well I have a bunch of "avatars" but I spend a lot of time trying to work around the gaps in my abilities
The first big blocker is Unity, but you don't have to go very deep once you get the basics
Then converting MMDs to usable avatars is fairly easy, if you already have some familiarity with Blender, which is all I had going into this
Avatar Bases have been harder than I thought they'd be since the artists do all sorts of weird stuff to the Blender UI I never bother with and take me a while to unravel

currently it has a delay of 2~3 times how long the audio input is to render and playback, making it currently unusable for real-time use, this will most likely improve a lot over time and on stronger hardware (uses gpu for rendering, the demo stand was using a mobile 2070)
the chances of it being usable on any spoken language of the user that isn't japanese is minimal
other than that, it works as well as it advertises, but some of the people who managed to use it at the stand complained about the pitch of the output being a bit too low though that is an easy fix for the devs, it's pretty neat desu

AVOID trying to look like a mascot character, the closer to human you are the better
don't go crazy on the colours, natural ones (grey, brown, black, white, etc) are a good choice, keep your pallette restrictive
digitrade legs are off the table, just don't
no fur shaders
add some fur tufts around the body, choose fluffier ears for your boothcat, mofu is good!
don't make a long snout, keep it as short as possible (a lot boothcats already sort of have one, anime style 3d modeling is wild)

Is there a way to make my avatar's primary texture a complete invisible texture that others can see without using a special shader? As in, my avatar is fully just see through with nothing visible?

The reason why I don't want to use a special shader is if my avatar is perf-blocked I still want the default look to be invisible, though my name tag will still be visible obviously. Going with an "invisible man" (girl) concept where all I have are a hat and clothes walking around while my entire body texture is invisible. However if I use a special shader to do this, and someone has shaders blocked, it will make me just a generic color walking around which ruins the effect

Depends. Stereo overlap is not that good. mic is shit. lenes are not that good because it has a lot of glare, apparently similar to index but i found it to be worse. worse sweet spot. audio is okay. Coming from my vive, the colors where awful. the only thing it has over the index really is the resolution and horizontal FOV. but with the FOV it feels like they sacrificed stereo overlap to achieve that. I went and got a vive pro since i had the wireless for my vive after my disappointment with the vive pro 2.
