have the breathing animation playing and when I toggle between the two textures on the fly..it just doesn't make any difference, not sure why the opacity is being ignored. I know the texture slot works because if I switch to some random bright pink texture or whatever the breath changes color accordingly, so it's affecting the actual object...but makes 0 visual change.

This looks vaguely like the situation I had on my custom model, which was delivered in PMX format. In my case it was caused by some of the hair being transparent while other bits were, so when I merged the materials it was impossible to win, because:
- if you make the whole material opaque you lose the nice transparency
- if you make the whole material transparent the triangles draw in the wrong order so things render weird

I was having the issue with the Toony Colors Pro 2 shader originally, then I noticed it was the same story with XSToon or any other shader I tried, so I realised, okay, it isn't a shader thing, it's going to have to be fixed at some other level.

And in my case, the fix was meticuously going through the model and putting everything transparent onto its own separate material, and then using a transparent (actually fade, I think) material on just that part in Unity. So yeah, now the model has one more material on it, so it costs one more draw call to render, but it at least renders correctly.

But even now, I have transparency drawing issues between my hair and my glasses, which I can only fix by putting one of them onto a higher render queue, and I'm not even sure whether doing that even works in VRChat (the SDK certainly used to fuck that up somehow during the upload process, and I'm not sure whether they fixed it. Maybe someone knows?)

Welcome to lightfields is pretty cool to look at. There's also the Google spotlight stories some of which are abstract and wordless. Il Divino has a high quality scan of the Sistine chapel, and there also scans of the palace of Versailles, and dawn of art for early cave paintings, all for free on steam. Treehouse in the shade in vrchat is a classic too.

If you want actual gameplay, paper beast is wordless weird physics puzzles. Fujii looked okay too though i haven't tried it myself. For active stuff, Eleven table tennis is always good, or racket nx. Or beat saber, pistol whip, superhot, even gorn, if your aunt wants some violence. Ultawings is very comfy slow pilotwings style flying.

Alright so this is an interesting idea to FBT using IMU sensors, by combining it with pressure sensors on the feet so that they get anchored in the tracking. That means no more floaty feet. Also might help with preventing drift. However the guy's current implementation certainly isn't very smooth yet.

i remember watching someone stream themselves crashing public just H's in the previous deleted discord, can't remember exactly how it works but the more accounts that join the instance, the stronger the framekilling effect. 2 is usually enough.
